>>200 air miles, I guess.

I think, but am too lazy to check, that the trips to LA had always some other non Tayto related reason (such as Comic Con). I don't think he ever flew out to the states purely to stunt with her.

Yes, that slip of paper graduated from RADA also. That's why we thought it was a real present! It had the best training money can buy!

It's currently appearing as a scroll on Game of Thrones.

>>206 HA!

But could they become more than just friends? Hmmmmm. Now that Tayto is no more, and Tayto Two, Tayto-ier, is nothing but the collective wet dream of thousands of Swifties, could Tom find love with a simple piece of pressed wood pulp that doesn't own a private jet?

They say opposites attract. Maybe Tom's past relationships failed because he was dating live women. Perhaps an inanimate object would be just right for him. (And, yes, I know TS is pretty much just an inanimate object.)

>>204 So AMC paid the flight and TH added a fake a meeting just to break up two weeks later. I don't know, anything could be really, but I would find easier to believe a fake meeting if it had been TS flying all the way to OZ to be papped strolling around in Brisbane.

>>209 TS was never going back to australia. First, she just had go get out of the country during the Kimye Snapchat tape takedown. AND, after they returned to LA Tom's agent, Luke and the West Coast Rep for Toms management Team in NYC at Comic Con, and then his manager in NYC and his Soho lawyers together with NY based Marvel wrangled him and pulled Tom out of Swifts narrative of date night pics. Thats why TS raced back to Nashville after one day for the Hillstone pap night, the last time they would ever appear anywhere near each other, deemed by Team Tom.

This Allie Esiri is the same woman of the Love Book app from year 2013, so it seems like a favour to her - cynicism kicks in - while also being beneficial for him, since it gives him this aura of being humble and normal again. The Evening Standard Awards has probably the same purpose, after all sooner or later he had to go back out there in the UK and pretend he is a serious actor who did NOT have a showmance with a pop idol who can't breath without lying.

>>235 I was wondering, is the dailymail pushing TS's name into every article in order to get more clicks, like they did with the Evening Standard awards? And did Team Tom call the paps today to take pics of the UNICEF meeting with the UNICEF workers, including his blonde colleague to separate his narrative from Taylor's? I guess a lot of the Ginger and White cafe pictures in general are/and have been organized by Team Tom from the start. I now have to question everything. So annoying. But, congrats and luck to the whole Night Manager team for their Critics Choice Awards nominations for Hugh, Tom, Elizabeth and the show. I fear it's the year for the People v OJ, at least in the US. The Bafta tv awards should work out better for TNM.

237 Name: Anon : 2016-11-16 13:00 ID:/Pmhoe+W

Well his time in ma hood was pretty limited! Already he is back on the West Coast. Arrived at LAX I think yesterday. Looks seriously pissy about the photographers and we have video (!) of him walking to his car:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3940436/Tom-Hiddleston-looks-little-weary-arriving-LA-London-trip.html .

I am struck by how much his level of pap recognition/hassle has changed in recent months and also by the marked change in demeanour. Anyone remember him laughing at LAX when asked about the Sony hack? Pretty gracious and very relaxed despite having come off 8 weeks of filming ISTL and looking really tired.

238 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-11-16 13:16 ID:Heaven

>>236 I think it's fair to assume the tip of this UNICEF meeting at G&W was by TeamTom, how would anyone at the DM know that the girl was a UNICEF worker? I suppose it was an attempt to change the narrative about him and having his name connected to something other than TS.

As attempts go, it was feeble and pointless, not only as long as TS doesn't acquire a new bf, TH will be her last and he will still be asked about it, but the general public doesn't follow his every movements, so it will take much more than this papwalk or an appearance at somne awards to change things.

239 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-11-16 13:18 ID:Heaven

>>237 TNM promotion for the Critics Choice Awards or trying to land a role? Or both? Maybe he'll hire another agent!

Funny, I've just written he is going to be asked about TS no matter what and bam, paps at LAX did just that, no wonder he looked pissed. But, hey, he only has himself to blame if all poeple can remember about him right now is his summer showmance.

240 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-11-16 13:32 ID:Heaven

Btw, I read something at CB, veranda woman - or women they have multiplied in the weeks since I last checked - wrote that a poster claims TH's theatre play might be Sam Mendes's the Ferryman (the poster in question is the one we talked about here 4-ch.net/tv/kareha.pl/1471450962/716 so reliability isn't really that strong).

Now, the Ferryman will run at The Royal Court Theatre from end of April to end of May. Things is, the play is already sold out, so if TH had been cast why wasn't it announced?

