If it's not kidnapping fears, then she has this ridiculous security for either crazy stalkers (who might try and break into her mansion at night but won't be after her at a restaurant) or for fans (a bunch of sobbing 12 year olds).

She sent a story to several gossip sites claiming to be a source close to Tom in order to make a statement about how anyone can tip off the press, not expecting anyone to take her seriously. Then The Hollywood Gossip published her story without verifying it, which proved her point, but then the astro blog and a couple others started fighting with her about what she'd done. The big difference between Taylor Swift's ex-boyfriends and Tom Hiddleston is that the others didn't need her money while Tom doesn't have a dime. That's why he will stay with her.
The only thing he owns is his house in London and he's probably still paying the bank loan.
He's films are low budget, except for the Night Manager (and he wanted this one so much that he probably didn't ask for a high salary).
A big part of his salary goes to the agents (in the UK and the US), his publicist, his assistant, and other things we don't know about. No wonder he doesn't have money to buy new clothes!
I don't know why his fans think he's a millionaire. He's not! But he wants to be one and Taylor Swift is the only way to get there because he can't make with his work.
