"Put it up to 11
Toronto pumps up the volume in 2015. Stories of Keith Richards, “Miss Sharon Jones!,” Yo-Yo Ma and Silk Road Ensemble, Janis Joplin, Arcade Fire and “Arab Idol” winner Mohammad Assaf unfold. “Born to Be Blue” reimagines the life of jazz trumpeter Chet Baker (Ethan Hawke), “I Saw the Light” of Hank Williams (Tom Hiddleston). “London Road” brings the National Theatre musical to the screen. The Canadian Music Cafe invites industry badge-holders to check out sync-ready acts."

I'm sure he will be at the HR celebration thing, not so sure about the other one. But now you know where he might show up.
So first yahoo says Thor 3 will be filmed in Australia, now this twitter account says it's Georgia. Considering the film doesn't even have a director yet and they don't start until June, they might end up filming in London again.

So he was busy in London today....while EO was receiving an award today at the 41st Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville, France.

There are other articles about EO which I won't post, but if you read the DM's it's funny how they name ISTL as her film.
It's all about the WORK not .. though something tells me he doesn't support Jeremy Corbyn (rumoured lefty leader of lefty Labour party)

>>158 indeed. Can't believe it can have been correct if he was in London yesterday. Just goes to show how people assume he is around and then assume they have seen him.
>>159 I wonder what this was about. Hopefully a DVD/Blu-ray with commentary and behind the scenes footage. :)
>>160 The tweet date says the 10th at 4:56, so it might be he left London right away and arrived in Toronto in the early morning. The girl is a University student maybe she was out and about.
>>161 the NTLive rerun of Coriolanus I think, maybe they added some interviews? But I hope with you is for s DVD/Blueray :)
Flights from London to Toronto are 7.5 hours, minus 5 hour time difference so 2.5 hours. If Tom caught a flight in the afternoon he'd get there in the evening Toronto time. Toronto girl tweeted at night so I guess she could have seen him in the evening. However, the tweets from Josie Rourke and ntlive give the impression that they were working in London all day, which would make me think he was still in London, although he could have left earlier in the day while others kept working. Maybe someone will spot him in London or Toronto tomorrow and then we'll know for sure. He may have gone a couple days early to try and get over the jet lag before all the interviews and premiers and photoshoots.
You have to add travel time and check in to those times. At least 1.5 hours in the daytime by car to Heathrow from his place (I am assuming he would not go on the Heathrow Tube with all his stuff), plus 2h check in for international flights. So for an afternoon flight he would have to leave in the morning. Probably didn't hike his stuff to meet Josie so also add time travelling back from wherever they met. I don't think it works tbh.
Meh, they could have done his Coriolanus interview first thing in the morning - it probably wouldn't have taken more than an hour - he could have then hopped on a flight to Toronto in the early afternooon and arrived in the evening local time. Coriolanus interviews with the other cast members and Josie could have continued in London all day - if Tom, Josie, Hadleigh Frasier, Deborah Findlay and Mark Gatiss took an hour each to interview that pretty much takes up the entire day.
>>165 Ah you're right, I forgot about travel and check-in and all that hassle.
Let's make it 11 hours, flight+check-in+reaching the airport, and let's say the girl tweeted as soon as she saw him.
4:56 am on the 10th in Toronto less 11 hours means he left Heathrow at 5:56pm on the 9th, so he could have spent the day working at Coriolanus and still have left yesterday.
All things are possible. He could have been there for an interview. He could have done it first and left early. None of us know. My personal view is that the more likely explanation is that the fan was mistaken.
>165 You're planning that out like he's a normal person, not a famous actor with an assistant, travelling first class. The assistant can get his cases to the airport, he can hop on the tube to Paddington and get the Heathrow Express (which would take less than an hour from Covent Garden), meet the assistant to pick up his cases, he then gets whisked through check-in and security and heads straight to the First Class lounge. He probably only needs to allow an hour/hour and a half at the airport because he's not going to be queueing.
So he heads to the Donmar for 9am, is finished at 10am, makes it to the airport for about 11am, is in the lounge by 11.30am, gets a 1pm flight, lands 3.30pm local time and could be spotted out and about in Toronto that evening.
Does anyone else have a problem with timestamps on tweets? I am in the same time zone as Toronto, and if I open her tweet in my browser it gives a time of 7:56pm but in the Twitter app it lists the time as 10:56pm.
I think we are all overlooking the most important bit of that sighting - the girl did not mention Elizabeth Olsen. ;)
>>172 or a woman hiding into her scarf :)
