Thread to talk about the actor Tom Hiddleston

851 Name: Anon : 2018-09-30 17:39 ID:o1bEphas

Oh rly? Well, it never ceases to amaze me how many sanctimonious nannying cunts there are in Tom’s fanbase, who lurk on this board in the hope of sucking up some gossip simultaneously with pretending to be above it all and whingeing when we say something mildly critical. Piss off back to your nanny blog on tumblr.

852 Name: Unknown : 2018-09-30 20:02 ID:xC8EsSI3

Mildly critical? You mean with your foaming in your mouth outburst and misogynistic language. Calling women a cunt or a bitch because she told a funny story about the media calling her "mystery brunette" because she was photographed and hugged Tom and mistakenly thought of as Tom's girlfriend. Good thing Tom is charging $200 plus dollars in dealing with you psychos. I don't blame the man in not dealing with his toxic fanbase, especially on social media. Poor guy.

853 Name: Anon : 2018-09-30 20:14 ID:o1bEphas

>>852 No, I’m calling you a cunt, actually.

I’m calling her a bitch for telling him “I know it was tough with the Taylor stuff but this (meaning her 5 minutes of fame at his expense) is really amazing.” Anyone else - meaning anyone who’s been on this board for more than 3 seconds - think that was a bit self-absorbed/unkind/bitchy?

By the way, I think it was you upthread who said “As always his ego got too big with the little accolades he garnered and took part in the most fake celebrity relationship anyone has ever seen.” So it’s ok for you to say whatever you like but one comment you disagree with and suddenly you are defending him against his “toxic fans”? Fuck off, hypocrite.

854 Name: Anon : 2018-09-30 20:23 ID:o1bEphas

>>852 “Tom is too much of a suck up, he wants everyone to love him” - that was you as well wasn’t it?

You must have a personality disorder if you think you can post stuff like this and then throw around dirt about his “toxic fanbase.”

855 Name: Unknown : 2018-09-30 20:31 ID:xC8EsSI3

Talk to me when you can stop with the ad hominems and using derogatory words like cunt, bitch or whatever type of crap you think up. Can you do that? Dont worry I'll wait. Until then you can take your own advice and fuck off.

856 Name: Anon : 2018-09-30 20:40 ID:o1bEphas

I notice you aren’t denying it was you who said these things, and that you are in no respect able to answer the criticism that you consider yourself free to say whatever you like while getting on your high horse about others’ views that don’t satisfy whatever mysterious morality criteria that exist in your head.

Well, I’ve been commenting on this board since 2014. I will say precisely what I please and you can suck it up. I won’t be going anywhere.

857 Name: Anon : 2018-09-30 20:51 ID:o1bEphas

And I will make one further observation about you and your ilk.

People come in this board and say all sorts of critical things: Tom’s losing his hair, he looks like a scruff, his interviews are extra, his relationship is fake. There has been robust disagreement over the years about whether those things are true or not, but the rule has always been, no criticism of someone for expressing those views. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

It is always, always, the mark of trolls (including you) who come along and seek to criticise the person for expressing the view, and not the view itself. You’re a bad person, a bad fan, or in your charming words a psycho or an misogynist for expressing the view. Almost always the troll is a new or infrequent visitor to the board as well, but obviously a lurker who shows themselves to be every bit as “invested” as the people they seek to criticise.

And you trolls are slowly but surely killing this board. Remember Anon.? (She who started this board which you are so high-handedly seeking to order me off?) She was one of many who made it what it was - she found twitter sightings before anyone else did and they all took them off to tumblr from here. Or Anonon who had great gossip from the TR set. They and many others left because they were sick of people like you coming here and making your sanctimonious little complaints that we were bad fans for expressing our opinions. Well good luck. When you run the rest of us out of town there won’t be anyone left and you can all sit in the tumbleweeds together hoping that Tom reads this and pats you on the head for being top fan. Good luck with that.

You're projecting. A lot.

859 Name: Heynon : 2018-09-30 22:09 ID:bswgVGOG

>>857 Well said.

>>849 I was wondering, myself, if this event was to make a project announcement quietly, maybe one with Josie Rourke. But given that he's recently turned up at a couple of well-publicized events, you're likely right that his rehab/reintroduction rollout is kicking into a higher gear.

860 Name: Unknown : 2018-09-30 23:42 ID:xC8EsSI3

Warning long post. Dgaf if no one reads it or not especially to the person whose it aimed at. This is for posterity sake more then anything.