Maybe I'm wrong and in a week or a month we'll post the news, but right now I think his stans just thought this might be the case because of that rumour that TH met with Sam Mendes pre Tayto.

241 Name: Anon : 2016-11-16 13:41 ID:NzD7J3MD

>>239 I didn't have the sound up - no wonder he looked cross.

The DM didn't know the woman was from UNICEF - that was found out by Torrilla who posted her name and previous pics of Tom with her. They went with the "Tom sees mystery blonde" line, at least initially (they may have updated later).

But you and Sosorry are right that the DM presumably did not get a photog to stake out Hampstead High St until he appeared one day (not least because this was not the branch of G&W nearest his home where he usually goes). When it has been a pap hanging around to get him they have always hung out right by his front door - the only guaranteed way to get a pic. Hence pics of him at his local G&W or jogging past the 7/11 by his front door.

So yep, smells like a tip off.

242 Name: Anon : 2016-11-16 13:49 ID:NzD7J3MD

>>240 I read that and I was in 2 minds whether to post it.

I read on a theatre board some woman who said she started the rumour unintentionally. She had got tickets for The Ferryman and she said on her tumblr account she thought it would be a great project for him. One of her followers was one of the super stans (I think the super clever one), who then repeated it and said it must be true because he met with Sam Mendes a while ago. Since then t has gained a lot of traction.

One one level I suppose it is a plausible guess - TH hinted at a new project which he hasn't announced and he did meet with Mendes. And it would explain the apparent gap. It also has a well known west end producer which says to me it is set up for a west end transfer. And no casting has been announced for any Royal Court play next season.

On the other hand - The author of The Ferryman also wrote Jerusalem. If I had been keeping up I would have bought tickets on spec anyway as I loved it. So it selling out is probably nothing to do with any casting rumour. And - I bear this in mind a lot - when TH met with Mendes he was all about Bond whatever he said to the contrary, and I feel strongly that the Mendes meeting was all about that.

Which CB thread mentioned the casting rumour? Can you post a link?

243 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-11-16 14:10 ID:Heaven

>>241 I must have read the updated version then, because the DM article now calls her "his UNICEF colleague".

>>242 I read it in the last CB's thread about TH, this is the link to the comment http://www.celebitchy.com/512292/tom_hiddleston_was_seen_out_in_london_with_a_mystery_blonde_hmmm/#comment-15282322

Oh joy. He is on Kimmel tonight to premiere the Shit Island trailer. Hang onto your....toilet paper.

245 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-11-16 20:59 ID:Heaven

>>244 It's too much to hope Kimmel will make some TayTo related jokes is it? It will only be niceties about Shitty Island:

Kimmel:"Oh, it looks amazing"
TH:"I had an amazing time shooting this (I hadn't screwed up my reputation back then, I was still pretending not to be banging EO, better move on) and JVR is a fantastic director (who had a beef with the girl I was banging after EO, moving on) and it was great to work again with SLJ (who is in Avenger and that might lead to RDJ and his instragram post about my I>3TS tshirt, where's Luke?!?!) and we had a great time every weekend with Brie (this one is safe...no wait, we did reshoots and maybe it's better not to remind production that we spent more time organising our weekends than working, this is a nightmare)

If you see him wringing his hands at the speed of light, this is why.

246 Name: Sosorry : 2016-11-17 06:34 ID:bbgAObmX

>>245 My goodness! TH just made a very brief appearance on Kimmel dressed as the ape from King Kong! The bit was that Guiermo tricked him into coming in costume, and TH chased him off of the stage! Thank god it was quirky/charming, and there was no time to ask personal questions! I think if Tom avoids the red carpet questions at the Globes and just walks inside like he did at the Emmys, he can charge into the Kong promotion this spring, without the summer madness haunting his every turn.

http://www.eonline.com/videos/254342/did-tom-hiddleston-win-the-hiddleswift-split

Hysterical video from the E news staff saying that Hiddleston wins the split with TS, because his life has gone back to normal! The host said both the whole alleged relationship and the contant press coverage was ridiculous, and made TH look like a toy accessory, and not a grown man. So Hiddleston is winning by working hard and keeping his head down and staying off the PR grid. And by contrast, although TS is incredibly financially successful, TS is trapped on defense, and her image as a vanilla pop princess took a huge nose dive because it looked like she switched up bfs so quickly, in a dishonest and obnoxious way, since people thought that all of the pictures of her were annoying. Wow. The bloom is off the rose. The press aren't scared of TS any more, and they're starting to re-embrace Tom again.

