OP is also right that popular social media is dumb. YouTube for example is bloatware, and the website could have a simpler design where each web page doesn't have 20 megabytes of JavaScript and other HTML nonsense. I think Terry A. they did that a long time ago. 2016, to be precise. mac and linux don't look any more crushed to me than they were 5 years ago, though it's not for lack of self-sabotage attempts

Discord servers which are private or otherwise make an echo chamber rivaling something any 'chan site could ever do (not mentioning the strict rules for posting on any social media, oh and the fact that children are easily groomed and harassed on a site that they should feel safe on). If your not part of the exclusive club of that one Discord group you can't see what's even happening, or let's say it's public, you'd just get banned anyway for saying a differing opinion.