>>857 So you're taking the "free speech" approach as in "no one judge my opinion and I can say whatever I want without anyone judging it". I called you out because you called Taffy, for no apparent reason because of an innocent remark she said, a bitch. She didnt call Tom names and also reassured him that he didnt need to apologize about the Daily Mail thinking her, a married woman, as his girlfriend. She was telling him it wasn't his fault and she found the claim funny because he was scared of a type of Hiddleswift fiasco again. You on the other had judged this woman for no apparent reason a bitch because she didnt reply the way you wanted to. Do you even know what the definition of a bitch is? Apparently not since you're reading into something that isn't there with her and with me.

You can say whatever you want, but since this a public forum where anyone can join and everyone can judge your opinion about this person, deal with it. That's what free speech is; dealing with the consequences of your opinion in a public forum no less. Say whatever but people will call you out and that person just happened to be me. If you dont want the public to join in then make your own forum and pick and choose whose allowed to join. Problem solved.

I've seen a lot of his fanbase not only harass but use misogynistic language aimed at the women he has relationships to specifically (cunt, whore, bitch) just because they "didnt treat Tom right" whatever the arbitrary "right way" it might be. And theres no mistake it's because they dared to be within arm length of Tom or had/have a relationship with him. Fans are so entitled to this man they have no relationship with. Can't allow someone you or some of the fanbase disapprove of said woman because she will be labeled a cunt or bitch because "reasons" or something arbitrary or simply jealousy or competition.

Plus Tom is the actor, a public figure, he knows it comes with the job in people judging his looks or the typical actor ego. He even has admitted to being pretentious. Taffy isn't an actor whose whole thing is about showing off an image to play with the general public and to Fans. She simply told a story that was aimed at her simply because she was in the close proximity of an actor you're defending for no reason simply because the female reporter didnt say the exact words you would've said if you were in her place.

Tom has taken no offense with her and the interview and if he had he would've told his management to pulled the interview. This is a grown soon to be 38 year old man and you're defending him like he's some child star who cant defend himself and has no idea what he's doing.

Btw people on this same thread have observed him of looking unwell and losing his hair, a thing he himself has admitted to but I dont see you getting their old quotes and calling them a cunt.

You'll probably come with a TL;DR or have some other drawn out reply attacking my character. Yes I judge Tom Hiddleston alot of people do, all celebrities are judged what a shock. I'm sure you'll call them cunts as well or something worse. But I have to remind you freedom of speech is a two way street and I can say whatever I want as well, especially on a thread whose sole purpose is to discuss things and have debates. You simply went off the deep end and attacked my character simply because I called you out on calling this woman you dont know a bitch because of her innocent story about her and Tom.

The one whose exhibiting nannying tendencies is you, you have not called Tom any derogatory names when he has done some unsavory things like hooking up with taken women knowing that they're in relationships (Olsen and Swift). But he's not a whore right? No no must be those cunt women right?

861 Name: Unknown : 2018-09-30 23:43 ID:xC8EsSI3

You who have turned this whole discussion not about asking me why I think you calling Taffy a bitch is misogynistic but of projecting onto me of being a troll because you got PTSD from some other people who didnt conform to your ways and thinking I give a flying fuck about being some actor's #1 fan when, as you've quoted from my past posts, I do no such thing (and even if i were I'm doing an awful job of it with calling out his ego, sycophantic fans dont say the stuff I've said about him).

Oh and btw people who disagree with you aren't trolls so look up that definition along with bitch and what those two words mean before you start accusing people of being either.

I said my piece you can do whatever as always. You can be more colorful and add more derogatory slurs which I'm sure you will do. I'm just posting this out of posterity really I honestly dont care if you reply back. Because I know with the way you replied to me I know no such thing as rationality will come out of you.

Finally thanks for proving my point that his fanbase contain some, more often then not, misogynistic people by you calling me a cunt. So thanks for confirming that, you just proved my point.

On Torilla, a couple of pictures and a short video clip from the "Dickens vs Tolstoy" event today. Lots more of both on social media/tumblr. A video should be posted by the organization in the next 10 days or so. His hair may need its own postal code soon, but he looked good (in uniform, but good).

And now Tom will be performing alongside David Suchet, Patrick Marber, TNM castmate Russell Tovey, Hollow Crown/Deep Blue Sea castmate Simon Russell Beale, Kristin Scott Thomas, etc. in a charity gala celebrating Harold Pinter's birthday, "Pinter at the Pinter"! I'm still wondering what his next project will be. If Tom is really doing the Loki online series for Disney, what does this cerebral thinking man re-boot of his career have to do with that? Is that just about money?

