everything should be free
free college
free healthcare
free weed
free housing

pander to my every whim
me, me, me
uhhh don't try to mansplain economics to me, I think I know a thing or two
I follow a couple antifa and DSA accounts on twitter so I'm practically an economist at this point
pay for everything in my life
bernie sanders should have won
i love antifa
why won't you think about ME?
how dare other people spend their hard-earned money on THEMSELVES
fund my life or you're a racist
don't you know how hard it is to live in the richest country in the world??????
i'm extremely oppressed
stop triggering me
i can't handle having my views challenged
Automatization is just over the horizon. We should be expecting fully automated luxury communism in 5 decades instead of worrying whether my children will get their brains fried from within because of a super heat stroke provoked by global warming or devoured by mechanized death spiders built by some libertarian quasi-dictator.
>>489
To my experience, there's also a paralyzing fear of screwing up and rendering your computer useless or your data erased. That's what I notice when I explain stuff to my dad. He needs to be 100% sure that nothing bad will happen if he were to press the stupid button.
>>499
I think you mean automation. Stay in school, homie.
> fully automated luxury communism
Yikes. Go away.
>>500 yeah, pressing the power button is going to make your computer useless
i refuse to believe an actual human being has made it through 65+ years of life with such a retarded viewpoint without anyone slapping the fucking shit out of them
most of what people call "tech literacy" is actually just normal literacy. as in, being able to read what's on the fucking screen and press the corresponding button.
god i hate being tech support for all my brainless boomer relatives with an IQ the same as their age
Either that's just a pasta or he actually wrote all of that and I'm not quite sure which is worse.
mfw someone boomboxes infowars in team chat
Except it's not a case of using a literally incorrect word, but of using a less-common but still correct synonym. Like writing Ϋή instead of ωή.
> Automation is a widely-used word. Automatization is not.
So? Neither is incorrect, whereas defiantly is blatantly incorrect and does mean something completely different from what was intended to convey on any dictionary. You're splitting hairs here, yikes man. Note that is is not intended as an insult or an attack. I'm just pointing out that your suggestion, while not without merit, is pointless and not needed, and also completely tangential, while we are at it.
>>512
My dude, automation is a very commonly used word. Automatization is not.
>>513 "imbibe" is less common than "drink", doesn't mean it's incorrect as long as the thing you're referring to is the act of consuming a fluid.
>>514
Super awkward neckbeardy way of saying it though.
Guess what? Language changes over time. Just like how new words are added, old words are abandoned.
>>515 your first mistake was allowing the opinions of 4000 word vocabulary dipshits to stifle your range of expression.
>Stay in school, homie.
>Yikes. Go away.
>Not everything is an insult or attack.
Is there a dqn slack or discord or something?
Fully automatized gay space communism

Therefs a DQN irc, #dqn on rizon, but not one of those inferior non-elitist web based chats used by teenbros, that would be gross.
fully autisticatized parent-disappointing genetic dead end flawed economic system that has been proven to not work time and time again and literally millions of people have died as a result of it
but hey, those weren't REAL examples of communism
this time will be TOTALLY different, guys
capitalism is bad!!!!
-sent from my iPhone at Starbucks
You know what's funny about liberals? They blame Russia for everything and imply that Russians are evil and America is great. But at the same time, Russia is communist, whereas America is capitalist. Yet American liberals say communism is great.
If you like communism so much, live in Russia. But wait, that would go against your "everything is Russia's fault" narrative.
Maybe communism would be good for obese Americans. After all, communism is the most efficient way to lose weight. The only problem is... you just keep losing it until you die. You either die of starvation or get gulag'd or disappeared for being anti-communist. That is the endgame for communist regimes.
Morons who don't study history think communism means everyone will live in an egalitarian utopia. Historically, that has never been the case. It's also the communist party that's elite, rich, and powerful, while everyone else is poor as fuck. That's not any better than our current economic issues. In fact, it's even worse.
You need to come up with realistic plans instead of idealized bullshit that will never work in reality. Communism doesn't work. Just because capitalism is flawed doesn't mean communism is the answer. That's a stupid thing to say. Mao, Pol Pot, Lenin, Stalin -- extreme death tolls under actual communism.
Venezuela is socialist. And just look at how well they're doing. You know another socialist party? Germany's National Socialist party (aka Nazis). Guess what? It didn't work economically (not to mention the other issues).
Socialism doesn't work. Communism doesn't work. Capitalism doesn't work. We need to think outside the box.
>>521
How would I go about joining that? It keeps saying I can't join because I need an invite or something.
God damn
Indeed.
VATS is not the equivalent of aimed shots from the isometric games. The equivalent of aimed shots is, aiming at something(eg an enemy's leg) and shooting it. More importantly every single character in the game could do that, VATS is special player character magic. It's a tacit admission by Bethesda of "we couldn't make a combat system that wasn't kind of clunky and tedious and shitty so here's a button that does the combat automatically for you every so often"
Fag on the moon...

