1 Name: Anonymous : 2020-09-12 03:22 ID:KMbhUmtI

This thread is for hikikomori and NEETs to discuss personal issues regarding the NEET lifestyle.

NEET (Not In Education Employment Or Training)

The Japanese Ministry of Health, defines hikikomori as people who refuse to leave their parents' house, do not work or go to school and isolate themselves away from society and family in a single room for a period of 6 months or more.

If you are not a NEET or hikikomori don't post in this thread.

I am a neet on autismbux. Getting rich off of crypto ponzi schemes will be my only saving grace. If not, I guess I'll just an hero in a few more years if I make it that long.

You were never a NEET if you're making that kind of money tbh. NEETs don't make money they depend on others.

I had only four figures three months ago and I've been a complete shut-in neet on disability for years.

16 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2021-11-27 05:38 ID:Heaven

what is a figure?

17 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2021-11-27 09:49 ID:Heaven

>>16
Needlessly obtuse term for digits in one's salary (ex someone making $10,000 make "five figures," $200 is three figures, etc).

18 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2021-12-02 14:29 ID:Heaven

>>17
I agree it's obtuse, but my portfolio fluctuates so much and I've only cashed out about 70k which is a minority percent of my portfolio. If I was talking about a real sallary wage I would give a more precise number because it's consistent.

I am a former hikikomori, I have a job for 8 years now yet I still feel immense difficulty relating to people. Don't romanticize the non-hikikomori life too much, guys. It's likely that you will think and act the same even when you get a job and "join society."

20 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2021-12-13 07:06 ID:Heaven

Joining society and becoming a slave to society is a bit different. Well, if this society also keeps you alive by feeding you this isn't a completely one sided slavery, but ultimately all that this will do is prolong the agony.

21 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2021-12-15 00:28 ID:Heaven

I tried joining society. I just can't do it.
I can't do any work because I don't function around strangers, or groups of people. Everyone has their work schedules and no time for me. I have no schedule and all the time in the world for others. It's a dreadful combination.
Unfortunately all the ways to meet people typically include groups of people looking to meet many others. Can't really meet anyone in a situation where I don't function. Internet isn't much more helpful either, nobody will ever live closeby.
End result, there is no society to join. No friends, no work, no hobby groups. Just the internet and me. It kinda sucks most of the time. I don't even enjoy video games anymore. Am I just going to watch anime until the end?

Where do you live? If you can post on here (despite how basic the site is) I would wager you aren't too far removed from civilization...

23 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2021-12-16 23:23 ID:L3IGmvx7

> Internet isn't much more helpful either, nobody will ever live closeby.

I wouldn't say that's a given, you never know. I've met people on the internet who live very close by to me and I even met them IRL. That's fairly simple to do these days but the problem is with what happens next. All of my meetups were super awkward. I found that I didn't have much to really say to these people as they turned out to be totally different in person than they are online. I suppose I should have expected that, as I'm not the same in person as I am online either.

That isn't to say that internet friendships can't be fruitful, they can, but only if you keep them exclusively online if you don't want a very awkward and ultimately unpleasant experience.

> End result, there is no society to join.

Of course there isn't. Society implies shared values, beliefs and goals in a population, not a loose collection of individuals who are out for themselves. When I mentioned joining society I only used the word "society" for simplicity's sake. What I meant by it was really just getting a job and going along to get along.

Pretty far removed when I am too scared to go outside. It's not so much my location as it is me. That said I do live in a tiny fuck town without daily public transport.

>>23
It's kind of a given when I live in a small country. I take it you live in a bigger country with a more dense population?
I'd fully expect a meetup of someone I had only chatted with to be vastly different. I prefer most of my online friends to remain online friends. I like them that way and I don't want them to change, but I think it would be possible make a slight idea of how someone acts by video chatting a lot in advance and getting past that initial awkwardness. I had a couple people like that in the past, but that's a very long time ago.
I just want a permanent roommate to watch anime and play retro video games with to be honest. A friend like that would be great.
A job with a small amount of coworkers where we get along would be nice too, but I have no social or practical skills.

How does one even get past their hiki status?
The last thing I want is for people to look at me and to talk to me, they will immediately notice how pathetic I am.

>The last thing I want is for people to look at me and to talk to me, they will immediately notice how pathetic I am.

That stuff is mostly in your head. In reality most people don't care, they're just trying to get through their day just like you are. And even if they do give you shit, does it really matter? Most of them probably have normalfag-tier opinions anyway.

