The restaurant chain Panera has the limpest, wettest, most pathetic background music playlist in the world. The place also has an extremely overpriced menu.

I always thought it was relatively cheap. At least the last time I went 3 years ago. And I didn't even realize music was playing at all since they kept it so low.

Today I saw the first butterfly of the season, how exciting! It was a Red Admiral.
I got a mix tape about a week ago that I've been listening to a lot. One side is all dub except the last track (which is punk). The other side is all independent punk and garage rock except the last track (which is dub). I really like most of the tracks. I can't find any of the tracks online by searching the lyrics because they're super underground indie stuff.
Asshat, cockblanket, vaginacloak, pelviscrock, dongtrouser, bitchmitten.

Which Metal Gear game should I play after 3?

I can't believe it.
There is an entity with non-integer dimensional character inside my skull.
>>31 well, 3 is a prequel; have you played 2? I'd just play them in order, though i never properly played 3, just watched my brother play through it, I think I saw most of it. I recently went back to 2 after finishing 4 a second time, because my not-really-into-games girlfriend really liked the story so we decided to play 2. It's interesting going back through it after so long since last time I played it, with the full knowledge of not only what happens in the game but also the further background gained from 4, I notice more things that happen early on and things make more sense.
If you only played half of it, there's some great stuff happens later on, and I'll think you'll appreciate it even more than me if you've just finished 3. Stuff in 3 they refer to, I only half-knew what they were talking about and I was still like "woah yowza holy shit cool"
Acting ain't your strong point.
>>35
I got the HD collection so I'll probably jump to peace walker after. Then I'll do 2 and if I can get it for cheap, finish 4
It's quite true; it's only myself that I have yet to overcome.

It means that, in order to do as well as possible in my upcoming exams, what I have to overcome is not the course content (which I have been over many, many times now) but my own fear, stress, anxiety and such.
>>40
I'm going to do poorly on my electrical circuits test because I spent the night playing MGS3 instead of actually learning the material.
It's amazing how quick some people are to renounce something they've done, or been made to do, as "pointless" or "a waste of time" simply because there was no proof of any direct benefit to them; that is to say, they didn't gain any money, qualifications, social standing or anything like that. If they truly feel that these things are more important then their own experiences - their life - then I really do worry for them.

I'm not Hard Scince Guy, but it's well-established that psychological studies and questionnaires on personality types only find the traits they are looking for. They have to deliberately ignore all nuances of the subject's personality and focus only on the questions they ask, otherwise giving a result is difficult.
Hell, even the whole field of psychology is split into clans, or gperspectivesh, where if your research is not situated firmly within a perspective, conducting experiments and viewing results in a specific way and ignoring all else, your work will never be taken seriously by the psychological community. It's bizarre.
>>81
It was just an ordinary spiny phallus-shaped cactus, and it died almost as soon as I got it, so I didn't have a chance to name it or anything like that. Poor thing.
>Hell, even the whole field of psychology is split into clans, or gperspectivesh, where if your research is not situated firmly within a perspective, conducting experiments and viewing results in a specific way and ignoring all else, your work will never be taken seriously by the psychological community. It's bizarre.
The whole of 'science'. For example, in physics, the 'dominant' view is that space, all space, not just that beyond the sky, is empty as in void and populated by 'things-in-themselves' called particles which make up other things-in-themselves. But that view has never been 'proved' and there has always been a scientific minority that has disagreed with it; for example, that space is an energy-plenum that has a wave or flow structure, and that particles are only 'appearances'.
>>94
Nah, with that example, the dominant view is widely recognised as the correct view.
In psychology, all perspectives are just as valid as each other, but if you don't choose and use a perspective, the whole perspective and nothing but that perspective, then it's not Psychology™.
You will, for example, have to attempt to explain odd findings from within that perspective, even if a different one offers a completely reasonable, intuitive and simple explanation.

