What is Anki and how does it work? And does it work?

914 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8402 16:36

>>913 anki is a SRS (spaced repetition software) program. Basically virtual flash cards. The idea is that it repeats cards in roughly the same interval as you would encounter them in actual texts or in real life. It works well in conjunction with other learning methods, but some people do nothing but spam kanji flash cards all day and then wonder why they're not learning anything.

It's also useful not just for Japanese but for any kind of flash-card-able material, I've heard of people using it to remember mathematical formulas and things as well.

I have a real problem with people who tell others to "deal with it" or similar stuff. It's annoying because it's an easy way for people to try to shut down complaining or criticism that they're not comfortable with. Usually the people who say such things are acting in a haughty way that's totally undeserved. Sadly there are way too many of these kinds of shitheads in the world.

It could just be rose-tinted nostalgia, but I remember a golden age when Google gave useful results most of the time. Now it seems that the best result is just a Wikipedia entry (often useful, but not always) and the rest of results are shitty SEO blogs or clickbait "journalism" sites. I've tried DuckDuckGo and other engines, but none quite seem to measure up.

960 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8405 18:40

I have a deep conflict at the moment between the preference for pure content, inspired by anonymous sites - where the highest ideal is to entertain others without incentives like gaining a reputation, and my distaste for the way sites like Wikipedia and Wikia don't really do much to credit the individuals who actually put in the content, instead just acting like it was sort of always there.

I don't think it's quite as hypocritical as it first appears (since really it's probably more a lamentation of the death of tangible individuals online [who'd make their own sites showing the stuff they found] amusingly at a time when individualism is taken as so important, and not so much a desire for any credit or adulation for myself.)

– Material estructural

– Señalizador bioquímico
