The Unicode Consortium is one of the best examples I know of for the globalist paradigm. An organization starts out with a concrete, desirable goal (allow uniform representation of the characters needed to describe historical, international documents). Good progress is made, and everyone signs on board.

Then the organization switches from pursuing the initial, stated goal to simply prolonging its own existence. Problems (Han unification, homoglyph attacks) go unaddressed, additional feature creep pushes complexity onto software implementations.

Since the organization has adopted a goal that touches such a large number of people, of course there will be some users who are discontent with the decisions. The UC can't please everyone, so they default to pleasing the largest voices: corporations and donors. But those corporations don't care about the issues. They only donate to the UC for PR purposes.

So the result is an organization that doesn't care about fixing anything, funded by corporations that don't care about fixing anything, deriving power because the public vaguely remembers and approves of the goal that nobody is pursuing. The corporations request changes, the UC holds conferences and updates documents, but nobody in the loop actually cares about the result beyond technical curiosity. No problem is being solved.

TL;DR of course. Today they force U+1F688 LIGHT RAIL into your font library, tomorrow they sentence your family to hard labor camps because you hummed a forbidden tune.
