Thread to talk about the actor Tom Hiddleston

2 Name: Anon : 2016-04-05 20:38 ID:NAvnUPQi

Oh bollocks. I knew this would happen sooner or later.

3 Name: anonsy : 2016-04-05 20:42 ID:+MPZ+utD

@Anon. 1000 in the last thread - I found her on tumblr. She's not a Hiddlestoner blog or anything but she's posted about Tom a bit, so I feel confident she'd recognize him.

>>3 Did you manage to unredact her tweet? I am such a Luddite with the technology, I swear!

>>5 You are once again our super-sleuth!

7 Name: Anon. : 2016-04-05 21:21 ID:TnlrgsHc

>>3 Given the hair-trigger some of his fans have, she may have decided to leave TH out of the tweet. If she knows word one about him or his fans, then she probably knows linking him to a woman is like chum in the water.

She seems to have taken it down after people started to ask her questions/respond. Perhaps once someone mentioned the dreaded TH, she didn't want that sort of attention and pressed delete.

In what capacity has she posted about him? Marvel? A particular movie?

8 Name: Anon. : 2016-04-05 21:24 ID:TnlrgsHc

>>4 You just need to search for the quoted responses - as long as those haven't been deleted you can then find the @ twitter source. Like I said, THEO Anon needs to redact like the CIA does: All blacked out with only the date left - if that.

9 Name: anonsy : 2016-04-05 21:31 ID:+MPZ+utD

>>7 She's a Marvel fan to an extent, mostly the TV shows, but she's posted a some about Avengers and mentioned Tom by name once that I saw. Enough of a fan that she'd recognize TH from the movies (and probably EO from there as well) but not an entrenched Marvel Fangirl. She's more into other non-Marvel fandoms.

10 Name: Anon. : 2016-04-05 21:36 ID:TnlrgsHc

TH, not TH, PDA, mistaken identity - whatever - I still think they have each other's genitals on speed dial.

I think she was in HI more often than that one time. I think they saw each other in LA when he was returning home from HI. I think they very well may have seen each other - outside of the obvious promo work - in LA when he arrived from Vietnam.

However, I don't believe OK when it says that he wants to take 'the next step;' they both seem happy with the casual thing. And if they do decide to debut, they've both been so non-committal and evasive with their denials that they could work around the 'but they lied to us' outrage with ease.

>>9 Is there anyone in the US (or the known universe) who hasn't seen a really boring interview about ISTL at this point?

I felt the urge to bludgeon myself with my own iPad this evening. I am suffering from Too Much Tom. If I see one more interview with Tom looking bored except when he is hogging the mic, one more carefully curated outfit, one more tweet saying, "yeah, I just saw Elizabeth Oleson screwing Loki in the roadway" I think I shall scream.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

This is extreme TH, you've been warned. He exhibits no shame and no filter in this vid.

To Anonon's question >>988 He can say no; he can put his sizable foot down - we've seen it. But I think part of it is his cringe-o-meter is a little off. Maybe it comes from being an actor. Your cringe-meter must skew a little when doing green screen and sex scenes and acting like a tit for the camera. So when most people - if asked to do the Comic-Con thing, the ACM award thing or conduct a sing-a-long at a Q/A - would cringe a little at those ideas, TH probably thinks: It can't be as bad as that time I had to show my ass and pretend hump someone against a wall...sureI'll do it.

13 Name: Anon : 2016-04-05 22:04 ID:NAvnUPQi

>>10 I am not so sure it will go so swimmingly if they debut now - or later. Have you forgotten our feelings of major side-eye when she called the entire fandom loser bishes for daring to care about THEO? As you accurately observed at the time, people don't like to feel they've been played. However I will await with eager anticipation precisely how they manage to mess up going public.

14 Name: anonsy : 2016-04-05 22:04 ID:+MPZ+utD

>>10 I'm more likely to believe a random sighting on Twitter than anything printed in a tabloid. And - sorry TH and EO - I don't think there's going to be an awards season push for this film, so if they were going to make anything official ISTL premiere would have been the time to do it. Instead they brushed it off for what feels like the millionth time, so I think if the secret bronco ridin' is still happening, it's gonna stay secret until it's over.

>>11 Honestly I really starting to feel the same way. It's like there is a Tom Hiddleston loop on repeat. It's about the work - bad singing - THEO denial - red carpet - there comes a time in a man's life when he's asked to yodel - resurrected THEO sighting - blue suit - Loki questions - naked ass - it's about the work - bad singing... Lather, rinse, repeat.

