That was the most epic five minutes and forty-six seconds of my life.

I wonder how many times the Yoshinoya rant was actually spoken, let alone recorded. This may be a historic recording.
then you better download it to make sure it stays with you always

★★★★★ AWESOME!!!
This is now my favorite song. I shall now play it every day for the rest of my life, until I get tired of it.
I was moved to tears. A+ would listen again!
> I donno about the Captain Obvious
Like I would commit to this before knowing what those crazy DQN might do.
Hope you won't mind if I steal a few of your lyrics to remix in my version? I'd like to lift the bridge part.
Haha, that's fine by me, it's all in good fun.
Brace for more awesome.
I tried to put some actual effort in this one, unless the previous one that's just pure DQN. But more speech synth because it takes me way too long to do the vocals right otherwise. I've used stereo effects to try to do >>20 and >>22 justice, but I just left >>12 alone.
Download:
>>54 that was GREAT wow, I'm astonished I love the yoshi sound during the rant. This really blew me away haha I like it so much more than mine.
The next step is to record KUSO MISO TECHNIQUE
Someone really needs to record http://4-ch.net/dqn/kareha.pl/1187749076/l50
I'm still looking for a recording of http://4-ch.net/dqn/kareha.pl/1149386526/.

You guys are gonna burn me out.
We need to get all of the DQN singers together in one huge collaboration project and record the Really Long Song.
>>63
That's a huge challenge... none of us have the same style, the same tools, and we don't even know how many we are (probably at least 4 if I remember correctly the amount of recordings of All Alone for Christmas).
A collab would probably be either:
Also, we would need some kind of actual organization. At the very least we should all agree on a few rules and on which part everyone would do. Maybe a wiki page on scratchpad.wikia.com or something would be better than a thread that could quickly become way too long and intimidating for people who would otherwise consider joining the project.
I'd definitely participate anyway, whether we go for complete DQN style, actual music, or a succession of very different parts.
Are there more people who would participate? (if so tell us what sort of music you would do)
I make mostly electronic music with horrible vocoded vocals (can't sing), spoken parts, and speech synth.
I do hard electronic stuff, but none of my music sounds similar enough to pinpoint a style.
>>65
I was definitely thinking the second option. The fact that every part would be completely different is what makes it great.
We could probably get some of the guys from DQN ELECTRONICS VOL.9 to help, so that's 12 more people at max.
As for organization, scratchpad would probably be best, unless someone who has a wiki is willing to host something like this.
There's another etherchan like wiki in the works, but we don't have any programmers or admins. Anyone feel like doing a ton of work for no real reward? ( 'A` )
> But this way, there's no helping the fact that every 2 minutes, the genre, the quality, and even the volume of the songs would drastically change.
I don't think that's a problem, it will just make it even more DQN.
http://www.myspace.com/buundqn is me. I'd help, if you'd want it
So only 3 now... ? Even if we managed to do the 18 verses all by ourselves it would probably be too repetitive to make for something fun to listen to...
Well, the song was finished long ago so maybe a few people are waiting to see if we're really serious about that before replying.
>>70
Also, no need to rush. Things like this take awhile.
I'm willing to help. I'm the guy who arranged "DQN DQN LOL" way back when although I did not try very hard on that one. I can probably do better.
Sup. I was the guy who... "sang" the parked mix of All Alone For Christmas. I swear I've improved a bit. :p I also think I did a (purposely) crappy mix of another dqn song using some text-speech thing and my knowledge of what sounds bad.
Anyway, I'd be willing to help.
You can use iiichan's /music/ for hosting.
>>75
That would be a big influx of big files in a short time... nothing wrong with rapidshare while we're still working on them.
Anyway, what should we do about all the flood/AA/foreign language.... parts? Anything goes so long as we try something, or we skip them?
You will fail. So don't even try.
(´^ิω^ิ) Give up.
(・∀・) Don't give up!
(´^ิω^ิ) Pay up, cyberscum. Use the PAX if you have no money.
>>76
We should leave it up to the artist. If they don't want to repeat "under the moon loli to issho" 50 times that's cool with me.
>>77
Trying goes against the spirit of this board. If this is going to happen, it'll be half-assed in true DQN style.
Also, what tools do you guys use? I wanna contribute, but all I have is a cracked copy of Reason that I have no idea how to use. ( 'A` )
OK guys, I've started this mini-wiki: http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/DQN
BTW, do you guys want to do it anonymously or with nicknames? (It may be hard to collaborate if we don't have a way to distinguish each artist)
Would someone happen to have a backup of the markup of the really long song page from etherchan? I'm sure that could be of some help.
I'm willing to help!
I did "My Life is Ruined" and "It puts the lotion in the basket" (the September 5000 song.) My sort of website is http://www.freewebs.com/anondoesnotforgive/ but I don't update it. You can call me Anonymous or DQN-kun.
http://4-ch.net/dqn/kareha.pl/1178750963/85
Oh yes, this is my song.
I'm going to try and update the zip file on my website too.
>>81
I was playing with a cracked version of Harmony Assistant, which has a useful 'Virtual Singer' speech synth, when I made "DQN DQN LOL." Generally I use Apple GarageBand for my musical endeavors, though. (lol macintosh)
OK, I forgot my password for the freewebs site so here you go:
http://dqnmusic.googlepages.com/
Wayback is back up, and it has the etherchan page archived. It lacks the edit page, though, so no wiki-formatted version.
We could copy the html source over then edit the links and whatever else that breaks.
http://web.archive.org/web/20070121163734/http://etherchan.org/wiki/index.php/Really_Long_Song
