I have become increasingly concerned as of late. It seems that every time I open DQN there's podcast-brain political drones trying to drag even this corpse of a site onto the blaze. I may compare with csfml or sdl or irrlicht before committing anyway, because I'm going to assume I've got to write FFI bindings and I don't want something with a massive API.

Amateur code porter here with quite a few (shitty, amateur, low-effort) ports going back many yonks: I still never know what will break when (e.g.) recompiling a bog-standard cross-platform-library-using program. Hate to say it, but you're best off leaping instead of looking and sometimes risks will not pay off, or not easily. Them's the breaks.

Unsurprisingly, the best written and/or most self-contained code tends to present the fewest problems in this respect. Something like an indie-scale game or even a dynamically recompiling emulator (well, for the same target architecture) tends to be more portable than one might suspect; that part is mostly "code is code" and I'm surprised by how well that tends to work out despite that the internal logic itself may be a buggy piece of shit--it's the same buggy piece of shit, but programmers aren't usually out to write endian-sensitive code for example.

So, something about the interfacing with the hardware (even indirectly) causes the lion's share of fuckiness and undefined behavior when you're porting things naively. That kind of shit is why games typically haven't dealt well with hibernation modes. Heck, black-box fuckery is why Stallman's been on a multi-decade autistic crusade in the first place.

Naturally, I have not touched on GUI code; that tends to be a high-effort / just deal with wrong-looking stuff issue no matter what you do.

The 9front and Cat-v people were right all along, static simple clean code is better and easier than including every library and compiling dynamically.

The 9front and Cat-v people tricked everyone into thinking that Unix was stable. Or consistent. Or standardized. Suffice it to say, the ethos of said people isn't very strong. If those people had their way, there'd be no such thing as d-trace or ZFS. Ironically, the greatest achievements of Unix are the very amendments to the Unix model that traditionalists resent most deeply.

An MMORPG focused on competitive questing - there are only so many bear asses to go around, so you have to fight over them. But then doing a few quests gets you access to a dungeon, which you run in groups with anyone else who's unlocked it. Most dungeons are segmented, so you do more quests to get deeper. There's also a property system with co-ownership, renting, and squatter's rights.

I'm a little mad that nanahira gets so much attention when there are better (imo) denpa artists out there, but perhaps I just have terrible taste. Also, RIP Hello★Channel, I'll never forget the denpa and cute drug threads.<3

Nanahira is just really prolific, there's definitely better denpa artists but all of them release like 2-3 albums and then are never heard from again while she's usually in something every comiket and usually even every m3. I like her stuff but it gets repetitive after a while.

I like toromi lyrically, it's usually either saccharine to the point of absurdity or couched with double entendres which is classic denpa, but a lot of her songs are just low energy. They need higher BPM or something. For example I like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPXhcrlcQa8 a lot better than the original and all he really did was speed it up. All in all though, the patrician's choice for people who realize denpa isn't just "moe EDM".

ave;new is truly shit tier, luckily they don't seem so active lately.

MMBK is another one that's quite prolific and has a lot of meh releases as well as a lot of good stuff. I like her chiimu work better but Aihara Kaori seems to have vanished off the face of the planet so there hasn't been much of it lately. Koko needs to release more, I really like her voice and style.

Mosaic.wav is great, the soundtrack to gakkou gurashi was really good and fit the atmosphere of the show perfectly. Not much I don't like from them.

I'd add to your list odenpa stajio in the bottom tier, they have some catchy songs but lyrically they pander hard as fuck to the horny lolicon audience and everything is about slippery flat chests or dick jokes.
