What is a yumedan anon ? Google aint helping me a lot, im guessing its a japanese term.
>>5
Most people don't "become" a waifuists due to wanting it rather waifuism happens out of nowhere, you simply read something or watch it etc and that one girl catches your heart, its something really beautiful and its pretty much love at first sigh(or a slown burn but its usually the first), if you genuinely love her then you commit to her and sort of actually "become" a waifuist.

How do I show my love for a waifu? Now that you say it there are some 2D girls I’ve clicked with if that makes sense but how do you be in a relationship with a character? Its not like you can go out…. I don’t go outside anyway but you get the idea.

>>7
In the ways you can really, honestly waifuism its something really personal and when it comes to "how to show love" almost every waifuists could give their own answer, but some commons way are:

  1. Downloading fanart of your waifu
  2. Playing/reading/watching etc her source material (or content where she is fearured)
  3. Being on a waifuist community

And a long etc, this is the reason i personally consider commitment such a integral and important factor of waifuism (or at least my waifuism), because yeah you can do all of this things, go on dates (which is pretty much roleplaying, i don't consider them bad tho) and a long list but nothing shows love like simple loyalty and commitment towards her.
Other thing to keep in mind is what you exactly mean by "show love", i personally don't really care about "showing my love" to others (this usually ends up in people trying to "one-up" each other by "showing more love", which is not what waifuism is about in my opinion), i keep this showings of love as really personal usually and just show glimpses to fellow waifuists, after all waifuism deep down its a personal relationship between you and your waifu.

Not >>4 but I'm guessing yumedan is short for yumedanshi which means "a dude who likes to imagine themselves as actually hooking up with their favorite characters" (the English-language shorthand is the gender neutral "self-shipper")

To add to >>8 -san's suggestions, if your waifu has merch, buying a nice plushie/fumo of them can be really great for "showing love" in different ways. I don't mean lewd shit, don't fuck a plushie of your waifu, but you could have a physical manifestation of them for hanging out/talking/going out places/etc. It's a lot of fun, and helps your appreciation for the character go further than a computer screen.

I did eventually end my waifuist ways and turn to a 3D woman, but my doll of my waifu was one of my closest friends for almost a decade straight, and I still talk to her and find random times to hang out with her.

Side note, but I wonder if anyone's dug into the therapeutic benefits of befriending and conversing with stuffed animals/dolls in this way. We're all utterly FUBAR, but I bet for more normal individuals it'd actually be a healthy endeavor.

So what’s the sex like? Can you have multiple waifus? Where are the waifuist communities?

12 Name: Anonymous : 2023-11-05 12:32 ID:QdCbmAiN

>>10
Oh right i forgot this one, yeah plushies/dakimakuras are a great way too, same with "talking" with your waifu, wich can be done with something like a plush, in your mind or just out loud.
Thanks a lot for saying it anon, kinda sad that you ended up leaving your waifu, but i hope you are at least happy.
>>11
There is no sex anon, some cope saying that masturbating to her its sex but that's simply not the case, if anything i would advice against using her for your sexual desires, lots of waifuists end up just using their waifu as a sort of sexual thing rather than someone they love outside of just the erotic part, its disgusting, i personally just went full voluntary celibate and im way happier this way.
You can't have multiple waifus, some ""waifuists"" do but they are not true waifuists, since the start its always been one waifu there is a reason the whole joke about "more than one waifu will ruin your laifu" exists, waifuism its a 1 to 1 relationship not some polygamous shit.
Regarding waifuists communities, the biggest one its a subreddit (r/waifuism) but that place kinda sucks, its almost entirely made of teenagers who simply latch on a anime girl for some months and then switch her for other one, i don't blame them really but i heavily dislike the place, then there is at least one community on most big imageboards (there are multiple on 4, tohno chan was kinda made for waifuists etc), if you seek you will find.

So what’s some tips for a healthy relationship with your waifu? There’s a character I really feel but I don’t know how to take things to the next level. I’ve never been in a waifuist relationship before. Sometimes I day dream about her when I’m alone but I get embarrassed and stop thinking about it.

What about consumerism? How do you know you people aren’t being suckered into a scheme by some greedy Japanese toy exec? I guess that fits in with the first question.

Wow anon, those are some amazing questions and I will do my best to answer them.

