Thread to talk about the actor Tom Hiddleston
I wonder how it feels to have tanked your own career.

New pics of Tom walking Bobby today in London from Torilla. He's wearing the uniform, of course : )

Tom just posted a new work project on Twitter w a brand new video!! Speculation is that this is a teaser trailer for a new TV adaptation of the lauded Harold Pinter play Betrayal. That is currently unconfirmed, but Hiddleston did wear this suit, while appearing at a London gala honouring Pinter just last month.
https://www.pedestrian.tv/entertainment/tom-hiddleston-betrayal-twitter-clip-speculation/
>>905 Very interesting. His scene at the Pinter gala was from "Betrayal." I googled, and it hasn't had a major production in London for about seven years, which seems to be a typical amount of time to pass between its revivals. And as of the date of that Josie Rourke interview, her last production at the Donmar hadn't been announced yet.
>>906 I also meant to say, a Rourke/TH collaboration would help explain that otherwise rather random interview/career retrospective event.
>>905 - >>907 Yup, it’s Betrayal but with another director: https://www.pinteratthepinter.com/the-plays/betrayal
Tom filled in for his Hollow Crown co-star, Jeremy Irons, w George MacKay, Yasmin Paige, Faaiz Mbelizi, and Toby Jones on stage at the for Dead Poets Live: The Broken Word reading. He wore his old 2015 McQueen suit w black leather boots for the event, and changed into his uniform for the reception. Apparently, Tom specifically said that he didn't want to take pictures during the after show drinks reception, but here are a few of the photos of the event and the reception. ALso, a pic of Tom riding the tube, a day or so ago.

>>909 I didn't know he was filling in for Jeremy Irons. Funny, given that in the film of Betrayal, Irons played the role that Tom will be doing on stage.

Al Pacino will be starring in a film adaptation of King Lear. Team Tom should try to nab him a role in this. Maybe Edmund, as his friend John Macmillan just played that part in the BBC version w Anthony Hopkins? Or Edgar, perhaps?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6425759/Al-Pacino-play-King-Lear-film-adaptation-Shakespeare-play.html
>>912 That could be good - per the Guardian article, Pacino's "Merchant" made better money than most Shakespeare films. It's supposed to start filming next fall, though, which might conflict with the Loki series going into production.
If he does get a role in this, I'd like to see him play Edgar rather than Edmund. I don't think he needs another villain on his resume right now.
And he could work on his Pacino imitation :).

Apparently Tom Hiddleston was mentioned in a story in The Cut, in an article alleging that Priyanka Chopra's relationship with, and marriage to Joe Jonas is completely fake and for PR purposes. Well, Duh! Allegedly Priyanka wanted a PR relationship w a famous celebrity to cement her status worldwide status, and the article said that Tom didn't make it to be her selection. I knew that Emmy Awards onstage twirling session would come back to haunt him! No more hanging out near thirsty people, or being thirsty yourself, Tom! They had to cave in and remove the article, though.

>>921 Though not hanging out with thirsty people could be a challenge, given his profession (especially the movie industry).
Speaking of which, I was sorry to see that no sooner had the new Loki series been announced, his rank in the Bond betting jumped up again. I so wish that would stop.