The Old Homo Space Program
>>515 Language is a beautiful fascinating thing, but it's sad when it's stifled by that kind of mindset. I guess sometimes some people maybe try too hard to sound smart, and that can be a bit annoying, but not as annoying as when someone thinks that's the only reason people use a wider vocabulary. Not as annoying as using "neckbeardy" as an adjective, that made my skin crawl!
It's cool that language is an ever-evolving entity, but semantic drift caused by a large amount of dunderheads misusing words is a personal peeve. It's always been stupid when someone uses the word "literally" just as emphasis or exaggeration rather than its true meaning, but I read they recently added this alternate sense of the word to the dictionary! Don't worry, I'll get over it.
There is actually such a thing as overpreparing. Thought you should keep that in mind.
No, I don't want a "safe space", I want to be able to have this kind of discussion without the other guy being condescending, abrasive, or generally cunty. Unpleasant or uncomfortable topics are fine, but unpleasant people can fuck off and suck a thousand dicks.
>>535
I feel this dilemma on a weekly basis. Take comfort in that this is a constant process, and people now long dead would have recoiled at our butchery of the English language that we now see as correct.
But seriously, three dozen posts over a single word?
Same here, I like to put myself in situations which challenge me and I like to hear all sides of the story, but there's no need to be an arsehole about it. Life's too short... I don't think the denizens of this board are "in a bubble" either
jew jew tv
>when someone uses the word "literally" just as emphasis or exaggeration rather than its true meaning
This is not a new "problem", you know that the words 'really' and 'very' used to mean the same thing as 'literally', right?
>I read they recently added this alternate sense of the word to the dictionary!
I guess if you consider the 1760s "recent" then maybe?
>>540 Nice googling old boy, but take another second to read before you post next time. I never said it was a problem, I said it was a peeve. It was apparently 2013 they updated the definition, so not quite as recent as I thought - but the point I was making was that because a word gained enough widespread misuse amongst the dim majority, they just updated the definition to compensate, lowered the bar if you will. Like I said, I love how language is always evolving, it's sad that the driving force in this case is common ignorance, that's all.
Another example, when my friend says "I made the ultimate sandwich yesterday", I know he means he made an amazing sandwich, maybe one of the greatest, but in my head I still always think "I bet he's gonna make another sandwich pretty soon."
Or "meme" used interchangeably with "image macro", but we've been over that before.
I like it when people complain about the "improper" use of singular "they". Like, cool, I've found someone who remembers when it wasn't the case. They must be at least 400 years old!
> Nice googling old boy, but take another second to read before you post next time.
This is what I mean when I say this should be a nice place, but there are certainly more egregious examples. There's just no need to be so confrontational, defensive and insulting.
>>534
So you're arguing in favor of using different words, but chastising me for using different words. Really makes you think.
>>535
Yeah, I hate that too. But that's an entirely separate issue from pseudointellectuals looking up archaic language in thesauruses in an attempt to sound smart.
>>537
>the other guy
I hate to break it to you, but there are many posters on this site. Not just you and me.
>condescending, abrasive, or generally cunty
>fuck off and suck a thousand dicks
Yes, it's other people who are the problem. Hmmm...
>>540
Is this reall worth arguing about?
>>541
ebin :-DDDDDDDDDDD
> I hate to break it to you, but there are many posters on this site. Not just you and me.
It's generally pretty easy to tell when you're just having a one-on-one with a single person.
> Yes, it's other people who are the problem. Hmmm...

I never really cheated on a test in school, but it was really hard not to see other people's answers. I always told myself it was just to see if I'm going too fast or slow. But I couldn't keep my eyes from wandering and was permanently worried I'd get caught, dammit!
Mexican tuba music sounds awesome, unless it's a disparaging term for general brass music of Mexican origin. Either way I'm about to find out...
My fuckin' mower drive belt broke and now my lawn looks like skrillex
I feel like some people in software development pretend to have imposter syndrome so as to sound more humble and smart than they actually are. It's something along the lines of ``if I say I think I'm dumb and unskilled, maybe people will think I'm really intelligent'' or some shit like that.
Rabbit's high on pain meds.
>>571
I want to have imposter syndrome, because then it means I'm learning instead of having to repeat myself to half of my colleagues several dozen every day. But then I'd have to find a different job, and there's no way of knowing if I'm going to be the dumbest guy in the room until I've been there a while.
Anyway what you said couldn't be more true for artists -- "oh i'm so bad at drawing" is just compliment-bait 99% of the time.
Nobody can give me what I need.

When people used overtly racist shit like ((())) and racial slurs, yes, I called people out on that. What kind of a basement-dwelling neckbeard pretends that racial slurs and antisemitic shit like ((())) isn't racist?

You know, I've got a feeling it's not calling out racist shit that has been causing that.
I've finally accepted that I can't do a unified theory of syntax and code, where syntax is just code applied to the remainder of the program. There's just no nice way of distinguishing a macro from a function, or figuring out what exactly a macro applies to. At least not with how much/little I've fleshed the thing out.
So I'm going to kick-ass-ify the interpreter and make it super flexible, so you can metaprogram how you want.
