i feel like serious visual novels would be a perfect fit for those sorts who've been trying to push walking sims on us, except the clear problem in the first place is they can't read
I can't read, Liz Lemon!
And so with gods and men
The sheep remain inside their pen
Until the shepherd leads his flock away
literally listening to kotoko while drinking a monster zero and playing vanilla WoW right now, i didnt even realize what i was doing until it was too late help
that doesn't sound bad

Go to the bakery section of co-op or sainsbury's and get yourself a motherfucking cookie. Right now.
something about madoka reminds me of manufactured pop idol culture
i kinda want that showbiz life
bu i kinda want that life to not be so gatdam horrible
You still get cookies in Britain, we just don't call all biscuits cookies. A cookie is a biscuit, but a digestive or a custard cream isn't a cookie
Biscuits go soft when stale. Cookies and cakes do not.

i like cookies and biscuits, they both have their place

Digestive doesn't sound appetizing at all and I don't understand why it would be a name for a snack.

That also sounds pretty awful.
>>327 I'd do the showbiz life but only once. Do one tour, or one movie, or whatever, get like $10m for it, put $1m in a savings account and the rest in stocks or bitcoin or whatever and just coast.

they have baking soda in them and were basically the world's first, largest and shittiest tums
>>329 Those Maryland cookies go soft when you leave them out...
And, kerning is a graphic designer's best friend, unless you're referring to bad kerning in the hands of someone with no experience - that will make a graphic designer wince.

>>335
That's because they're biscuits.
And you'd better check your browser's font rendering. My captcha wasn't "kerning".
>>338 Yeah, cookies are biscuits! My bad, I thought you were making a joke that it was so tightly kerned it looked like keming - then I googled it and that's what keming means!
>>339
No no no, Maryland cookies are biscuits, not cookies. I understand the confusion though.

I had a teacher in high-school who had a self-made sign (he made a lot of those) in the back of his classroom stating "our sins catch up to us eventually".
Pretty sure the guy was a staunch atheist, so I don't really know what that was all about.
Cortana can help me avoid traffic. Do you think one of those inverter things can run my desktop PC in the car? Also, I'll have to use my phone as a wireless hotspot. Finally, it'll be good for something!
Why the fuck is the eBook version more expensive than the hardcover?
What a beautiful Duwang!
>>344 Do you have to be religious to do wrong? Do morals need to be based on faith? Does a deity have any influence on the inevitable reaping of the seeds we sow ?
>>348
The word "sin" has religious connotations more often than not, and is thus an odd choice for an atheist.
>>349 Well it always has religious connotations, but it seems like a common phrase... do you think everyone who exclaims "Oh my God!" actually has a god?
why is no-one honest? Do they really think white lies help?
>>350
it (or possibly with the word "with", i don't remember) isn't a common phrase, even if the sentiment is. If you cook up an aphorism yourself it should be kinda like that, yeah?
Anyway, he'd already been teaching 25+ years before I got there. Great sense of dark humor.
If you like aphorisms, I humbly recommend Georg Christoph Lichtenberg.
cute girl who is euphoric, not because of any phony god's blessing, but because she is enlightened by her intelligence
i only have two moods, horny and sad
I hate to be the guy that brings out the dictionary definition, but I feel that it's actually pretty relevant considering it's about usage of a word, so here goes:
sin noun (1)
\ˈsin\
1
a : an offense against religious or moral law
b : an action that is or is felt to be highly reprehensible it's a sin to waste food
c : an often serious shortcoming : fault
So there you go, there's evidence for usage outside of a religion.
I think it's worth adding that christianity and christian eschatology has a deep influence on what we deem is "western culture", including secular lifestyle, so you not only have secular people using the word "sin" outside of a strictly religious context, you also have atheists celebrating Christmas, of all things, because who doesn't like getting presents?
holy night's Dong
hotel rwanda fanfiction
There's a distinction between "is 'sin' an exclusively religious word" and "will people think you're being religious when you say 'sin'", to which I reply "obviously not" and "probably", respectively. Looks like this (very boring) discussion started out as the latter and has since morphed into the former.
>>361 exactly. slightly out of place, rather than incompatible. you gotta understand, it was an oddly serious statement from an eccentric guy who made wry offhand jokes about booby trapping his lawn to keep kids away.
he was often the one catching cheaters, who would be kicked back to normie school; i can imagine nobody likes having to do that.
i don't mind the loud music a bit but damn dude at least get some taste, if i had a stereo system with bass that could shake the walls of the apartment upstairs you can bet i wouldnt be playing fucking ac/dc
>>362 on the contrary it's usually people like that who have the strongest sense of duty and justice of anyone. it doesn't matter how you come to your morals as long as you come to them, but i respect an atheist who acts righteously just because it's the right thing to do infinitely more than a religious person who only does it because he fears punishment in the afterlife.
>>363
i used to play melt-banana really loud, needless to say, my neighbors did NOT like that one bit.
is now a good time to stan aural vampire?
>>364 hm, perhaps. he did hand this out too: ttps://imgur.com/a/KhTi1TT
and of course the goofing off was surely a way to connect with teenagers when you're also infamous for pop quizzes and pop making things due
erm, though I do want to point out it is odd how people focused on the connotations of the word "sin" instead of the implication that there is some mechanism of fate that makes some sorta retribution happen... didn't want to shut down that sort of discussion, though.
after all, that's not how they taught us to play with others at shortbus school ヽ( ゚ヮ・)ノ
>>368
The problem with that sort of advice is that the students who need it most won't bother to read it. Although I'm probably being too cynical, it will probably help at least a few kids and that's better than nothing.
When I was a student I loved the teachers that were cynical, smart, and eccentric. I probably would have liked the teacher you are describing. But now I think back on those teachers and find them shallow and a bit cringe-worthy. The sign "our sins catch up to us eventually" would have probably seemed profound and edgy to my teenager self, but it seems kind of bland and lame now.
As for the truth of the statement, it seems pretty reasonable regardless of your religious beliefs. Even if there is no such thing as karma, you're likely to get caught eventually if you have a habit of doing bad things. And even if you never get caught, you will probably end up punishing yourself in one way or another.