15 Name: Anon. : 2016-04-05 22:07 ID:TnlrgsHc

>>11 Now, now, Anon, a street corner is super classy, just like the tumblr lady said, but a roadway? Loki and SW would never do that! And now I'm going to go search twitter for 'Oleson' because I've never searched under that misspelling!! ;)
I'm going to submit anything I find to THEOAnon, but I'm going to properly redact them.

EX: Just saw Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen. They were ############# on the street and ############ some sticks of butter with their ##############. He was wearing ############ and she ############# the cigarette on his ########### before they finally ############ and put their clothes back on. They looked cozy and had great chemistry.

>>12 This is the vid of the audio I posted on the last thread. He also exhibits no pitch. Anybody else notice how he tells the man off, pretty aggressively, and not the women who were recording (at least 3 that I know of)?

17 Name: Anon : 2016-04-05 22:17 ID:NAvnUPQi

>>14

Preach it, sister! I do need to lather and rinse because I feel dirty. My brain has sucked up too much TomTat and now I need to wash it all away.

This latest bout of THEO nonsense is sending me over the edge. I spend my entire working life asking myself whether a factual scenario is 51% likely to have happened and I can no longer cope with that degree of speculation in my crazy fandom life. I need certainty, dammit!

18 Name: Anon. : 2016-04-05 22:23 ID:TnlrgsHc

>>13 I found fault with the hypocrisy, but that's dependent on them/her/him having planted THEO stories in USWeekly. If she asked us to care (so they could debut or for the movie) and then belittled us for caring, that's not on. But if they do the 'We just weren't ready to go public, we never directly, specifically said that we weren't seeing each other/starting a relationship,' then it's hard to say that's outright lying - even if I personally think that's playing fast and loose with the truth.

>>14 We could play TH bingo. Squares for 'The Work,' 'We're just friends' 'mention of Rodney,' 'There comes a time when a man is asked to yodel.'

19 Name: Anon : 2016-04-05 22:32 ID:NAvnUPQi

>>18 A lot of fans are taking what she said as 2x outright denials. When people point to the sightings etc a typical response is "but she denied it so it can't be so". I doubt you'll be the only one who thought they played fast and loose with the truth.

>>23 Carefully Curated Tom is here to stay I'm afraid. He's really going all out for his American Debutante Ball.
Most of it is likely on lend so it shouldn't be too long before we catch glimpses of Casual Disaster Tom dining alone reading desolate prose. Or if we're lucky, he' and EO will do a pap walk with their hands in each others pockets and their tongues down each others throat, putting an abrupt end to being the dullest couple that never happened. Their denials have a whiff of Bill Clintons "I smoked weed but never inhaled" declaration. Riiiight.

I can't decide whether I am going to like or hate this. It certainly makes me raise an eyebrow about TH saying this was a brilliantly innovative take on the King Kong myth. On the other hand: lots of explosions, Tom's biceps in tight fatigues, and implausible ballet dancer impression at moment of crisis (they do this all the time in the SAS). Guilty pleasure?

Mostly when she is trying to show she is a fashion genius and not just a personal shopper. "I don't just choose really nice 3 piece suits for him! I put together cutting edge looks!" Please, no.

>>81 I went. Will do a write up later. I found it to be okay - nothing spectacular. Wait until you hear my fiancé's opinion on the suit.

>>86 I can't believe this - the stylist, having posted the usual "styled by me" pic on IG giving details of the designers, has deleted it!! Presumably this was after it caused a lot of people on tumblr to go "eew, worst outfit evah, bring back the sweat pants with holes."

BUT I have to say: If you are going to send the guy out there dressed in a suit stolen from a man who takes unofficial bets at a racecourse and socks you have previously loaned to Chris Evans, at least own your shit, bee-ach!

>>81 We almost missed this because of my inability to read emails or look at the fine print on tickets. I just assumed it was going to be at the NYT building - it was not. So, we were about 20 blocks away a few minutes before the doors opened. 20 blocks is A LOT of ground to cover in 30ish minutes on a rainy Monday in NYC. We picked cab over subway and just made it. There were single seats scattered around on the floor, even though it was supposed to be a sell out. But because we wanted to sit together we ended up in the balcony area, so no close-up TH for me.

Here are some quotes from the boy:

  • When he spotted TH's suit: Is he Scottish? (We saw a lot of the same pattern this past week/end because it was Tartan Week!! That suit made TH look like a leftover from Scottish Tartan Week. Shit! It was awful. He's a grown man, he should know better. Prayer circle that the stylist is only for this big promo tour and goes away after.)
  • About 30 minutes in: You can tell they got along. (The bromance was palpable.)
  • After TH's umpteenth quote: Is he going to answer every question with a quote?
  • At the end: That was not worth $80. (More like $110 with the impromptu cab fare/tip)

Overall, it was nice. I think HL stole the show, he was a perfect mix of funny and esoteric/common. TH's needs to take himself less seriously. At one point they were asked to talk about something they were currently obsessed with. TH spoke for 5 minutes about a book, essentially giving a book review = boring. HL said 'beach volleyball' = HL slaying it.