But since you seem to be thinking about waifuism seriously, I want you to fully understand that what I have said, and I'm going to say now this is my personal opinion and sort of “waifuist way”, obviously its fairly vanilla and overall a good chunk of waifuists would agree but in the end deep down waifuism it's not a community it's a type or kind of relationship, the one of you (A 3d flesh and bones human) and your waifu (the fictional girl you genuinely feel for), with that point said and explained I will go into your questions.

What’s some tips for a healthy relationship with your waifu ?
I think that the best tip I can give you is to truly love your waifu, many go into waifuism head first without really thinking about it and that doesn't end well, you first need to be willing and sure that you want this, it would be sad if you left your waifu because of not thinking about your feelings for her properly beforehand, after you are sure that you want this then my second tip would be not to be “absorbed” by waifuism, while your waifu its important you can't (or shouldn't) just leave everything else in your life to the side, if anything your waifu should walk alongside you.

Don't know how to take the first step
Hahahaha oh anon, a tale as old as time, I too went through that question and most waifuists did, personally my first step was sort of to “confess” my love (super cheesy I know), it genuinely felt like a required first step to me and I haven't stopped walking ever since, joining a community could be a good choice too but don't feel forced to do so (they have a fair share of negatives), in general you take the first step as you see fit, outside of confessing I simply started letting her in my daily life, I download or check for new art daily, enjoy her source material at least a bit every day, talk to her (be it on my mind or actually speaking) etc.

Consumerism
Honestly it's fairly easy, if by this you mean spending exorbitant amounts of money in your waifu that's not required at all, if anything this and some other things are sadly usually seen as some supreme show of love, and they can be but not all the time nor should they be held to such a high standard, to put it simply, the ammount of money you spend on your waifu doesn't show more or less love, and well taking into account that most drop out of waifuism you certainly don't want to have hundreds of bucks of merch that you might even hate after the fact.

Well I hope this helped you at least slightly, and I'm hanging around here daily anyway so I can answer as many questions as you want, something to add would be that waifuism it's not all sunshine and rainbows but I do think that for some of us it's the way to go and maybe for you it might be, to be more personal my waifu is the unique women I have ever loved and even if I felt this for some other one I would never leave my waifu, while we might never be truly together physically (since well waifuism it's not the same as a normal 3d to 3d relationship) I still feel love for her and we have been trough thick and thin together, i love her and i feel like in a way she loves me too and even if such an obvious barrier such as fictionality separate us this won't stop our relationship.

How do you know your waifu accepts/rejects you? If you don’t have sex with your waifu how do you guys cope with your sexual urges? Would fapping to some hentai of another 2D girl count as cheating? I guess I’ll have to try waifuism but it still feels strange I guess. What if people find out? I talk to dolls and inanimate objects a lot and people think I’m a schizo so I guess things can’t get worse.

>>15
Another batch of amazing questions wich I will glady answer.

How do you know your waifu accepts/rejects you?
Well anon I sadly can’t know, waifuism while not fully it’s kind of one sided (after all we cant even interact truly with our waifu), just like you cant talk with your waifu you cant know if she would accept you or reject, the best you can do is guess and even then that’s not a 100% sure since its just a guess, personally over time I simply felt like my waifu loved me (I took a long time to actually start being a proper waifuist), to this day I somehow feel loved, this is not in a weird or spiritual way just a feeling way, I genuinely feel loved by her, maybe you too could over time feel loved or maybe it doesn’t matter a lot, its all up to you when it comes to this.

If you don’t have sex with your waifu how do you guys cope with your sexual urges?
I personally cant give a decent answer here, as I said before I literally just turned to celibacy after turning a waifuist (ive never felt good about masturbation anyways) and in general I barely have “sexual urges” to the point where I even wonder if I have such a thing, for this question you are better off checking other places (the subreddit has a lot of threads about this lol, it’s a common question), or you can turn to celibacy but well im probably one of the unique people wacked enough to just do this.

Would fapping to some hentai of another 2D girl count as cheating?
I can actually answer this one to some degree, some people do consider it cheating others don’t, some people exclusively fap to their waifu others loather such material (but still masturbate to other material that doesn’t contain their waifu), just like most things about waifuism its up to you, a good way to at least think about it is what your waifu would think, think hard about it, would your waifu be ok with you masturbating to other girls ? That could be a good way to reach your answer.