>>170 No, I am planning that speaking personally as somebody who lives in NW London and travels internationally a lot for work, always first or business class. When you hit security there is always a bottleneck because although there is a fast track lane it is staffed by fewer people. It can be very variable.
>>170 But really, my fundamental issue with the putative "make it to Toronto in time" timetable is that it all sounds so effortful. Why not enjoy a day with your luvvie mates and travel in a more leisurely way the following day? A day like that would be hellishly stressful.
To link to a specific post without having to write the >> , just click/press on the post number you want to reply to, it will automatically appear in the reply box.
>>177 I just tried it and it works! Even on my phone!! You are so clever :))
>>176 I agree with you, but at the same time, it might be he had work to do today in Toronto that forced a stressful flight.
>>179 mine loads but I can only ever see the first page.
>>181 in theory when you reach the end of the page it should load more posts, like it happens with tumblr.
>>180 That's what I was assuming, that he would be press-junketing today and tomorrow before the premiere.
This is the guy who took a red-eye from LA to London the night before Coriolanus rehearsals started, then went straight from Heathrow to the Donmar the next morning. He's quite used to these kind of travel arrangements.
I have totally managed to get through check-in/bag-drop and security at Heathrow within 30-45 minutes before now, even travelling as a pleb, and I'm sure he gets a VIP service that shepherds him through as quickly as possible.
>>181 although that only works with the most recents posts, for the rest you need to register to weibo.
"Sony Pictures Classics Dinner
Sony Pictures Classics is hosting an intimate dinner to celebrate the studio’s six films premiering at TIFF on Sept. 12, at Creme Brasserie. Elisabeth Moss, Tom Hiddleston, and Elizabeth Olsen are slated to attend this years exclusive dinner celebration."
So, SPC's party on the 12th and HR's premiere celebration dinner on the 13th.
From the man himself, ISTL first video clip
https://twitter. com/twhiddleston/status/642009071806124033
Looks like he is concentrating hard while singing!
yeah, but it could be part of the story, like maybe the band was auditioning? He sounds good. I was expecting more stiffness in how he moved considering Hank's back problem, but again maybe at that point in the story the pain wasn't so strong.
He does sound good!
"‘Kong: Skull Island’ Moving From Universal to Warner Bros."
http://variety.com/2015/film/news/kong-skull-island-moving-from-universal-to-warner-bros-1201590301/
"Sources close to the situation say while this is not a done deal, things are moving forward and that the idea is to have future “Kong” films possibly cross over with “Godzilla” films, to which WB owns the sequel rights."
let's hope he doesn't get stuck with another franchise.
Some additional pics for ISTL.
http://www.nola.com/movies/index.ssf/2015/09/i_saw_the_light_tom_hiddleston.html
Since it was TH who posted that clip, do you think he had the scene with EO cut on purpose? lol (just kidding)
>>191 his voice is stronger than Hank's was, but it gives a more modern sound to the songs (I can't stand Hank's singing)
>>193 I can see it now - "Hey Olly, I have a job for you! Cut as much Lizzie Olsen out of this video clip as you can." I have to say it's odd to see a photo of her and Tom together without a scarf or purse covering her face. ;)
>>192 Skull Island is supposed to be set in the 70s, right? Maybe if they do further movies in the series or crossovers with Godzilla they'll be present day, and he won't have to worry about it.
Speaking of Kong, Universal Orlando is putting together some kind of Skull Island ride that will open before the film even comes out.
https://www.universalorlando.com/email-signup/skull-island-reign-of-kong.aspx
>>195 glad I'm not the only one who can't watch them on screen together without laughing a bit :)
But it is strange though, that pic of Hank and Audrey is clearly just after the end of the clip and media must have got it from somewhere, like the full trailer.
>>195 They are opening the ride now in case the film flops or doesn't get made?
>>197 Maybe they're hoping the ride will be a good promotion for it. Either that or they are much more confident in the film's success than we are.
>>198 Pity the ride is at universal and the film is moving to warners!
>>199 Universal has a good relationship with Warner - they license all the Harry Potter films from them for the Wizarding World - so they should be able to work out an arrangement for Skull Island, but it will probably cost them some serious money.
>>196 They probably got it from Torrilla like everybody else!
Red carpet for ISTL has started. Tom and EO arrived separately. Pics on Twitter and Torrilla.
Not I'd say looking very "together". He had more chemistry with Tilda Swinton for ISTL.
"Tom Hiddleston is very impressive in I SAW THE LIGHT, capturing Hank Williams voice with eerie power. I wish the film was better."
https://twitter. com/adambvary/status/642494574372360192
Uh-oh. At least Tom was named as the one positive.
"I SAW THE LIGHT: Tom Hiddleston's musical numbers are the only highlights of this bland Hank Williams biopic. It's an anemic WALK THE LINE."