I made a backup here: http://dqn.dqn.lol.googlepages.com/Really_Long_Song.html
Anyway, we don't know if it wasn't subtly vandalized, so we should only use it as a fast reference.
I've updated the wiki a little and started a few discussions about the various parts of the songs there.
I propose that when we are ready to record something, we reserve the part on the wiki.
I think that if we are going to do this it has to be anon, but WITH nicknames, so not like our common nick names but we choose other ones like captian obvious or ⊂二二二( ^ω^)二二二⊃ or something
My nickname is just going to be >>87 (or 87kun) from now on
>>94
We pretty much need nicknames, at least temporarily so we know who's doing what. When we're ready to release it though, it will be under one name of course.
"DQN-kun and the IQ=85s"
LOL WUT
POST WHAT YOU'VE DONE SO FAR
I did some bleeps. And also some voice-like noise. I'll try to have the track up next week.
Please participate guys! Claim your verse at http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/DQN
I haven't started because I'm really busy setting up for a live show next week. I promise I'll start working on my verse afterwards though!
No rush guys, projects like this take awhile to get going. ( 'A` )
>>102
Sure, but we still need to get the first round of tracks done pretty fast to prove that this project is serious.
hi how are
waitasec...
> 6 people consider participating right now:
So if I understand right, ALL SIX of the DQN regulars are in on this? Wow.
I could to the vocals for some, but I don't have a mic. Any recommendations?
>>106
Plug a set of headphones in the mic jack. It actually works, but you'll need to turn the input volume up and filter the noise out with a sample editor.
Or you could just go to radio shack and buy a $10 microphone. ;)
... wait, did you mean recommendations for a brand of microphone? lol
If you want good quality and have a few dollars to shell out, get the Shure SM58; otherwise, any $10 mic will do just fine with a bit of editing. For true DQN quality, though, headphones are definitely the way to go.
>>74 here
I guess I'll use the nick "dqn-kun" (no caps) for now.
I would claim one, but I'm not sure what to do about the music.
I don't really want to take a pre-made instrumental track from somewhere, so the only choices are to make one myself of have someone make one for me.
Has anyone pirated this "Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku" program that made the animu news in various places? It seems like it could come in very useful for those who don't want to do live vocals.
Also potentially relevant: http://maz-sound.com/index.php?show=product&id=11
>>66 here, I threw some technoshit together for <a href="http://4-ch.net/dqn/kareha.pl/1149386526/318-367">verse seven</a>. It's crap-ass!
Also, apparently I cleared my cookies recently. Oops.
>>112
Much awesome
>>110
I'm acquiring it right now but I'm not sure I'll be able to use it if it requires reading and inputting moon runes.
There are other vocaloids in English, maybe that can help if it's difficult to use - but from watching youtube demos the other vocaloids sound pretty shitty in comparison.
Well, that Vocaloid thing was pretty straightforward to get to work without undersanding Japanese. Very little trial and error is required to get the basic functions to work. This can definitely be useful to moe up the very long song.
http://bayimg.com/pAhpaaAbD
I must say, I've been playing with vocaloid and it is awesome. Probably would be even better if I could read any of the menu items, but they all show up as ???????? to me (lol, wine sucks at japanese) -- still, I've managed to figure out at least enough to do the Evangelion OP. Thank you >>110; I'll be up all night playing with this thing.
>>118
Use Applocale if moonrunes would be easier on your eyes. http://alcahest.club.fr/perso/apploc/applocale.html
Damn real life, it took me almost a month to get enough time to do the 9th verse.
http://dqn.dqn.lol.googlepages.com/9th_verse.mp3
(Try to find the 2 samples from other DQN songs!)
I've just made this thread for people who don't check out DQN often enough to know about this project: http://4-ch.net/music/kareha.pl/1191288039/
Let me just make this clear, don't fire both guns at the same time, but one by one simultaneously! That's the basic skill of a double barrelled gunman.
this song is so fkn long
You should post the original Yoshinoya rant, music and FX free. I would make sweet love to your eyes forever.
>>125
As in the rant in verse #7? It's pretty much straight from the OS X text-to-speech, albeit with the speed cranked all the way up.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DU8Q1PJU
Guess I won't be able to contribute any time soon... just moved into uni housing with paper thin walls.
I was/am in the middle of writing music for one, though. Maybe I'll finish it during a home visit. :p
>>127
A good set of studio quality headphones is your best friend.
>>128
I use HD-280s. :p As well as some Sentry headphones that do a decent job.
The problem is my singing.
how much does a good recording mic cost?
>>123
Thank you! That's my favorite verse out of the Really Long Song and you did it justice.
Hey guys, what should we do about the encores? There are 4 or them:
We obviously can't have the exact same song file twice.
I think maybe we could just go the easy way and have someone say in a pretty DQN voice something like "As to improve your enjoyment of this song, we recommend you play the 1st verse a second time".
I've finally figured out how to write Vocaloid lyrics reasonably quickly:
There is a dictionary (ALT+L then C) but I've not figured out how the hell it really works yet.
it carries out and is ω
>>136
You can also set the pronounciation manually (last option in the right-click menu of a note.) Unfortunately, Miku seems to refuse to sing in English even if I tell her the pronounciation...
Any quick way to get just a consonant sound without the vowel, and without cutting the note off?
Hey guys, there's a new wiki at http://tanasinn.info/, feel fee to use it as a project page, we would be honhored to host it!
That would probably give us more exposure too.