Happy Birthday, Harold will take place on what would have been the Nobel Prize winning playwright’s 88th birthday on October 10th

And now Tom is taking a classic pap walk, while walking Bobby with a tall "mystery brunette" in London. Let the madness begin.

866 Name: Sosorry : 2018-10-03 17:05 ID:zSl8T0x0

>>865 The DM calls her a pal, and also notes that Tom is currently single. Tom's slightly questionable PR team is back, and it is in full effect, gosh help us.

>>863 Thanks! Here's the longest set of video clips I've seen, but they're not good quality:

868 Name: Heynon : 2018-10-04 01:19 ID:bswgVGOG

>>864 Well, no one has officially confirmed the Loki series (even Tom's PR tweeted about it and then deleted the tweet). Maybe he and EO will be asked about it at the Chicago con - they're doing a panel together.

If he does do it, it could just be for the money. Maybe he's going for the sort of life where he does a lot of small charity/passion projects, and does something more pop-culture oriented now and then to finance the rest. I hope there are some videos from the Pinter performances - Pinter's work is so [pause] stylistically different [pause] from anything I've [paaaaauuuse] seen Tom do before.

869 Name: Heynon : 2018-10-04 01:22 ID:bswgVGOG

>>865, >>866 Funny how this comes only a few days after some tumblr anons were commenting that we haven't seen him out with Bobby in quite a while. From what I've seen, reaction to this has been surprisingly subdued (though I haven't checked Twitter - taking a break from the political firestorms here, which have been stressing me out a lot. Thank goodness for new Tom content.)

870 Name: Sosorry : 2018-10-04 03:15 ID:zSl8T0x0

>>869 I think that we're just calmly bemused at the lack of creativity of his PR team. They're definitely well intending one-trick ponies. Remember when Tom took a pap walk w that brunette in the short skirt, while walking in his neighborhood, and she was a regular at Ginger and White? Now we have another brunette on a scheduled neighborhood pap walk, and she is apparently in the TH fandom, and became a local resident and a regular at Ginger and White to meet Tom?! Joanna gets press for her singer/songwriting career, he gets a little press for the day. Also reminds me of when Tom was seen out and about w his RADA chum Sian, but the photos are even more benign.

871 Name: Sosorry : 2018-10-04 19:20 ID:zSl8T0x0

A few more torilla pics of Tom on the pap walk, while talking to a mother and a daughter who are either fans or they are asking him for directions.

Celebitchy is pretty biased against Hiddleston: "My vibe from the photos isn’t “hot and heavy.” I’m not even sure that Tom is capable of looking hot & heavy with someone in candid photos..." Ouch. but maybe it's good that even Tom's critics acknowledge how he's consistently pulled back from the press and from PR shenanigans, and is trying to get back to a more grounded life.

"Here’s some good news, maybe. To think that just two or three years ago, Tom Hiddleston would have caused worldwide headlines whenever he was photographed with a lady, but nowadays, he can walk down the street with a woman and most people just shrug. I think that’s what he wants, by the way – he had a taste of what it was like to date someone super-famous and have his every public appearance scrutinized, and he doesn’t want that anymore." "

Tom was just seen in classic white tie and tails at the Annual Banquet of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, held at the Mansion House in London. There is a great pic of the invitation, and a short paragraph about Tom's Scottish ancestors who worked in the shipping industry on the hiddlesfashion blog. I'm not sure his messy hair and beard go with such a distinguished dress code, but it's great to see him out and about. Tom's image reboot continues, but what is he rebooting towards? Hmm...

Deadline states that the Loki/Scarlet Witch w Hiddleston and Olsen series is one of several "potential series" tipped to be offered with the new Disney streaming service, along with a Winter Soldier/Falcon series, set for late 2019. We shall see...Btw, why wasn't Tom cast in Kenneth Branagh's new film about the life of Shakespeare starring Ken and Dame Judi Dench? And apparently, casting for Ken's Poirot sequel Death on the Nile has started and includes Armie Hammer and Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot. Fingers crossed that AH didn't swipe the romantic male lead part of Simon.

890 Name: Sosorry : 2018-11-02 05:18 ID:zSl8T0x0

Apparently the reviewers are not claiming that the new LeCarre/BBC adaptation of The Little Drummer Girl is as seductive entertainment as "Hiddleston's buttock-baring spy romp" Night Manager hit. I guess that's a compliment of sorts.