I will say that even from a distance, TH is beautiful. We were off to HL's side, so every time TH looked at HL, his face would turn toward us - gorgeous. He does, however, fidget like a 7-year-old school boy. It was probably that suit. Blame the suit.

The audience had to write down questions on cards (no embarrassing requests for hugs!). We missed the cards since we got there late but if I'd known I could have asked a question under the blanket of anonymity, I would have asked if he had enjoyed working with noted Shakespearean actress Jane Arthy and if he wanted to work with her again. I bet it would have slipped past the unknowing card censors; I bet TH's face at that moment would have given me an orgasm.

A few people approached the stage after it ended, but TH and HL headed for the wings very quickly - with no eye contact or backward glances! Some people near us said that there would be an autograph opportunity if you waited for them to come out afterwards (I don't think there's a side/back exit based on the block/building configuration), but we didn't wait. I'm too old for that shit. Instead, we walked over to the Russian Tea Room for overpriced blinis and stroganoff...and vodka!

I can say I've seen TH in the flesh (bird's eye view), but the evening was pretty standard TH wise. HL was a hoot.

>>84 That's it! I tried to think back to when I last saw something like this and it was that red one on ER. It's so...not exactly twee, but twee's more terrible cousin... Home Counties Etonian? And I would think TH would want to avoid that label with all his might.

>>87 It isn't 'styled by me' it's 'styled by yours truly' which makes me dislike her almost as much as this outfit.

The outfit reminds me of TH's old approach to social media. ALL the social medias! Now it's ALL the patterns: stripes (tick), tartan (tick), polka dots (tick). And if possible the pattern on the trousers makes his moose knuckle look like official lady parts. STAHP.

>>89 It looked very woolly - probably the fidgeting was an itch to his ladyparts.

My boy has a couple of Etro shirts, bought before we had a mortgage (they are very dear) and they have to be deployed with care as they are very outré. He loves the look but knows that as a hulking great Englishman they aren't really made for him. "If only I were gay, Italian and 5 foot 6" he said dreamily.

It's been a rapid slide downwards in the last week or so, stylist-wise. I just learned that that unbelievably basic striped top was 1400 bucks or something utterly stupid. It looks like it came from Marks and Spencer.

>>88 Did TH try to snatch the mic at any point?

I feel like we have reached saturation point some time ago. Tom can only be the perfect dinner party guest for the whole world so many times.

This is from The Sun so take with a pinch of salt. However.....!

Snatch the mic in a literal or figurative sense? They were all miced, so he didn't need to share. Wise decision. But he certainly grabbed the mic as it were by talking a lot - no surprise. But HL held his own.

Oh, yeah, we're at super saturation. I think part of my blah reaction to the evening was that I'm at TH capacity. The best part of the evening was HL's volleyball quote and the vodka, but then they would be, wouldn't they?

This woman must be stopped!! I didn't/don't care about EO. She can have him, she can drape her beige colored cardboard self all over him - I don't care. But this stylist must be stopped.

The funniest quote from this fart in a mitten of an article: The Englishman has never been one to shy away from a risky look, be it a bold color or quirky accessory.'

I remember he once wore a tie pin. And there was that one time he didn't wear blue or black or grey.

>>94 "A fun unexpected look - style be damned." Well, quite.

Maybe EO is his perfect match. A woman who read books might find herself compelled to listen and (gasp!) disagree, and then we would get sad face Marc Abrahams has the mic times. But EO can probably just zone him out and think about her latest black sack dress or whatever.

>>96 Purity. I can't remember the author. He pretty much summarized the entire book. He said he'd never laughed so much or been so touched - his usual hyperbole. He said it was long but that he'd read it on his last long-haul flight - Vietnam to LA? UK to LA? He didn't specify.

>>98 Ah yes, whichever book he's most recently read is his favorite book, the most profound, the most moving.

>>92 >>97 First the jellyfish incident, now naked wrestling? Not to mention all the scripted nudity. The cast and crew of TNM should start an "I Survived Naked Tom" support group.

>>92 I will only defend him this once. The naked wrestling was a necessity due to no wardrobe duplicates and the wrestling taking place in water. The notorious quick dry suit obviously didn't dry that quickly after all.

Also I don't think his stylist is entirely to blame for this atrocity. He would have had the final say and chosen it from a selection. Maybe all this time he's been drab he's been screaming to be fab.
>>97 Yes, cue those rumors!