On the condition that the graphics are true AA.
>>135
Should be possible to make it AA (or a close approximation) by defining constraints for the 3D world and the camera/projection, and then doing some "AA conversion" post-processing (primarily edge detection and some simplified OCR), though that could potentially turn out to be too computationally expensive. Maybe there'd be a way of significantly optimising the post-processing pass by using custom shaders and having some of the AA conversion data be rendered straight from the scene?
There's the possibility of basically going for billboards, but I fear that wouldn't be satisfactory because there's the rest of the 3D environment to AAify.
As I imagine the environments would be quite simple, some kind of full-software rendering should be feasible, and that could make the task a lot simpler.
You could also render the game at a very low resolution (only a handful of pixels per eventual AA character) and use a special filter (akin to the hq[234]x ones) to get the end result.
You can of course make a custom font to use, too; and then as long as the entire rendered scene only consisted of glyphs from that font (along with line/character spacing) it should be enough to call the graphics AA (even if some of the individual glyphs used were too custom to be "true AA").
Combining a few of these techniques should make it possible to make a game AA-styled, even a 3D one. I may attempt that someday.
Of course, the image that inspired the creators wasn't "true AA" itself.

I got trained at a Costa Coffee branch in a motorway service station once, and I hate coffee but I hoped getting training would help me get a job when I got back to the city. Part of the process, after making the coffee and heating the milk and putting the parts into the mug in the right way, is checking for quality - the colour, the smell and taste. So I had to taste the coffee to say "blechhhh I mean yup tastes good" No, I don't like coffee.

Why is this board so dead on the weekends? Do you guys have lives or something? Friends and romantic interests you spend Saturdays with? Or do you guys just pretend to have lives and not post on weekends so people think you have lives?
420
I think it's because during the weekdays, the people who have school or jobs resort to more passive activities in their free time such as checking DQN, or another board, listening to music, or mindlessly browsing the internet. On the weekends they have time to set aside a good amount of time for their hobbies, such as marathoning some shows they meant to watch, trying to beat a level in a game, or going to that trendy new restaurant they meant to check out.
That is pretty much what my life is like when I'm not on a break.
I kind of went on a tangent there, what I was trying to say is that on the weekend a lot of time is freed up for them to indulge in their hobbies that can't be enjoyed during a lunch time break from work or between classes (like posting on DQN)
Anyways, >>379, please listen to me. That it's really related to this thread.
I went to a trendy new restaurant a while ago; you know, the Ethiopian place?
Well anyways there was an insane number of people there, and I couldn't get in.

>>448
I used to wonder the same thing, so eventually I went to a psychologist and she suggested trying meds... I figured it wouldn't hurt to give them a try, and I was surprised how much my life changed for the better after a few months on them. Of course meds should be accompanied with cognitive behavioral therapy, in which you basically train your brain to stop thinking of everything in a negative light.

Yeah right because if your depressed it must be because of internal processes and thinking in negative lights.
>>454
The causes of depression are many and varied, and extremely poorly understood, so the best we can do is treat the symptoms. Antidepressants just mask the disorder; as soon as you stop taking the pills you relapse. Treating negative thinking patterns, at the very least, can provide a more permanent solution.

Mostly, yes. At first I bit into her butt with the intention of munching right through, but itfs impossible! Human skin is so thick. I ended up with a sore jaw, although I managed to leave some teeth marks. I ended up swallowing the clitoris and some pubes without chewing on it because she had her period then and the smell was just horrendous. But it was the first moment that I actually felt a sort of sexual pleasure in eating her, as if my inner body was on fire. Also, you know how beef or whale meat has a sort of beastly smell to it? Human meat is odorless. I actually believe that human meat is the tastiest of all meats. It doesnft have any of that gamey animal smell. When I ate some more a couple of days later, just before I got arrested, the meat had become sweeter and it tasted great. The meat on the soles of her feet smelled bad, though, and didnft taste very nice. The neck was the best. The meat tastes more delicate as you move up the body, especially above the torso. Her tongue was delicious as well. I took it out of her mouth and chewed on it raw. Neither the neck nor the tongue has much meat on it, though, so if you really want to feast, you should eat the thighs.