"On this evidence, one third of the six-part whole, this slow-burner lacks the instantly seductive appeal of Night Manager." "Though it is more faithful to its source novel than Night Manager, the screenplay by Michael Lesslie and Claire Wilson strips out much of le Carre's moral and political anguish without adding enough of the sexy thriller elements that made Tom Hiddleston's buttock-baring spy romp into deluxe pulp television."

891 Name: Heynon : 2018-11-07 01:50 ID:bswgVGOG

>>889 I suspect Armie Hammer wouldn't have been announced for the DOTN cast unless he will be the romantic male lead, alas. But also maybe just as well for Tom - the release date for it just moved almost a year later than originally scheduled:

Maybe Tom will have a cameo in KB's Shakespeare bio. From IMDB, it looks as though the principal cast is quite small. But yes, this project would have fit in quite nicely with his current off-the-radar approach.

Tom Hiddleston is officially confirmed for the Loki Disney series. Wow. I'm numb. Should be a solid paycheck, but how does his career as a dramatic actor evolve as well? Does he do plays when he is not filming? Is he still going to fight for supporting roles in dramas? I'm confused.

899 Name: Heynon : 2018-11-09 04:00 ID:bswgVGOG

>>898 Boy, it’s starting to feel like “what career as a dramatic actor”? At least based on what we have (not) seen for the last 2 years, except for RadHam. His Brit and MCU peers all seem to be getting work, and he’s getting... convention cash. I wonder if he’s working on moving into producing or directing and is building up a large sum with which he can bankroll projects.

Tom just posted a new work project on Twitter w a brand new video!! Speculation is that this is a teaser trailer for a new TV adaptation of the lauded Harold Pinter play Betrayal. That is currently unconfirmed, but Hiddleston did wear this suit, while appearing at a London gala honouring Pinter just last month.

906 Name: Heynon : 2018-11-15 00:56 ID:bswgVGOG

>>905 Very interesting. His scene at the Pinter gala was from "Betrayal." I googled, and it hasn't had a major production in London for about seven years, which seems to be a typical amount of time to pass between its revivals. And as of the date of that Josie Rourke interview, her last production at the Donmar hadn't been announced yet.

Al Pacino will be starring in a film adaptation of King Lear. Team Tom should try to nab him a role in this. Maybe Edmund, as his friend John Macmillan just played that part in the BBC version w Anthony Hopkins? Or Edgar, perhaps?

913 Name: Heynon : 2018-11-25 18:42 ID:bswgVGOG

>>912 That could be good - per the Guardian article, Pacino's "Merchant" made better money than most Shakespeare films. It's supposed to start filming next fall, though, which might conflict with the Loki series going into production.

If he does get a role in this, I'd like to see him play Edgar rather than Edmund. I don't think he needs another villain on his resume right now.

And he could work on his Pacino imitation :).

I knew that Emmy Awards onstage twirling session would come back to haunt him! No more hanging out near thirsty people, or being thirsty yourself, Tom! They had to cave in and remove the article, though.

>>921 Though not hanging out with thirsty people could be a challenge, given his profession (especially the movie industry).

Speaking of which, I was sorry to see that no sooner had the new Loki series been announced, his rank in the Bond betting jumped up again. I so wish that would stop.

This Week in Hiddlesland

Ending Dec. 23, 2018:

  • Various sightings in London and Hampshire from Twitter, including:

-- this one involving quantum mechanics: twitterDOTcom/OrigamiOgma/status/1076180692567027712
-- bonus from the previous week - one of a tube sighting with photo (via tumblr since the OP removed the picture):

Oh dear. The oral surgeon father of actress Maddison Hasson, who played Tom’s teen bride in ISTL, Billie Jean, has been accused of sexually abusing at least four women while they were under the influence of anaesthesia and in his care at a clinic in North Carolina. This includes one count of 2nd degree forcible sex offense. I hope that these women receive swift justice under the law. Those poor women. Of course the DM used the picture of Tom w Maddie at a premiere of ISTL. This story is so disturbing.

928 Name: Heynon : 2019-02-06 01:53 ID:dA6/CvIC

>>927 The thought of someone you ought to be able to trust taking intimate advantage of young women is bad enough, but to do it when they were under anesthesia is despicable. I hope they throw the book at him.

At least the DM didn't use the ISTL picture at the top of the story, and restrained themselves from somehow working TS into it!

