What’s that supposed to mean? It means you have no counterpoint to my perfectly valid points about Trump.
I don't think it's much like diet 4chan at all, for one thing. Even amongst textboards it's always had a different kinda vibe, to me at least.
>Weird how there are SJWs who used to contribute to DQN electronics Ann’s yet there are also racist stories here too
That's a funny one too, as if the presence of one rules out the other. I agree a bit in that I was disappointed by the racist arguing recently, that was pretty new. And I guess I was proved right that it kinda let the side down, since someone got an impression of the whole site from those exchanges, but then that's also dumb to assume one anonymous poster speaks for a whole board.
A lot of those memes aren't really relevant to this place either, as mentioned by SWIM.
I am entertained though, it is a fresh kind of entertainment I guess, well done ┐('〜`;)┌
>>663 Oh, sorry, I wasn't talking about Trump, he has nothing to do with my life. That whole American situation is comical to me, both that he even gained power and how butthurt everyone was about it
>>665
Trump affects you too even if you’re not American, sweetie. There’s this thing called international relations. It’s 2018, countries interact with one another now.
>>668 I know the USA is a part of the world and is a part of the global network just like anywhere else, but it makes no real difference to my day-to-day life who's in charge or who they're picking fights with next. It's wilful ignorance in the same way that it's wilful ignorance when I don't read the allergy information before I eat a bar of chocolate, or "wilfully" not knowing what happened in the latest episode of some TV show. But please, tell me more about it dear 668-kun! I get a titter out of Americans thinking the world would end without them.
I hope he doesn't harm himself. Don't worry miserable anon, keep on developing for iOS and keep your chin up!
If you got a DNA test, would you share the results on Facebook?
I am mixed race but “white passing” so I wonder how my friends will react. I haven’t even gotten the test yet but I wonder if it would cause problems for me.
It’s not a topic I bring up much with my friends.
Oh I get it, he's only pretending to be miserable!
>>673 no, but because I don't really need facebook having my entire genetic sequence on file, not because I care about being "white" or not.
>>675
Sharing to Facebook doesn't mean they know your entire genetic sequence. It would just be a screenshot that shows percentages and racial background.
>>674
I'm not miserable. Why are you trying to force this meme?
dude beer lmao
The shitposters are out in full force.
anyone you don't like is a shitposter
anyone who shitposts, i dislike
the expendables is a bad and not good film series
Oh downthemall, what would I do without you?
>>677 Mayyyybe he's not talking about you, but the poor dokyun struggling with depression that sometimes posts sad things? There's more than 2 people here
>There's more than 2 people here
Or is there?
>>686
The fact that he thinks it's about him is all but proof he's miserable.
witch-hunts are a fools errand
There are only three posters here: you, me, and the Sussman.
So which posts are the miserable poster then? The quote function exists for a reason.
In addition, to the usual entirely full paper cups of coffee in the recycle bin, there was half a hamburger today. I still like to think that people get off on this sexually. It's the most reasonable explanation.
I think the "miserable poster" poster is talking about the "this board is shit and you are all stale and I will heal it through unknown means" guy
>>694
What’s miserable about trying to encourage positive change?
>>695 It's like Jehovah's Witnesses coming to your door, who are also trying to encourage positive change. As our Lord Christ said when he was up on the cross, "Worry about yo damn self!"
It's funny because it's very obviously only a surface-level understanding of the place as well, so attempts at spearheading any "improvement" are misguided from the start
>>695,698
It's not so much the goal, it's its execution and motivation. You have to lead by example in this kind of endeavor.

Qualities of successful memes:
• Brief
• Simple, but not TOO simple, otherwise it won't be able to generate discussion or interest
• Confident
• Can't take itself too seriously
• Usually can't be too high-effort
• Easy to understand, even without context (though having backstory/context can add more depth to it)
• Accidental or natural, not some forced "please make this into a meme" shit
• Easily changeable (variation on a theme) so people can add their own spin to it -- derivatives are just as important as the original
• Easily repeatable
• No watermarks, generally no credit to whoever made it -- separating art from the artist
• Posted at the right time and place -- where it is matters just as much as what it is
• Can be used as a reaction rather than as a standalone piece of media
Repeatability
• Funny
• Sometimes, something is a meme simply because it pops up a lot. You think it's funnier when you see it more often. Other times, a meme is only funny at first, and then ages like milk.
• Generally, memes have a lifespan. Old memes shouldn't be posted, especially by corporate social media accounts, because then gen Z will think they're trying too hard to appeal to kids without actually knowing how to do it ("how do you do, fellow kids?") -- conjures up images of out of touch executives in a board room discussing how to appeal to demographics they don't understand
• Being related to current events can help in the short term, but it will ultimately decrease the overall lifespan/trending time of the meme, once said event is no longer current
• Small file size -- can't be too horribly compressed, but it can't be so big that it's unable to be posted on major social media platforms
• If it's visual, a square-ish aspect ratio helps, since people use landscape and portrait mode on their various devices these days, so tall and skinny or wide and short only look good on certain screens and rotations, but not all
• Can't be too big or high resolution -- people will be viewing it on small phone screens, so text or objects in the image need to be bold and easy to see, even if people save it and recompress it, adding more JPEG compression
• Having a unique name can help, so people will be able to find it on google if they try to look it up, as opposed to something generic like "that one weird image"
• The audience is never wrong. If you make content and people don't like it, don't blame the people who are viewing it. The fault is with you. Either you're posting it in the wrong place, or it just isn't good.
• It's not good if you have to justify it or explain it. It should be easy to understand and easy to like.
• Being very specific to a small niche, or being offensive, mean that there will be the capability for a small group to really enjoy it, but it has to be more general and inoffensive if you want it to reach mass appeal. Of course, this is the same problem with pop music -- in order to please lots of people slightly, you have to be bland, so nobody gets obsessively into it. Breadth vs. depth.
• Timeless qualities help extend the life of a meme. Technology and politics age poorly and quickly, so they are definitely not timeless.
Are there corners of the www where "shoop" is still a term used to refer to image macros, memetic or not?
>>729
Maybe people who just woke up from a coma or got out of prison, yes.
Imagine having a terrible health issue that left you in a coma for years. You wake up, use your Windows XP laptop to check MySpace, and it looks completely different. None of your friends are online. Where is everyone?
Prison-induced comma
I had 3 beers at work. Hop 13 or whatever it is (Guinness spin-off) tastes like when you let someone else choose for you at a chain pub. Not recommend.
What's it called when you combine terms like this?
Whiskey sour diesel punk
Made up of:
Whiskey sour (mixed drink)
Sour diesel (dude weed lmao)
Diesel punk (dank aesthetic)

I remember it as a category of newspaper puzzle, and found this https://whatsthephrase.com/word-mashup/
I don't know if there's a specific name for it, or if everything that publishes that kind of puzzle gives it a name of their own devising.
I prefer shoop to calling everything a meme. A meme spreads by people making shoops, riffing on an idea
dank af shoop fam neologisms entering the lexicon it's 2018 wew lad smh tbh 100 emoji hieroglyphics upvoted realtalk #throwbackthursday #selfie #myfirsttweet #postirony do not @ me

shit I fucked up some of those access modifiers but oh well lol
People have been complaining about the generation younger than them for millenia. Millenials are aged between 18 and 38. Maybe usage of current slang isn't an age thing at all.

I can accept those as just labels but also Myers Briggs is hack bullshit
>>747
No it’s not. It’s a good way to figure out who to avoid. If someone tells you they are “INTJ” it means you should avoid them.
