I'm not sure if I'm right about this, but I think there are quite a few people who fake interest in sports for one reason or another. I like to imagine that by some chance a whole sports viewing party could have been arranged that was composed only of these kinds of people. Maybe a sports fanatic arranges a party but ends up not being able to attend, leaving a group of people who can see it in each others' eyes that they don't want to be there, but no one is willing to admit it.