P.S. Welcome back! I was wondering if I was the only holdout....

>>928 Thanks for the welcome back. I think that people are just waiting until more of the Betrayal PR really kicks off, or news of an additional new project pops up. Tom looked so awkward, guarded and self aware in the pics of him leaving Craig's restaurant in LA. It's like he has his fingers crossed that no one calls him a famewhore for doing pap strolls, and that no one writes about TS in the DM articles. Pics of Tom leaving Barbara Broccoli's pre-BAFTA party at the Savoy Hotel from Torilla. Please no more silly Bond conversations till Daniel Craig is finished with his last film!

Pics of Tom attending the press night for Ivo Van Hove's new production of All About Eve w Gillian Andersen and Lily James. I love Ivo Van Hove, but All About Eve is a pretty perfect movie, and doesn't need to be a stage play. Neither does Network or To Kill a Mockingbird, IMO. His Betrayal costars, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox were there, too. Tom's wearing his burgundy sweater under his navy pea coat, which is a nice change.

>>929, >>930 Interesting contrast between these sets of pictures. In the first two (Craig's and pre-BAFTA), he's scarcely smiling at all, even in the posed shots at the party. But he's all smiles in the ones for the press night. Because he had company for that event (his Betrayal co-stars)? Because he knows he's about to have to do more events as promo for his play and he needs the story not to be about how glum he looks? At least he finally trimmed his side beard and the dimples are once again visible.

>>929 Saw a day or two ago that the next Bond flick has been delayed, so the silliness will be prolonged. At least there weren't any articles after B. Broccoli's party about Tom / Bond.

>>930 Heartily agree that All About Eve is a great movie and doesn't need to be a play! From what I've seen about To Kill a Mockingbird, though, it seems like enough of a different interpretation from the movie that it's a justifiable adaptation.

Article on the new Loki Series, and the new Scarlett Witch/Vision series. Apparently these new Marvel projects will work in the same timeline with the Marvel films, and they will be supervised by the same creative team as the films, contrary to the other Marvel shows so far. The actors will sign on for only 9-10 series at a time. Hopefully Tom will get to executive produce the series, make some serious residuals, and negotiate a pay raise after season 1.

Video of Tom and his costar Zawe Ashton seen leaving the theatre together, in his car. Heading to a party, maybe?

941 Name: Heynon : 2019-03-10 20:08 ID:dA6/CvIC

>>940 Could be - he looked to be carrying a bottle of something alcoholic. But it also looked as if he got in the front seat of the car, while Zawe was in the back, so I doubt that this glimpse together means anything.

I like that Bobby has been there for every performance except the matinee day!

942 Name: Sosorry : 2019-03-11 15:14 ID:zSl8T0x0

>>941 I agree. Apparently co-star Charlie Cox was also in the back of the car, that's why I said co-star Zara, and not rumoured gf, or anything. And Yay! Even celebitchy and the commentators are calling out Taylor Swift for her silly Elle magazine article, and for her habit of orchestrating PR relationships and PR friendships for beneficial press to sell albums. Since all of her stunting partners, including Tom, Karlie Kloss, and even Kim Kardashian have emotionally moved on, and are not talking about her, and that TS is the problem. Wow! Where were they durnig the summor of terror?!

Random recent bits I’ve found interesting:

  • And an aspiring actor tweeted (though he’s since deleted it) some advice he got from Tom when they met: “Never give up. Find your type and something specific for you, and always be on time!” The beginning and end are things we’ve heard from Tom before, so the middle one, while new, is also likely what he said. Interesting that he may now be realizing that yes, he is a type, as much as he’s wanted to go against it. And that he may be more successful if he tries to fight parts that are a natural fit for him.

946 Name: Heynon : 2019-03-19 01:25 ID:dA6/CvIC

>>941 Oh, the Celebitchy commentators were busy defending the reality of the Summer of Terror during it, IIRC!

>>943 That first DM review read as if the writer had to be restrained from including Tayto and the Shirt of Shame yet again. The second review was more professional, though they singled out Zawe as the best of the three:

Tom interviews film composer Nicholas Britell, composer of If Beale Street Could Talk and the HBO show Succession, on the Only Artists program on BBC Radio 4. Tom is in his cerebral element. And of course he mentions The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack, and he quotes his lines from Othello. Tom needs to improve his classical musical references, though. We all love Debussy Claire de Lune, but enough of that, already. It was mentioned in the teeny bopper film, Twilight.