>>248 Well that's one way of avoiding questions about his ex... RUN!
Your version was hysterical, I much prefer it.
>>249 It's not entirely shit, in fact I will go so far as to say it's cinematically spectacular in a rich 70s kodachrome way that may just be enough to distract me from what looks to be a clumsy plot amidst flat jokes and explosions. Not to mention TH covered in sweat and dirt wearing what looks to be his current everyday wardrobe minus the jacket.

251 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-11-17 11:04 ID:Heaven

>>250 Right! The things he'd do at the moment to avoid an interview.

My "because" got lost somewhere between my brain and the keyboard. I agree with you, the special effect and photography looks great, but a trailer where the character that stands out is a secondary one (John C. Reilly's) compared to the two leads doesn't look good in terms of acting and plot. I'll wait to see what the critics say before paying a cinema ticket, March has a lot of much more interesting releases.

Their summary is, while showing him arriving at LAX yesterday in front of going to Kimmel, is that his life is back to its boring normal after the image damaging relationship - he's out in public and hardly anyone knew who he was, less than a half dozen camera around him. Meanwhile TS has been on the defensive for months and didn't escape the taint of the Kanye issue, the questions about how soon she got with TH after Calvin, etc etc etc.

Very nice compliment in the DM from Thor's Lady Sif played by Jamie Alexander. Tom, 'is really lovely and such a gentleman. He's a serious actor with immense talent.'

It's nice to know that TH's peers respect his countenance and his work. And no meention of summer madness: ) Refreshing.

  1. Tom just followed the lovely UK actress Vanessa Kirby, who is amazing as Princess Magaret on Netflix's The Crown, on twitter. Some are predicting a romance. But Vanessa also has Luke as a publicisit, and Tom presented Vanessa with a theatre award for Streetcar Named Desire in 2015, so we'll see. I think Tom knows enough not to follow a potential love interest on social media, but she's very talented and pretty. BTW, Vanessa dated actor Douglas Booth, who stopped dating Taylor Swift when he realized that Taylor had been calling the paps about their dates! Wild.
  2. Best of luck to Team Tom regarding the Frank Miller project. I'm scared because the only film adaptation of those graphic novels that became cohesive films were Sin City and 300. I'm worried that this will be another beautilly rendered and challenging character part for Tom, but held back by a truly uneven script. DiCaprio is not my favorite actor; his performances are kind of middlebrough and not that interesting to me. But Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, Revolutionary Road, The Aviator, The Revanant, etc. had strong scripts and methodical direction from beginning to middle to end. Tom needs a well executed with a leading role (like the Imitation Game for Cumberrbatch or Theory of Everything for Redmayne), or he just stick to his continue being a strong character actor and hope for a Colin Firth King's Speech moment, later on.

>>264 hahaha fingers crossed that TS won't get a bf until after Skull Island promo so I can read this stuff for a little longer. (why would they be so fixated they are still together anyway? Shouldn't they be happy she dumped a guy that was made fun of all over the world?)

>>265 After what he pulled this summer, who can say what he'd do or not with his not-so-private love life?

TH can't do tough, he couldn't pull off the tough guy in something as soft as TNM, a character as violent as the one in this graphic novel might be beyond him (even his Coriolanus was teary-eyed!), plus the comics itself isn't visually appealing- Also, outside the Marvel universe, graphic novels don't have much success.

If confirmed it's very risky. Mind you, like William Goldman says “Nobody knows anything...... Not one person in the entire motion picture field knows for a certainty what's going to work. Every time out it's a guess and, if you're lucky, an educated one.”

The VK follow is interesting for a few reasons. Why, if she's in the same stable as TH, didn't he follow her before? Is she new to Twitter? It shouldn't be forgotten that Tayto started, for the most part, with TH following TS.

Also if she 'dated' DB, then this girl could be up for a fauxmance because DB is, by most accounts, gay and gayer.

Does VK have a private jet or access to a beach and some rocks? ;)

That's true and it'd be hilarious if it happened.

To be fair, TH also tends to follow: people he met (and complimented him), people whose works he watched, people he might want to work with. Or people who are particulalry trendy at the moment, I remember him following Jared Leto and Lupita the night of the Oscars.

Welcome back to the board, Anon.!
I don't think he's done with showmances. But I am not sure this lady is the one. It would be a bit of a climb-down fame wise from TS and what's the point of shopping for a fake GF unless you buy the best one?

