Tumblr is ridiculous with their self-righteousness. You can't control other people's actions, so why worry about them so much, and hound someone who doesn't do exactly as you say? I'm not encouraging obsessive, fangirl behavior by any means, but I'd say Tom is a big boy who can handle himself and should be expecting people taking pictures of him (not saying he likes it--it should just be expected, and I'm sure it is). Tumblr should cool it; aggressively blogging about it isn't going to change anything. It just makes people like me laugh about their condescending attitude.
They say Tom it's not fans property but then they treat him like a their possessions that needs to be defended. Insane
Expecting moderation by a fandom on tumblr is out of question, they make a drama or give extra meaning to the most insignificant things.
I'd say it's much worse a person who follows him out of the theatre to the tube than somebody asking for a photo, at least the second can be refused or replaced with an autograph. It seems like they don't realize he is a grown man, 33 years old, not some boy in need of their protection.
When nobody will post pics of him anymore for fear of an internet aggression, they'll probably complain about the lack of news.
I quite like the shit it stirs up in the fandom (I hate that word) when someone attempts to wade in and tries to educate everyone about fan etiquette. The amount of overreacting is so staggering you can only laugh at it all. I'm sure Tom is beyond giving a shit at this point (well, until Thor 3 - if he's in it, when he might need them all back for marketing purposes).
The best ones are the white-knights who come up with these charitable endeavors to make amends and convince Tom "we're not all like that". So far we have a fundraising appeal for the Donmar Warehouse, a blood drive (organised under the pretense that it was done for his birthday but is primarily because this particular fan is desperate for Tom's attention) and a letter of apology currently being drawn up by a small group of fans because some people stood in an airport arrival lounge to get a picture with Tom and they feel this has brought the fandom into disrepute.