>Just the internet and me.

That doesn't sound so bad to me. For free, I put real work into online projects that matter. My problem recently is that my family members make me feel like dirt. Users (mostly anons) online also make me feel like dirt sometimes, or most of the time. Do I deserved to be treated like dirt? No. Are some of their criticisms somewhat valid? Yes.

Also I am sometimes a smelly anime fan, lulz.

>That doesn't sound so bad to me

It wasn't the first half a decade or so. The last couple years I've just been utterly rotting away chasing for something to enjoy. How long have you been a neet?

29 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2022-02-14 03:43 ID:Xhz0QlRU

How do you guys secure finances to continue your hiki/neet lifestyles? I write music and do gamedev as hobbies but I lack the confidence to shill myself out for money. I have no income and am too socially anxious to ever get another face-to-face customer service job. I'm turning 30 this year, my mom is getting older and is in a high risk group for COVID, which has been spreading like wildfire through her workplace. I think it's only a matter of time before she gets sick, and if she dies I think I'm fucked.

I get welfare checks of $300 per month and get to spend it all on video games while being a NEET in my parents house. I have high speed internet, heat, air conditioning, a giant room, a 50 inch TV. My mom cooks me all my meals. My dad does all the chores. Why would I want to change this?

37 Name: Anonymous Counsellor : 2023-02-17 02:03 ID:yyXp/GrU

Colleagues asked me what I did over break. I told them the truth. I was hospitalized for virtually all of our vacation. Their reaction? “Ohh” they just shrug their shoulders and go back to ignoring me. Nobody asked me if I was okay, nobody asked how I was doing, nothing.

Coworkers don't care about you. Only if they want something from you or can one-up you or by being around you it's an increase in their social standing somehow.

I cannot explain how much more comfy being a shut-in neet has become after buying a place to live and moving out. No more mommy's basement. I am a free man*

*Freedom from parents only. Freedom from reliance on government hush money not included and must be purchased separately.
I think we all know it's a small bribe so I don't go insane as homeless and kill billionaires as revenge.

There are many different countries with different housing prices and bribe amounts. Many disabled people are neets too. I didn't think it would be reachable either.

yeah i guess so
i know im young but it already feels like my life is over
i have tried getting a job but the one time i ever secured an interview (a phone call because of the covid pandemic), i cancelled out of fear
i don't leave the house ever, and i rarely leave my room
sometimes i debate just leaving my house and becoming homeless, i feel like a burden and a shame to my family :(

I'm a NEET because I got fired from my job. It's comfy. I've missed it. However, there's no tismbux where I live, so I'll need to get a job in a few months. It's an extended vacation.

The worst thing about being a NEET is knowing you’ll have to work again at some point in the future when you need cash.

I work a casual job at a grocery store, and I actually really appreciate it when they give me fuck all shifts after drafting up the roster.

Not only is it great time for me to give mind to the things I enjoy doing, and also work towards achieving personal goals I set out for myself, but it barely makes a difference in my income; the welfare agency in my country decimates your tugboat relative to how much you earn from employers, so there's little incentive for me to try harder and ask for more hours.

Not when the cost is ultimately the decision to neglect my own mental health, peace of mind, and personal development. I guess I could do it if I were a whore for money.

Welcome, Anonymous. It is a lonely path, but a noble one nonetheless.
I have recently received my 7 year badge from the triennial NEET convention, it's gold plated with a big 7 on the front and a young looking anime girl on the back.

I swear its better to be a NEET than work in today's climate, unless you absolutely have to just avoid it.

You're gonna need some kind of skill to offer if you move countries. You'd also need a good fluent command of whatever language it may be. But the main thing is being able to offer your adoptive country something that would make them want you to stay there. If you just want to freeload as a NEET, no country will let you stay.

i miss neet.moe. and it fucking sucks. haven't found a replacement yet. all the hidden chans are wagie techie cults tied to some fucking chat.

this certainly isn't one too, but I'll post this frustration here in all places. kidsu moe and the rest fucking sucks even more to have my post there.

this chan peaked when sexuality was around. i was long browsing it from my very shitty phone while going to various rehabs.

but the admins decided to have a piss on the users because like everywhere they are just some grown kids from some shitty chat.

kinda sad in its own way really, quality of jokes and discussion here was very high. since then it exists for the same one reason.
