I personally love the conjecture and counter-conjecture and crazy-conjecture (some of which is mine!)!! Let's never stop that!

And as far as crazy conjecture goes - someone over at LSA joked about JA showing up with Clint Mansell for the HR premiere.

Now, THAT would be EPIC.

Don't get me wrong, I adore the boy, but if his chickens came home to roost like that - EO showing up to HR (maybe uninvited in a 26-year-old bunny boiler fashion!) and JA showed as well - I would damage some of my internal organs from laughing so damn hard.

TH gets out of limo, sees JA and EO

If this happens, I will personally hold TH responsible for the damage 24 hours of continuous laughter does to my spleen, liver, stomach and both large and small intestines.

There is so much in HR that could be 18A that I have no idea. It could easily be Luke Evans' willy. Or the incest, or the dog-eating, or so much else!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled perving to bring you an ISTL update from twitter.

The 35th Atlantic Film Festival:

'Featuring the newest and most anticipated films of the year, moviegoers will want to be first in line to see the ten films comprising the 2015 Rogers Special Presentations. Savour the sights and sounds of soon to be award-winning films:...I Saw the Light, the story of Hank Williams, played to perfection by Tom Hiddleston...'

Worry about the weakness of award season offerings. Not sure if this is good or bad for TH and ISTL.

'Two American show business biographical dramas stir some interest: Jay Roach's Trumbo, in which Bryan Cranston portrays blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, and Marc Abraham's I Saw the Light, a look at Hank Williams (about which the least can be said is that, based on photographs, star Tom Hiddleston looks like a near-dead ringer for the late country singer).'

I suppose Tom will be able to attend only couple of those festivals. I bet for Tiff and Maybe San Sebastian or Zurich. Skull Island starts shooting on 19th of October so I suppose he will be working.

my bet for RC is no interaction with Olsen, or simple friendly interaction. since they aren't a couple.

As an aside, I really like this quote from Ben Winshaw about actors and acting.. a gossip board devoted to a celebrated actor is probably not the best place to post it but..

"Whishaw prefers not to discuss his personal life, saying: "For me, it's important to keep a level of anonymity. As an actor, your job is to persuade people that you're someone else. So if you're constantly telling people about yourself, I think you're shooting yourself in the foot." In 2011, he told Out magazine: "As an actor you have total rights to privacy and mystery, whatever your sexuality, whatever you do. I don't see why that has to be something you discuss openly because you do something in the public eye. I have no understanding of why we turn actors into celebrities."

At the end of the day, the job of an actor is to convince you, the audience to suspend belief and "buy" the portrayal of whoever the actor is trying to convey. The performance should not be polluted by whatever is going on in the actors real life and world as then, you risk the illusion being destroyed.

I wonder if this is what Tom is trying to achieve when he refuses to indulge in the business of celebrity as of late (a high profile relationship goes against this). Does he want to be an actors actor or a movie star? Can you be both? Do I absolutely need to know every single detail about this man's life outside of the work he does (no, not really). Should I give two figs who he is intimate with if I care about his performances? (No)

Random serious thoughts for a Thursday morning - back to normal programming...

990 Name: Anon : 2015-08-27 12:33 ID:MFs9uVGi

>>989 I think he knows that Whishaw is right, because he has said in the past that he understands the interest in his personal life but basically won't say anything. And yet I think he also wants to be a movie star, and he knows that to be that you have to create the media buzz. And I think he enjoys the celebrity and at times hates what it brings. He wouldn't be half the star he is had he not danced for the crowds in S Korea.

991 Name: Anon : 2015-08-27 12:40 ID:MFs9uVGi

(Continued). I feel sure he enjoys performing and showing off a little and being adored. Who wouldn't? But then people perhaps don't take him as seriously as an actor, and his private life is subject to constant nosing. What choice do you make? It must be incredibly hard. Whishaw is respected as an actor but does he have as many career opportunities?

>>991

I just looked up his IMDB.. upcoming:

The Heart of the Sea (the Moby DIck retelling with Chris Hemsworth)
Spectre (James Bond/etc)
Suffragette
The Danish Girl

I think Ben's doing alright some how :)

I can certainly understand how seductive it must be to have people admiring and applauding you (imagine getting applauded by random strangers each time you did your job right at the end of each day - I would be delighted) and I can understand how this might be something you might court, if you had previously been a struggling actor competing for parts with hundreds of other actors.

At some point though, you have to decide whether the fame whoring is what you want out of your professional career or whether you are happier just popping out of the woodwork every odd year, performing your proverbial pants off and getting recognition from it from your peers and the public.

I don't know - I think that it is testimony to Tom's talent, that he did manage to make a compelling character from a cartoon character, as Loki. I just hope for the sake of the films to come, that instead of having kittens over who he might or might not have held hands with, we are instead more excited about his actual performances and work.

(and no, I am not Luke).

I'll take your word on Whishaw - not really a fan. I wasn't sure that BW had quite the leading man status yet - maybe someone like Eddie Redmayne is a better comparison with TH as he has the lead roles and the Oscar. ER has certainly achieved the balance TH has not - introduces his girlfriend, walks her down the RC like a normal person, then announces his recent wedding - no paps.

I think whether we talk about TH roles in the future depends a lot on him. We only talk about his love life as much as we do because it is such a car crash. Imagine if he had smiled graciously at the paps on PGG and held her hand. Discussion largely over. Or (assuming there was no relationship) if he had like any normal person told EO to stop telling everyone they were together. Again discussion largely over.

994 Name: lex : 2015-08-27 13:29 ID:uazjO+7B

it depends whAt you Are interested in. for some he is just an actor, for some something more. it's the letter of where you put yourself- in an audience or in one row with him where actually things go different. you CSNT claim any of the party.

>>992 I think he is genuine when he says that acting is his job, that he wants to keep a low profile - probably one of the reason he looked so pissed on PPG - that he is not interested in the circus of being a celebrity. And I also don't think there's anything wrong in dancing and the rest while you are promoting a film, since promotion is part of his job.

But I agree with Anon. We didn't ask him to have JA mentioned in interviews, nor did we ask him to see photos with her on holiday. Did we ask him to go to have a dinner to a known paps spot? No.
If you tell me that people scouting his neighbourhood, secretly taking photos or videos of him or starting a blog with super secret infos or starting a blog making up infos are crossing the line I agree. But you can't expect people not to comment on something about him that is in the news. And something posted on the internet, if you are a fan, is news.

Whishaw is private as is Redmayne, but I still know that the first got married to his bf and the second got engaged and married last year. But since I'm not a fan I don't talk about it.
