• The front page, guide and services pages seem to be working now
• I've setup SSL with Let's Encrypt, and made the whole site automatically redirect to https — is this okay, or should I allow for non-SSL browsing as well?

So far, these are my current goals for the site:

Short-term

1. Making sure everything works properly
2. New DQN name (already done)
3. SSL (also done)
4. Fixing the fonts and adding submona support — I've done this for the SJIS boards (DQN, ASCII and Nihongo); should I make MS PGothic default for the other boards as well? Undo it and add a custom stylesheet for it? Please let me know)
5. More stylesheets (mittens.css, amber.css and more?)

Longer-term

1. Updating kareha, and also adding some custom features (backlinks? hover quotes?)
2. Bringing back the archive scripts (Love, e.g., has over 2000 threads, none of which are archived!)
3. Moving everything under one domain for convenience
4. Potentially merging or closing some of the older boards (highly debatable — I would prefer to keep them active, but a few may be beyond saving at this point)
5. Community projects, or other ideas to revitalize the place a little

Hello new admin,
I have to admit that when I entered the site and saw the new front page image(the boat on the sea) I got shocked and thought that the site got hacked or that the the previous admin woke up from a nightmare and remembered he was supposed to maintain a certain website.
I would like to suggest season images for the front page, maybe changing every season (or month), of course images related to that season/month. Also, bring back the previous image.

Please don't close boards, or if you really really need to, then at least put them in read-only mode for history/archive purpose.

Hey, post previews are now working perfectly (at least for me special characters were glitchy since always). I think the "WakabaMark" formatting option can be removed now since the posts are monospaced.

I know you are not mentioning them, but please try to keep the old style "mobile" pages as they are even smaller than standard kareha pages and useful for quick reading, if that would not require too much work i.e. while upgrading kareha.
I may not be the only one liking them, as there are some cries after the "old internet" in /general, and these are some pre-HTML5 mobile pages which is super rare nowadays.

Really minor issue and I don't know if it's just for me, but when I refresh the page and select a style, the site shits itself and loses all CSS, so I need to click on the option again.

• Made the site slightly more mobile-friendly
• The frames page now preloads CSS, which seems to alleviate problems with switching stylesheets in webkit
• mobile.pl has been added to robots.txt -- the script (and archive.pl) are finally published to https://services.4-ch.net/view/kareha_scripts

• CSS changes:

  • Added IPAMonaPGothic and Submona support to all stylesheets
  • Wide AA posts create a scrollbar instead of linebreaks if there's not enough horizontal space now
  • Slightly increased the font size on Blue Moon
  • The roses and Suigintou have returned to Mercury

Hey ssz, there's a directory (I forget where) on the site with pixel art of girls with cat years and the 4ch logo. Why not use those? Someone put them on the server like a decade ago but they never got used.

2ch changed its domain to 5ch.net, the links in 2ch portal still point to old domain. Please fix that.

Unless I'm messing things up on my end, I think 5ch/5channel's boards are blocked for non-Japanese users.

Archives aren't going anywhere, don't worry. There aren't any public downloads right now, but before merging/closing some of the boards (there's gonna be a thread for this sometime in the future), I'm planning on making a full archive of the site.

Please install a webfont for emojis that make them look less intrusive and obnoxious. Ideally one of those black and white outline emoji fonts. That way they blend in better and lose their trolling potential.

The number of boards should be cut by like 95%. This is a problem with a lot of sites. Way too many boards or subforums for the number of users.

If it's possible, I would rather have boards merged together than deleted. I know kareha uses flat files so I assume that while tedious and annoying it could probably be done by splicing the logs together. The annoying part would be changing the names and getting the dates sorted.

For instance, anime, manga, film & tv are similar enough to each other and overlap enough that they could probably be merged. Programming and tech support; net culture and iaa; news, politics, and debate; romance and personal issues; some others possibly.

Also, when using an alternative stylesheet, getting an error while previewing a post will result in the style being swapped to Pseud0ch.

One quirk of Kareha 3.1.2 that I've noticed is that when directly linking posts by url, sometimes the link shows only that post, other times it shows the linked post and >>1, and sometimes it shows the whole thread. I couldn't find any pattern to what post numbers create what behavior, but my testing wasn't very thorough. Any explanation for why it is like this?