"I Saw the Light is extremely disappointing. Script and direction are weak but performances good. #TIFF15"

"I Saw The Light: a little long and occasionally clumsy, but well-crafted and anchored by phenomenal performances from its two leads #TIFF15"
https://twitter. com/MaijaKappler/status/642500182526050304
The reviews I'm sharing are a bit more critical of the film, since the very positive ones I've seen have all been from fangirl types. Not the most objective sources. :)
"I Saw the Light and it's mostly dull despite some great singing by Tom Hiddleston. He's electric when on stage as Hank Williams. #TIFF15"

Columnist from the Daily Mail liked it:
"Brit actor @twhiddleston brilliantly captures the sad Southern heart ( & accent) of #HankWilliams in #ISawtheLight"
https://twitter. com/BazBam/status/642499529925857280
"The thing about #ISawtheLight is that @twhiddleston doesn't shy away from #HankWilliams demons & boy-oh-boy can he sing! He captures him."
https://twitter. com/BazBam/status/642502380748165120
"I Saw the Light is for people who care more about Hank Williams' troubles than his genius. Which means it's not for me. #TIFF40"
https://twitter. com/stevepond/status/642504646980947968
"Tom Hiddleston is pretty great in I Saw the Light...if you don't mind that his singing voice is good, but miles from Hank Williams' sound."
https://twitter. com/stevepond/status/642505161504616448
"Like many biopics, I SAW THE LIGHT has powerful performances (Hiddleston & Olsen are perfectly paired) but the movie falls flat. #TIFF15"
https://twitter. com/JasonGuerrasio/status/642505813488201728
Hum. May explain why he has been tweeting about Crimson Peak more. Our boy's no fool and although he reasonably says he's proud of his performance in ISTL he probably knows in his heart of hearts that CP is the better film. I haven't seen a single tweet saying "meh CP".
He looks a bit subdued on the pics I've seen. Though on the bright side, his hair must have been flattened down for that suit photoshoot not cut really short. He looks nice.
Well, I was out enjoying my Friday night, I'll look everything later, but you want to tell me nobody on the red carpet asked if these two are together?

>>211 yep
I'm glad that his performance is well received. As for the film, we kind of knew it wasn't that good didn't we? Only fangirls could think that those not so good reports from the test-screens were a plot against TH.
This one's pretty bad:
www.hitfix.com/awards-campaign/review-tom-hiddleston-sings-but-cant-save-shockingly-bad-i-saw-the-light
If they did, nobody on tumblr has giffed or quoted it yet. State of play appears to be they arrived separately, no hand holding or PDA. There is one photo set of him with a arm around her (other hand in pocket!) but it is in front of the advertising board so whether it is "we are together" or "Tom poses with arm round co star as we have seen a hundred times before" is anybody's guess. Aside from the photos in front of the board I haven't seen any of them where he is touching her, or even where they are standing together save for the q&a after the movie.
And Bora Bora arm is back which made me chuckle: http://the-haven-of-fiction.tumblr.com/post/128872861103/hiddleshoneybunny-twh-news-hiddleslokid
>>215 ouch, but probably very accurate
>>216 There's one photo of them standing together at the after party, a couple of them with the cake, and some of them separately or with other co-stars/crew etc. They arrived at the party separately.
>>216 yes, I've just read EO was papped alone when she arrived in Toronto, but not TH. Given they also arrived separately at the RC, I would go as far as saying they are not even much friendly anymore, BoraBora arm is a declaration :)
Torrilla has video interviews.