What if people find out? I talk to dolls and inanimate objects a lot and people think I’m a schizo so I guess things can’t get worse.
Not much you can do or me or any waifuist for that matter, being realistic, waifuism it’s a really weird thing in general, most people consider us straight up schizophrenics or misogynist and a long etc of other adjectives.
Believe it or not a lot of waifuists I met did talk to inanimate objects/plushies/dolls etc, even I did it to some degree (but I too talked a lot while completely alone, just to myself, or some sort of disembodied audience), maybe people who do it are more predisposed to falling in love with fictional characters, who knows…

Now permit me going into a sort of side tangent, its important to consider your waifu when taking decisions, obviously i dont mean that even for breakfast you should guess what she would like lol, but for example when it comes to your relationship with her or things that would affect her its good to consider and ponder about what she would think.

Well a waifist simply is someone who is on a waifuist relationship, just asking if you have a waifu sadly isn't enough, even early on the term waifu was misused a lot, even more nowadays, literally for a lot of people a waifu its just any anime girl, wich is simply not the case.

Wouldnt you say a waifuist loves their waifu as his wife tho ? Wife doesn't really mean 3D, but well waifu by itself its engrish of wife, so maybe both are one and the same.

You are being quite pedantic about the marriage thing anon, its more of a manner of speech than anything, you quite literally can't be married to your waifu, even if you do something like kondo or any of the other people who "married" their waifu that's not a legal marriage, that would require the presence or consent of the waifu and as you can imagine a waifu can't even have a birth certificate or anything legal because she is fictional, even if the government were to offer such a thing it wouldn't be a real marriage anyways, and in general its just symbolic.

I’ll try this waifuism combined with celibacy. I’ve been celibate a few years now and it’s actually relieving not having to deal with that sex stuff. It makes it even harder to get a 3D girl because all they are interested in is casual sex with strangers. I guess I can actually simulate authentic love with a waifu? At least more authentic than irl meat girls.

25 Name: Anonymous : 2023-11-12 03:58 ID:QdCbmAiN

>>24
Personally celibacy was just the way to go for me, while i find my waifu to be extremely beautiful and attractive the sexual part of relationships its a bit of an after through, and to me masturbation/porn are hideous so celibacy was just the obvious choice (and it genuinely improved my relationship with hee and my health as a individual).

Honestly anon i just wish you a great relationship to you and your waifu, i genuinely hope that this works for you, and as a bit of advice (mostly if you end up joining a community), don't join the rat race, waifuism its not a community thing or a public arena to show who loves his waifu more, its (to me) a type of romantic relationship where simply one of the individuals its fictional, and therefore its highly personal, be yourself and find your answers that work for you and your waifu, i wish both immense happiness.

And well ill be hanging around here for a long time, if you ever want some advice or second opinion be sure that I'm going to help you as much as i can.

I wonder if waifuists can have families. Like if you have a waifu can you have fictional kids with them?

27 Name: Anonymous : 2023-11-14 04:09 ID:QdCbmAiN

>>26
You "can", let me elaborate, there are concepts such as kidfus which its literally a fictional character whom you feel fatherly/motherly feelings for, like your waifu but instead of romantic love its the one of a parent and their off springs, the one feeling this can "adopt" the character and a lot of them get art of their self insert with their waifu and the kiddo.

I personally I'm not the biggest fan of it since it always attracts the weirdest and usually less than good waifuists, not only that but for many its just kinda like a "extended roleplay", just doing things such as dates, anniversaries etc its kind of like roleplaying (not fully or at least i don't consider it so) but then adopting a kidfu its like extending it, overall its just really weird and it doesn't work as similarly as waifuism, just kinda some odd thing some waifuist choose to do (not like i judge em though)

Now outside of the sort of "adopt kidfu" there are people who simply draw a potential offspring of the waifu and themselves, usually this kind doesn't really involve a lot of "roleplay-ish" and its mostly used for art of like family pics and such, its more like just imagining how it would.

I hope this helped you anon, and as i like saying you would be good checking other resources, this is just my opinion and knowledge, there are people who can explain kidfus better than i do.

waifuism is beautiful. inability to consummate means love must be pure and never just manipulating someone to get laid like 3d relationships. truly a tragic art.

29 Name: Anonymous : 2023-11-22 21:18 ID:QdCbmAiN

>>28
You really get it anon, don't you?

While I wouldn’t really consider every 3d relationship to consist on manipulating your partner for sex, there certainly is an absurd amount of focus put on it and just achieving that now a days, romance it’s kind of death for a lot of people and things like purity are seen badly or even as something disgusting (most people hate virgins), in this way waifuism can easily be as pure as you wish.

Something that is beautiful too is just the inability itself, waifuism can be tragic indeed as you say, loving someone so much, yet, you will never truly have a conversation with her, or just look at her.