This Week in Hiddlesland
Ending Dec. 23, 2018:
-- this one involving quantum mechanics: twitterDOTcom/OrigamiOgma/status/1076180692567027712
-- bonus from the previous week - one of a tube sighting with photo (via tumblr since the OP removed the picture): https://zerofucksclub.tumblr.com/post/181110308271/tom-on-the-tube-i-may-need-to-start-a-new-tag-for
Oh dear. The oral surgeon father of actress Maddison Hasson, who played Tom’s teen bride in ISTL, Billie Jean, has been accused of sexually abusing at least four women while they were under the influence of anaesthesia and in his care at a clinic in North Carolina. This includes one count of 2nd degree forcible sex offense. I hope that these women receive swift justice under the law. Those poor women. Of course the DM used the picture of Tom w Maddie at a premiere of ISTL. This story is so disturbing.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html
>>927 The thought of someone you ought to be able to trust taking intimate advantage of young women is bad enough, but to do it when they were under anesthesia is despicable. I hope they throw the book at him.
At least the DM didn't use the ISTL picture at the top of the story, and restrained themselves from somehow working TS into it!
P.S. Welcome back! I was wondering if I was the only holdout....
>>928 Thanks for the welcome back. I think that people are just waiting until more of the Betrayal PR really kicks off, or news of an additional new project pops up. Tom looked so awkward, guarded and self aware in the pics of him leaving Craig's restaurant in LA. It's like he has his fingers crossed that no one calls him a famewhore for doing pap strolls, and that no one writes about TS in the DM articles. Pics of Tom leaving Barbara Broccoli's pre-BAFTA party at the Savoy Hotel from Torilla. Please no more silly Bond conversations till Daniel Craig is finished with his last film!
Pics of Tom attending the press night for Ivo Van Hove's new production of All About Eve w Gillian Andersen and Lily James. I love Ivo Van Hove, but All About Eve is a pretty perfect movie, and doesn't need to be a stage play. Neither does Network or To Kill a Mockingbird, IMO. His Betrayal costars, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox were there, too. Tom's wearing his burgundy sweater under his navy pea coat, which is a nice change.
Very nice rehearsal shots of atom and the rest of the Betrayal cast: https://www.standard.co.uk/go/london/theatre/tom-hiddleston-betrayal-pictures-harold-pinter-rehearsals-a4068396.html
>>929, >>930 Interesting contrast between these sets of pictures. In the first two (Craig's and pre-BAFTA), he's scarcely smiling at all, even in the posed shots at the party. But he's all smiles in the ones for the press night. Because he had company for that event (his Betrayal co-stars)? Because he knows he's about to have to do more events as promo for his play and he needs the story not to be about how glum he looks? At least he finally trimmed his side beard and the dimples are once again visible.
>>929 Saw a day or two ago that the next Bond flick has been delayed, so the silliness will be prolonged. At least there weren't any articles after B. Broccoli's party about Tom / Bond.
>>930 Heartily agree that All About Eve is a great movie and doesn't need to be a play! From what I've seen about To Kill a Mockingbird, though, it seems like enough of a different interpretation from the movie that it's a justifiable adaptation.
Tom and his co star Zawe Ashton were spotted watching Martin Freeman and John Heffernan performing in the play, The Dumb Waiter, at The Pinter Theatre.

Article on the new Loki Series, and the new Scarlett Witch/Vision series. Apparently these new Marvel projects will work in the same timeline with the Marvel films, and they will be supervised by the same creative team as the films, contrary to the other Marvel shows so far. The actors will sign on for only 9-10 series at a time. Hopefully Tom will get to executive produce the series, make some serious residuals, and negotiate a pay raise after season 1.

Apparently Bobby was waiting at the stage door: twitterDOTcom/cumberbatchlive/status/1103425177419988993/photo/1
>>937 These photos seem to capture the mood of the stark setting very well. And could that be a new blue sweater? It’s even tighter than usual.
Video of Tom and his costar Zawe Ashton seen leaving the theatre together, in his car. Heading to a party, maybe?
http://gremlinmd.tumblr.com/post/183342863295/after-the-evening-show-of-betrayal-on-march-9th
>>940 Could be - he looked to be carrying a bottle of something alcoholic. But it also looked as if he got in the front seat of the car, while Zawe was in the back, so I doubt that this glimpse together means anything.
I like that Bobby has been there for every performance except the matinee day!
>>941 I agree. Apparently co-star Charlie Cox was also in the back of the car, that's why I said co-star Zara, and not rumoured gf, or anything. And Yay! Even celebitchy and the commentators are calling out Taylor Swift for her silly Elle magazine article, and for her habit of orchestrating PR relationships and PR friendships for beneficial press to sell albums. Since all of her stunting partners, including Tom, Karlie Kloss, and even Kim Kardashian have emotionally moved on, and are not talking about her, and that TS is the problem. Wow! Where were they durnig the summor of terror?!

Tom unknowingly photobombs group in restaurant:
Random recent bits I’ve found interesting:
>>941 Oh, the Celebitchy commentators were busy defending the reality of the Summer of Terror during it, IIRC!
>>943 That first DM review read as if the writer had to be restrained from including Tayto and the Shirt of Shame yet again. The second review was more professional, though they singled out Zawe as the best of the three: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-6808407/Tom-Hiddleston-powerful-presence-Betrayal-Zawe-Ashton-steals-show.html