>>219 Sorry should have expressed myself better. I knew he had been interviewed but I meant if someone had asked "are you together" I'd have expected it to be clipped or giffed whatever the answer.
>>218 I saw the after party pics. I didn't think they looked very together in Jose either. I appreciate they might not want to give everyone the money shot on the red carpet but if you're with someone surely there comes a point when you hold hands or something. I'd have thought the after party among friends would be that time.
>>223 Yeah. Even if they were together before (which I still doubt), I don't think they are now.
Also, there were a number of reporters doing interviews on the red carpet, but I don't think they've all posted their videos yet. I expect they'll go online during the weekend.
>>223 My bad, I haven't had coffee yet.
In that borabora hand photo she is angled away from him isn't she? not even an arm around him.
>>224 I doubt with you and add that if they were just friend, the friendship is gone now. as far as RC predictions go, we nailed the separate and hardly talking to each other part.
>>224 I am beginning to think you called it right. The body language feels very off to me. With Susanna Fielding he couldn't keep his hands off her. And with Tilda or Jess same thing though they obviously never dated. At the OLLA premiere he and Tilda were so sexy with one another I would have believed it if someone told me they were going out. He held her hand the whole time and he couldn't take his eyes off her.
>>226 High five to all the wonderful people on this board! Sometimes I feel like this is the one place on the internet to find reasonable people, at least in regards to Tom.
Well, I guess TH doesn't have to intensively promote this film at festivals at this point.

>>227 He totally had a crush on Tilda, nobody will be able to convince me otherwise. :)
>>227 Tilda always hold hands with her friends, she said so in an interview, I found their behaviour very similar to how Rachel behaved with TH at TIFF for The Deep Blue See, maternal.
I mean look at this photos, she is not even looking at him.

>>232 Yeah, but in some other photos she is pressing her body against his. I really don't get it...
>>230 I'd go gay for Tilda, I think she's wonderful! Totally agree that he fancied her madly. And she him. I thought they looked gorgeous together. Always assumed that when he was with a GF you'd see the same chemistry. When he's hot for someone it's pretty obvious. Not the case yesterday.
But whence US Weekly? I still don't buy that the May article was a total fabrication.
>>228 And yes totally. That's why I'm here. I like to think we can speculate on a fun way without being crazy about it.
And - most fun of all - bets are on for the HR red carpet....!!!
>>234 it's the thing with photos, they can trick your eyes :)
But the RC was live on periscope and from what I'm reading, they were really distant.
>>236 HR's red carpet prediction: no show for EO.
>>238 I agree. I doubt Tom would want the HR red carpet to turn into some big TH/EO speculation.

>>239 me too. Though that was my prediction when we first discussed it!!
>>242 you know you're right, to make it more interesting we should add motivations, no show because there was never anything going on, because there's nothing going on now or because they don't want that kind of chattering?
Though after last night there's hardly much doubt left and TH's didn't mind the chattering when he was with SF at TIFF.
Maybe we could shift our predictions to HR's dinner party?
>>243 I repeat my post 903 on the last thread (sorry don't know how to link to it)!
Duh I mean 904. Though qaz was also bang on the money in 903.
>>244 Oh yes, and I used your 1 motivation for my prediction if I remember well: there was never anything going on.
We really were quite thorough in thread3, there's basically everything :)
I reckon something went on during filming. The break up of her engagement, him going underground and all method-y, and the original US Weekly article all to my mind point to some intense connection and time together. Whether sexual who knows. I think like most holiday romances once it got into real life it was utimately doomed. Pursegategate looks in retrospect like the last hurrah. I think after that encounter only one person thought the relationship had legs. I imagine its demise has been hastened by the knowledge that the film is a stinker.
So I still go with no 2 on balance - just.
Oh and by the way WHAT is Elizabeth Olsen wearing? She is pretty with a good figure and yet she appears to be wearing the drapes from around Morticia's dressing table. Why?
>>248 Hahaha I know! The dress is awful, and so are the shoes. She looked nice at Deauville a couple days ago in the white dress, I'm not sure what happened between then and TIFF.
