Thread to talk about the actor Tom Hiddleston
And his sisters don't both live close by, one lives in fricking India. Esquire!
Nooooooooo! That was his cat all along!
No wonder they looked so comfortable together.
I wonder if Bentley travels the globe with him to destinations other than Australia
>>202 I shouldn't know that but his sister actually moved back to London last year.
I hope the cat bit is true!
>>203 >>204 I'm calling stunt cat, not TH's actual real-life pet. In that Shortlist article, the whole premise was that he was 'a cool cat' so they pictured him with a cat. But if you want to get across the idea of him being 'a cool cat,' why not mention that the cat he's pictured with is actually his cat, which the article never does.
I feel like the journo read some background articles, saw him with the cat, skimmed the article, hit upon the name Bentley and voila TH has a pet cat? Would this happen with a professional journalist?
Or maybe TH does have a cat and was mentioning him during an interview. Probably showed a few pictures on his phone: Bentley eating, Bentley nestled in a blanket, Bentley looking grumpy in the bath tub.
>>206 I never read an article about something I really knew about without it being wrong in some respect. Even in the New Yorker - though admittedly rarely as their fact checkers are legendary. But a common or garden magazine article, even by a "proper" journalist - happens all the time.
So if we are to believe this article, TH has a cat but isn't getting any pussy. Badum tish.
There's yet more dancing with Swifty. Is he a little star struck? https://www.instagram.com/p/BE8mCj3o_kP/
Another pic from the Esquire photo shoot. I really like this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BE88tl5QQs6/?taken-by=ericraydavidson&hl=en
>>207 I'm now very sensitive when it comes to facts and fact gathering (and fact checking, I guess). In the office someone had the nerve to say 'I think' about an important issue. My response: 'But do you know because I need you to know!' Said the crazy woman.
I don't really care if he has a cat. I just need the facts to be correct! Said the crazy woman who's going to apply for a job at the New Yorker. CV slogan: Let me be crazy about your facts.
>>210 My thoughts exactly! But my job also makes me a tad funny about facts being wrong. It matters, people!
>>205 anon1, I feel like you may be in my line of work. You always know how to find out the goods. And you always see the tweets I see.
Tom is home!

A new UNICEF video: http://youtu.be/Ppao9ZGhWDc
>>214 Ah, bet he's happy to see Bentley.
Here's hoping for a cringe-less GNS that I can actually watch. Wishes: NO impressions, mentions of Hiddlestoners, mentions of fanfiction, yodeling, singing, dancing, tit-like behavior.
Just be your charming, intelligent, witty self, TH. We all believe in you.
Oh my god he's on the bloody news!
And really OMG OMG he apparently spent today with school kids for UNICEF - which I knew - but at a school which is visible from my house. How did I not know this? How did I not sense his aura? How did I mercifully escape seeing him when I sloped out for a coffee wearing jogging pants almost as worn and hole-ridden as his? (Though maybe he would have identified with this)
>>218 Oh yeah, he's been promoted to Unicef AMBASSADOR. As in: 'That's MR. AMBASSADOR to you, pleb.' I don't know why I'm screaming. And I don't think he'd call anyone a pleb.
PS Now Unicef - in true UN fashion - is going to end childhood poverty with a sponsored dance-a-thon featuring celebrities....hmmmm, who could TH dance with to end poverty?
>>219 Can you imagine the mummies at the school gates? I would think they would have been notified.
Why are you so dressed up today, mummy? Why are you wearing so much make-up? Why are we pretending daddy doesn't exist?
>>221 I'd have been like "the sun's shining and anyway I love my bikini and these heels."
Though it's really not that kind of school. I bet it's his first time setting foot in a state school. I think it was chosen because it is the rare combination of being near his home, being a state school and being diverse. He lives a lot closer to the state school that the Milibands went to but that's much posher and hence probably wasn't chosen.
Not one but two BBC news things:
TH confirmed for TV Baftas on Sunday
I guess his holiday starts next week.
What an American debutante ball he has had! You can't beat the dance- off finale with the belle of the ball and all the associated positive press, rapidly followed through with the Unicef care bear oh my bleeding heart flashback. Any skeptic would think it was coordinated. Or perhaps he was just in the right place at the right time. I doubt so many Americans need to google his name anymore, most certainly after Hiddlesbum circles its way rapidly round ED's thighs next week.
He's also completely backtracked on the second series denial to an almost positive confirmation. I await with bated breath the announcement.
The damage control from TS and TH camps was rapid and thorough; TS posting photos of her after after party, multiple twitter updates from TH and leaked papped photos leaving the club alone, and finally TS papped on a date with her man. I don't think we'll be seeing any more awkward dance- offs between those two for a while.
