If I was a billionaire, I'd feel exactly the same and be doing all the same stuff, just in a slightly bigger room.

I don't think I can identify myself as human any more.

Maybe after Moby Dick. Speaking of, I've barely made a dent in it so far, but something about Ishmael's relationship with Quequeeg strikes me as weird. A different time, I guess.

>>116
No, but that might not be a bad idea. It might be rare, but I imagine it's worth it when you run into somebody who knows it.

>>117
Then you already have standards higher than most for identifying a human, unless you're just a trained monkey typist. In that case you got a little ahead of yourself... but really, what makes you say that?

119 Name: ( ˃ ヮ˂) : 1993-09-6795 22:11

I wonder how she will respond.

I have the annoying version of ADD where I remember everything I'd read before I was distracted, and thus experience no impediment to learning, yet nonetheless find it cumbersome to continue my studies.

For all that I disliked the Harry Potter fandom as a teenager, I'm glad the actual stories (and a good deal of fan-fiction for that matter) were genuinely entertaining works of literature. Growing up, it's distressing to see kids these days with their Twilights, Hunger Games, Homestucks and whatnot, who might never know the meaning of good fiction.

Also, what other fandom has created something as amazing as AVPM? That's right; none.

vc: lame

I think the works you mentioned have about equal narrative quality. You are probably looking through a nostalgia filter.

True. I'm more bothered however that in the few short years I've gone from being a closet otaku to a socialite I have experienced more sexual encounters and substance abuse than I ever imagined. I just want to be a quiet nerd again.

154 Name: grey!C.MxxuCiTo : 1993-09-6800 19:39

In your place I would not be worried about any of that but the drugs, but I'm biased.
I've definitely come a long way too. However right now I am stumped as to how to spark conversation with waitress who is being more that usually nice to me.

You might want to pick a time when it won't be too busy and order something small with coffee so she has to come back for refills. More chances to talk. Whatever you'd like to talk about you ought to think about in the intervening periods.

Oh god, this happened to me. A lot of the time I was out clubbing or at a party or something, I would just think, "I could be at home playing cheesy VNs and watching 80s anime right now. Remember those days? They were fun."
Now I'm in that position again and I kind of want to go back to being a buzzing socialite. I guess there's just no pleasing myself.

158 Name: ( ˃ ヮ˂) : 1993-09-6800 22:23

Grass is always greener, eh? I, too, went through a brief period where I surprised myself with my own promiscuity. I realized that such a life can be fun at times, but is not really what I want. Now I'm back to being a mostly quiet nerd with a steady girlfriend that sometimes turns social again on the weekends.

It's good to have many various experiences for the sake of comparison. Just enjoy it while it lasts, you'll strike a balance eventually.

I did this a while ago, probably posted in an older incarnation of this thread. You can't do it automatically because the RSS feed here isn't formatted properly or something. I did it by manually copying all the text, stripping out all the post numbers and names and such. It's kind of a pain.

The secret is to stop thinking and simply enjoy whatever situation you're in. Look at life like one big moment, you know?