>>737 Yes, I took it back and got a refund. Since then I also found another Spyro game, Dawn Of The Dragon, in a charity shop, which was badly scratched so I took it back. It was the third one in the trilogy anyway, so we got the first one and finished it, and now we're on the second one. It's kinda nice to think that in the grand tapestry of the human race, I'm part of a probably quite small pigeonhole of "People who have returned 2 Spyro games for refund"

I have had the chance to experience death through dreams a few times now. I distinctly remember the first time: I instinctively leaped after my dog when he slipped off a cliff. An entirely unique feeling rose in my chest, a lump of excitement and sadness. Time slowed down, or more accurately my thoughts sped up, and I realized I had crossed the point of no return, I was falling to certain death. I grimly accepted the end and mentally professed my love for my family.
In my most recent death-dream, I was at a town meeting when a mad samurai ran in and began to argue and threaten. I stood up to try to stop him, but he sliced off my arm, then sliced me in half. Pain was there but an afterthought. That unique feeling returned. I grimly accepted the end. "Well, this is it. Time for my last thoughts. ... I love <enter girlfriend's name here>!"
I suppose it's nice I have the ability to consider other people in my last moment. I wonder if this is what dying is really like?

A good number of these games are hard as balls and not only does he get through some very difficult games, he also fails spectacularly at others (many of these he's playing blind). Sometimes it's comedic antics that do him in, though.
As a side effect, you get to learn a bit about the history of video games from a Japanese perspective.
>>896
No I mean why is there a company paying a guy to play 20 year old games? Are the higher ups in the company just doing it for shits and giggles
>>897
For entertainment, and a lot of people are thoroughly entertained by it.
Why are people paid to sing or act? We all know those are for recreation. Real work involves shooting people and digging pits.
>>898
So is his game playing being recorded and broadcast on TV part of the universe's canon?
>>897
He plays the games because that's his job.
If you still have a hard time activating your suspension-of-disbelief circuits, I offer two separate interpretations:
I installed a copy of Win7 that I got through my school, on one of my friends computers. But the activation code will not work and the call center directed me to a department that is closed for the weekend.
Someone please talk me out of paying $200 for a shirt.

I missed you without even knowing it.
I'm already significantly above average height here in England. If I went to Japan, I would tower above everyone like some sort of nightmarish bearded demon.
Good night, my love.

Won't you lend your lungs to me? Mine are collapsing. Plant my feet and bitterly breathe up the time that's passing. Breath I'll take and breath I'll give pray the day's not poison. Stand among the ones that live In lonely indecision.
I've been having very vivid dreams for the last several days. I wonder what's causing it.

I too am sick of having two of these threads on the front page at once. The novelty has long since worn off.

>>936 I dreamt last night that I had read secret documents about these one-winged spy planes that could cause massive destruction somehow, and then I saw them being launched later; big white coils of metal, then a wing uncurls and a tailfin, and they spun off like boomerangs, or those seeds that fall spinning rom trees, then I woke up with sleep paralysis
>>952 What did you get? I think I got a Modeselektor album from shitkatapult
>>957 I feel all out of sorts when I miss DQN or a couple of days so I always like to catch up on all the posts I missed. It's been interesting seeing what times the two threads get most posts, when some people go to sleep and some come post, but I am also looking forward to righteous consolidation.
This chap does an awful lot of clapping.

Mine involved international conflict (mostly N. Korea and Japan but it was going to lead to a world war), popcorn, me getting angry, raping houseplants for store discounts, and my furniture missing.
When I read >>969 I imagined that shitkatapult was a site where you sign up and send random shit to random people and get random shit in return. I was disappointed to google and find it was just a normal music label.

Well that would be really fun to do. Someone should make this