>>269 >>271 Oh, if Douglas Booth is gay, are you saying that Tom pursues faux romances because he is gay? I am confused. Also, I think that a lower profile fake gf would be a good idea, if Tom is trying to hide. No one was stalking Susannah Fielding for pics when she was a jobbing thespian in the West End. And people only took/take pictures of Jane Arthy when she is with Tom, specifically. I'm not sure if Tom could pull off a fake relationship for any reason, for a long while. There is far too much universal suspicion and scrutiny of his behavior after Tayto. I think if Tom wants privacy for that reason that he should stay single, or at most be seen allegedly flirting with certain women, at some point, like with Priyanka at the Emmys. The very youngest Taylor fans only believe her faux relationships because they are addicted to her breakup songs, fashion sense, and her instagram persona. The general public is not so gullible. IMO, Tom just needs to work his bum off and stay off the PR radar.

>>270 I'm not very funny anymore either. The fandom got dark, very dark over the summer. Hard to be light and slightly mocking these days, easier to be derisive. I'm okay with derisive, he's earned it.

>>271 There are moments when I think he will never showmance again and then I remember his track record. I saw the S. Korea cringe tour after the fact but remember thinking to myself, How embarrassing; he'll never sing and dance like that again. Then I saw the Chatty Man dance and all the ISTL sing-a-longs. He is not one for learning a lesson the first time...or the 50th.

Maybe she'd be perfect since it would actually be, you know, believable. But he and his people may have their sights set on loftier heights. Once you've fake dated a tall, blonde, famous stick the only way to go is taller, blonder, more famous and stickier.

No links as responding generally to everyone!

I feel the bloom has gone off the rose for me and seemingly for the fandom generally. As I see it there are 2 interpretations of the summer:

1) Genuine romance. Whether TS is dim, or surgically altered, or anything else, wasn't the issue - it's for him to decide who he wants to go out with. But he shamelessly pimped out his relationship in a way that seemed deliberately designed to garner publicity. That's unattractive from any celeb. It's particularly unattractive from a celeb who has spent a lot of time telling us how much he values his privacy. Some stans say, well he doesn't owe us consistency. True. He can do one thing and say another if he wants. But it appears to have gone down badly with a lot of people.

2) Fake romance. Deeply unattractive to any normal person, as it smacks both of dishonesty and weirdness. I am sure that some, though far from all, celeb relationships are faked. Even so, this felt particularly brazen in the way it appeared suddenly and was shoved down our throats for 3 months. E.g., Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have confessed that their relationship was arranged, at least at the start. But they never did anything approaching the Love Tour. If it was fake I don't think it was because he is gay (though maybe she is). I think it was for profile raising. In a way I would have more sympathy if it was because he was gay, as that still does pigeonhole many actors and make it harder for them to get good roles. But doing it for Bond....no.

Either way, he really hasn't covered himself in glory this summer and a lot people feel that. There is also 3) The projects haven't been that good. I am beginning to wonder if he is not that great an actor, or at least not unless he is very carefully corralled by an experienced director.

275 Name: Anonon : 2016-11-24 11:51 ID:eW7Ci6Ef

>>274 An excellent hypothesis. None of these points are mutually exclusive. It is a given fact that the majority of his glory projects flopped. He's a man driven to success- that would have stung and caused him to consider alternative fast-track methods which he would have otherwise shunned. Herald in the Swift Experience.
I still think it's most likely a combination of all points. It sure as shit wasn't true love since the exit was so "swift" and the method so uncharacteristically flagrant. As you point out, none of the options are appealing. He's either a famewhore or a faker or desperate.
I'm left wondering just how hard it is to be in a loving normal relationship when you're famous. Others seem to manage just fine, and perhaps that is the key- they are not as overtly MANAGED.
I have always felt TH is a little too handled by his minders.
FFS TH, just hook up with a hot chick you really like and be normal. It's not that hard and it's appealing to see someone have genuine feels for someone. Once a month maybe parade that shit if you have to. Be exclusive. How about trying to be an enigma again. That worked.
As for his acting, I am similarly fenced but consider ISTL was most likely his best role in terms of character immersion, the shit director should take no credit. Future roles are the test for me, as to whether he has finally shaken his stage presence on film.

>>275 I think on one level it is easy to have a relationship while famous. Date someone who is not in the business, keep them largely out of the public eye (no Hello spreads) but don't be all weird about it - if you have a big RC event where it would be normal to appear with your spouse, take them along. And stay as far away from the Hollywood machine as possible. Even quite big stars manage this: most of the Brits, and people like Jessic Chastain who is open that she has a BF and is normal about it (e.g. she posts the occasional IG pic of him when you might expect someone to post a pic of their SO).