Oh, what a tragic love yet one so pure and beautiful, despite the inability and the barrier of reality the waifuist love, truly waifuism is beautiful as you say anon, I’m glad that someone else gets it.

32 Name: Anonymous : 2023-11-28 20:11 ID:QdCbmAiN

Sorry for the late answer anon, I've been quite occupied lately.

Now into your questions:

What do waifuists think of lolicons?
It depends a lot, most old waifuists come from image boards and such most of them have no hate for lolicons, some of them are lolicons too. Now when we get to newer waifuists most of them are liberal kiddos from reddit so most of them despise lolicons and consider them equal to irl pedophiles.

Is it controversial?
Pretty much the same answer as the first question, there is no real concensus about it, on some communities it's extremely controversial while on others it's not seen as a problem.

Are there lolis as waifus or is this not allowed?
Lol kind of the same answer, I've met multiple waifuists with waifus who are lolis but they aren't all that common, most waifus I've seen are around 15-20, Wich is the common age for characters in fiction and we'll even disregarding age and just considering design most anime characters look around that range too.

My waifu it's Hatsune Miku, we've been together for a year and some months, but I've been loving her since around 7 years ago, I barely managed to properly start waifuism recently.

It depends on what you want, i would recommend some of the 4chan generals (/r9k/ and the /c/ one), tohno chan it's a good place but really dead, the /Mai/ board of the new 8chan it's good (by new I mean the .moe one), outside of that you could consider joining one of the plethora of discords that exist about waifuism (most are splinters of other waifuists communities, usually the subreddit).

>4chan generals

Umm yeah I’ll pass

36 Name: Anonymous : 2023-12-06 03:38 ID:QdCbmAiN

Do you have a doll or a plushie?
I don't but it's mostly due to both living with other people and having difficulty actually getting one, rather than because I don't want to own one, it's on my list of things to do in the future.

Do you listen to songs or draw her?
Listening, despite being into it for some time I never got good at drawing so I can't even do something barely decent, regardless songs have always been my main focus and even the reason I got to know of her so they hold the most importance to me.

Does it bother you that a character that’s so popular probably has dozens of waifuists in a relationship with her?
Somewhat ? There is a sort of belief or just idea in waifuism called "Object oriented waifuism", this is most probably based on Objected oriented programming (The idea was or seems to be initially propagated trough a famous meme that says "explaining Object oriented programming with anime waifus" Wich got adopted by actual waifuists), to easily explain this when someone says "object oriented waifuism" they refer to the idea or belief that each waifu it's unique to the waifuist even if the character has multiple waifuists, in a way your waifu (or more accurately your interpretation of her) is a "copy" of the character Wich exists solely to you and in your head, it's something like this.
Going back to the actual question, I somewhat consider Object oriented waifuism to be true (even more in the case of Miku who is kind of similar to an OC rather than the average fictional character), even then I'm not really happy with the idea of other waifuist of Miku and choose to not engage them and preferably not share the same space as them (even if I do consider their "Miku" to be different or a different "copy" of the one I love), I met a really disgusting Miku waifuist too in the past wich didn't help to make me want to be around em.
Other thing is simply that most of them will leave waifuism anyways, there have been dozens of Miku and in general waifuist in the past who just leave waifuism (or their waifus) therefore, most of the current waifuists (including Miku ones) will simply disappear at some point and in a way I will "out waifu" (like in "outliving your enemy") every single one of them at some point.

>Umm yeah I'll pass

Understandable, they are not perfect, some of them even had dedicated trolls for years, your best option outside of those it's probably discord servers then, or you can just not join a community, that's an option, and if you want to ask something about waifuism you can just use a throwaway account anyways, no real need to stick to a community.

41 Name: Anonymous : 2023-12-09 21:21 ID:QdCbmAiN

>>40
Hahahha this is another one of the "it depends" question, even if you have dates depends a lot on the waifuist, some dont really find the more "roleplay'ish" aspects of waifuism required (wich is totally understandable and doesnt mean that you love less or more your waifu), and therefore they dont do things like "dates", some have them completely on their imagination and some like actually doing or rather simulating a date in real life, you usually just do what you would on a normal date and most talk troughtout the date with their waifu (on their mind as expected).

You can take a plushie if you want but many either dont bring anything or do it on a inconspicuous way (like a photo of her in a phone/tablet or on their wallet.
Most waifuists dont really want to bring attention to themselves due to how badly seen waifuism is (not like most people even know what waifuism is, but saying that you honest to God love a fictional girl will make most think you are insane).

