I've never personally flown through LAX, but according to a bunch of "travel experts" here on the internet, Tom would have to collect his baggage and then re-enter through customs to board an international flight. Can someone tell me if this is correct? If it is, the person who said he was leaving may have seen him with his luggage and just assumed he was leaving.