Where it gets hard, I totally agree, is where you have a big Hollywood entourage of lickspittles and hangers on. There are three reasons: first, they kiss up so much that you lose all perspective of what is normal and who you are. Second, you are paying them a lot and so they want to "add value" so you can see they are doing things. This leads them to interfere in areas such as your personal life when they ought to let well alone. Third, the advisors have been deep within the Hollywood machine for years, and so their bright ideas are 90% shit/bonkers.

Impossible to go back the way it was, like anonsy rightly said once, what was endearing about TH as a person was the fact that he came off as genuine and honest. This summer simply left an uneasy feeling of having been manipulated all along. Inevitably, it changed present and past perception of him.

I agree that, genuine or fake, it's difficult to find a positive spin. Falling hard for someone like Taylor Swift, publicly professing his love and happiness at being together and then breaking up 4 weeks after saying so, doesn't speak of great intelligence and maturity. Doing the same because his manipulation didn't work well and he feared for his career, doesn't speak of great character and personality.

And while it's true that he doesn't owe us consistency, it's also true that nobody owes him unconditional admiration, approval and following.

I disagree that TayTo happened because his career was having troubles. I think it happened for the opposite reason.
Yes, his last films didn't do well at the box-office, but he did well on a personal level and as an actor that's all he is responsible for. Let's face it, in May the man was on a roll, he had just finished a promo tour for several stuff, he was invited at the the White House Correspondents dinner, to the pre Met Gala dinner, to the Met Gala, the general perception wasn't negative, but one of someone about to make a huge step forward. Such a boost of confidence probably made him think that TS showing interest in him was a natural consequence of his present successful state and a useful opportunity.

So if TH was considering appearing in it, he isn't now.

It is slightly hard to work out exactly why it has been dumped - I can't see that a documentary about Gay Talese writing the book would necessarily trample on the same territory as a film version of the book itself. My guess is that the as yet unreleased documentary reveals that Talese is actually a colossal charlatan and that this is almost entirely fiction masquerading as journalism. I hope they get back some of the $1m they paid for the rights.

When a first saw this tweet back in September, I remembered that Tom started following several Apple accounts on Twitter after the success of the Met Gala dance-off. Maybe Apple was preparing a commercial with Tom as part of the campaign they already have with Taylor. That's probably how Hiddleswift started. After the breakup that went for Drake instead. I've read somewhere that Taylor Swift has a social media center where people are paid to run fake accounts on social media that post positive things about her and attack those who say negative things about her.

According to this site, only 10% of her followers on twitter are real accounts:

Kooky question/Thoughts Wondering/Pics below: I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I've just been questioning a lot of things, recently from some Met Ball pics and Letters Live pics yesterday. At the Met Ball, everyone wondered why Tom didn't dance or hang out more with his costar in TNM, Elizabeth Debicki, after they posed so warmly on the red carpet, or with Vanessa Kirby, since she is a client of Luke, as well. But I recently found photos of Vanessa Kirby (the lovely actress who Tom just followed on twitter), leaving for the Met ball with ED from the Bowery Hotel, together. And inside, singer Florence Welch and ED danced up an intimate storm together while VK looked on with an interesting gaze. And just two nights ago, ED performed at Letters Live, and her seating partner was again, Florence Welch.

Now I'm kind of thinking since Vanessa Kirby's ex Douglas Boothe (from Romeo and Juliet) is most likely gay, and FW is pretty fluid in her sexuality, that ED and VK may lean that way as well, but they don't want to be typecast in terms of their roles, so they flirt with Tom on the red carpet, become instagram friends for romantic PR press, Tom has the fauxmance with TS maybe to hide TS, or himself, etc. The pics are interesting. Any thoughts?

Who knows what their personal preferences are but hey as long as they don't put on the over the top bile inducing display Tom put on this summer with their SOs, it's all good. >>298 I feel just the same way! I still don't know how a seemingly cerebral Cambridge graduate got played by a teeny bopper pop star into running the most PR hungry fake display of intimacy I've ever seen in the history of tinsel town. TS is like teflon woman, because her super fans just want breakup songs, cute new alleged bfs, great outfits, and more breakup songs. Tom is a talented actor, and he doesn't owe anyone anything besides his work product. But his seemingly authentic countenance was very attractive. And that's the thing he's lost, now. Now some question the timing of his UNICEF work to rehabilitating his image, for godssake, even though he's been writing and planning the documentary for years. He needs to stay off the radar, open the monkey movie, and swoop an Olivier award or an Emmy award for a Shakespearean adaptation, like Much Ado About Nothing. And maybe an an obtuse or avant garde production from a new playwright, as well. Anything that makes him seem mature, again. And he should focus on nailing character parts in well executed films, like Midnight in Paris, while hunting for his The Theory of Everything, Redmayne Oscar script.