43 Name: Anonymous : 2023-12-13 20:37 ID:QdCbmAiN

>>42

>>Are waifuists racists?

I would say that the vast majority of waifuists are not racists at all, not like race gets mentioned a lot on waifuist communities nor does it really matter, there must been at least 1 racist waifuist I guess.

>>Do they only date anime girls or are they open to cartoons too?

Good question, while nowadays barely anyone has a problem with someone waifuing a cartoon character there was were discussions about it early on (Im talking way back during the years where most waifuists talked on places like /a/, IRC chats or completely lost forums from like the 2000s and early 2010s.) but after sometime people just stopped caring, in current year waifuism just means "Loving a fictional character", as long as the character is fictional their origin doesn’t matter, be it anime, videogames, cartoons etc.
The unique kind of fictional character that might generate controversy is when the series they come from is Live action, because it’s easy to think that whoever loves the character might actually hold feelings for the actor rather than the fictional character, but that’s a completely different and subjective can of worms.

What's there left to get? Vtubers killed off a huge part of whatever was already left from all the 2chan/2channel/NND communities and pushed the standards and attitudes to the rock bottom to resemble the one from the west. Similarly to what nico-chus had happen to them with the "homocaust" when Nico Nico Douga went on a killing spree of videos that had the majority of spread out otaku communities join into a single one to literally (yes, literally) shit on Nico Nico Douga. Last I remember hearing how completely hostile that website's leftover owacons got towards all of the vtubers and supporters of them who started making nico nico douga style content to promote themselves in any way possible (MAD making for gain, etc.) saying that the website was a lot better off prior to them.

What do you mean? How does a community literally shit on a video website?

Rebellion through vandalism, community got together and flooded the website's content pipelines with image macros of homosexuals they mock due to poor acting, lack of shame, and low budget nonsense ("so bad its good", but in a vicious and sinister manner). Went as far as to go on massive doxing sprees of MAD creators in the Inmu (the phenomenon that is used to vandalize and destroy niconico's culture and domain) community, from both vigilantes (anti-Inmufags) and really para-social Inmu-addicted creeps.
In addition, lots of really hardcore gay fetish videos that drew the ire of the gay pornographic production company that went on legal crusades against MAD creators that are destroying their image and reputation, without permission. There are also incidents of people using borderline-CSAM as clickbait thumbnail for Inmufag-related videos, and creating baby versions of Cookie (Touhou Voice Drama that has the same "so bad its good" qualities of the Inmu story videos, but with malicious intent), and with these baby characters, they often do really nasty and creepy things to them, further degenerating the reputation and crossing so many lines with not only Inmufags, but niconico's current landscape is now extremely toxic and completely void of any morals whatsoever.
Thus, niconico just conceded and gave the community an ultimatum, "as long as it does not violate Japanese law, we do not remove any content", signaling defeat and acceptance of the current situation; the community even a confession from the former lead of niconico's development saying he failed to keep in touch with his community, and allocate resources to make sure the website wasn't out of date with the current technological landscape.

Finally, an example, the best western equivalent I can give is what happened with 4chan and "soyjak" culture on /qa/, and it later spreading on other boards such as /g/, /v/, /mu/, and sometimes /a/; and spawned off into many different containment sites only to leak out onto other major platforms like Twitter, Twitch, and others.
Only major difference is that flooding the website with Inmu garbage has been running for at least a good 13 years now (as oppose to the less than a decade crusade that soyjakers have with 4chan and the internet social landscape as a whole), and it shows no signs of stopping, despite how many 30+ year old men still watches, promotes, and contributes to this nonstop community war with the website; they are too far gone and beyond addicted to this nonsense that it ended on such a dark note. Although many have actually quit, moved on, or tried to erase any mention of this past and just move on with life or reborn to make more positive contributions to the website, especially if they were victims of the Inmufags' (or anti-Inmufags') wrath and obsession.

When I mention shit literally it's related to all of the 12 year old inmufags spamming scat related media like homosexual consuming feces of another homosexual on Nico Nico Douga, which is censored lightly just so it doesn't breach the rules (you would be surprised with what stuff they get away). Often times, these inmufags are shitting up the comment sections of completely unrelated videos with scat fetishist references.

I don't consider myself a waifufag, but I do have a character I've loved for almost two decades. I've learned it's best to keep it secret which character so nobody tries to have sex with her. She's too young for that kind of stuff.