I hope he goes out with a bang on GN. He's been doing so so well, don't fuck it up now please x
>>224 It certainly looks like Taylor didn't want any gossip about her no longer being with Calvin: http://www.celebitchy.com/484177/taylor_swift_calvin_harris_definitely_still_together_despite_met_gala_drama/
Whether he cared one way or the other about getting publicity from the dance-off, or about damage control, I don't know. There is a no phones rule and he didn't look as though he was aware he was being filmed. He looked like he was a bit drunk and hanging out with the pretty popular girl on his last night in the US.
More interesting to my mind is whether THEO is still a thing, or much of a thing. No Met Gala for her even though she was supposedly on the guestlist and in New York that night, and he flew out of NY the next morning, having partied till the small hours. Maybe they are saving it for their forthcoming Bora Bora holiday!
Judging by Torrilla's latest snaps, the $1400 grey polo shirt has gone back to the designer and he has bought himself a budget version. Aaaw!
It was all Swifty's idea, apparently.
Tom says trolls have put him off Twitter: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/tom-hiddleston-trolls-put-twitter-944257.html?f=rss
Though for what? The negativity of too many heart eyes? I have heard that the blue tick verified accounts have a function whereby you can only see comments from people you follow; and his tag is full of hearts, heart eyes and even for ISTL not many poo emojis.
>>229 I've actually blocked a few people who regularly tweet terrible things to him. I won't mention usernames but if you've been in his tag I'm sure you've seen them.
>>230 I'm not a great Twitter user but I haven't seen them. Whenever I go to his tag I have only seen the "I love you" stuff and there's so much of that I tend to get bored and stop scrolling. Sad to hear if he does get trolled.
"She won’t discuss her love life: Olsen says it’s just something that is “in her bones” and influenced heavily by her notoriously private older sisters. “From an outside point of view, people have an interest in people they’ve seen grow up. But no one in my family has ever cared to feed into that or make it more interesting than it is because, really, it’s not.”
hahahahahahaha!!!!!
>>226 Is it a different one? I thought it was the same. I guess I'm not the best at distinguishing one boring, piss plain polo from another.
And because I didn't mention fan art in my prayers >>216 this happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYtNf0HEQxw
And because I did mention it in my prayers >>226 and God apparently hates me, this happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH_VpP0cxQA
Spoiler alert: it's not good. At least not to my ear.
Got your tix for ISTL yet, Anon?
>>234 Not yet. For me, today, it was all about the Work.
Hahahahaha!
>>233 Fan art. Chatty Man (whom I hate) did that and Couch Potato linked to it for me on the Chinese non-censored version of YouTube and I watched it while I was in China and nearly barfed.
I got about 30 seconds in. I love Mark Kermode. Front Row was a wonderful radio programme when he presented it. Sob, sob. Mark, what have you DONE? Also, getting musical here for a moment, you could use this rendition as a metronome. Every note was bang on the beat. The original version is such a beautiful song, at the interstices of country, blues and gospel. I've been listening to a bit of HW in advance of seeing the movie. More sobbing.
Oh my bleeding ears.
I'm going to celebrate the fact that finally ISTL promo is finally over. The turkey is basted.
There is a rumor circulating from the BBC he is about to announce a Shakespeare role. I guess that's how a workaholic takes a holiday, by settling into their comfort zone and working near home
>>238 I wonder if it's that James Ivory film adaptation of Richard II. He's been rumored as attached to the project for a while.
TH on GNS. Much better than the last go-round. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jSSRUcFz40
>>239 I wonder. I haven't listened to the podcast of Front Row but the tweet from the presenter didn't say stage, just Shakespeare.
And now for something completely different ..
IF the Richard III or James Bond gigs don't end up working out for Tom, he may at least have a small role to play in the new Star Wars films.
It seems that the author of the latest Star Wars spinoff book, Claudia Gray, mentally cast Tom as the central character opposite Princess Leia in her (so far very well received) book. Coincidentally, both Tom and Carrie tuned up at the White House Press Dinner soo ... probably means bugger all.
Tom is at the BAFTAS. TV awards only so it's a lot less glam, usually - looks like they are trying to make it about more than soap actresses in unfortunate pleather dresses.
>>243 Pleather is a beautiful fabric: natural, breathable, classy. You obvs don't know nuthin bout fashone.
>>242 There are Star Wars books? I'm not a fan, haven't seen the newest one and probably won't until it comes on basic cable. If he does get a role, I hope he's wearing an adult diaper when they tell him. Otherwise, Olly's going to have clean-up duties. He'd be that excited.
>>241 I'm going to say screen not stage. Actually, I don't know. I'm sure the white-knuckle fans are hoping for stage. Then they can go in fan-zombie mood when trying to get tickets and get his attention at stage door.
Great little interview from BBC radio.
He doesn't do a very good audition for The Archers - the accent and his impromptu both stink, but he let's out some sweet little gems throughout.
>>244 Anoooooooon.!!!!!!! How are you?
Did you see HR? Did you enjoy it?
I have to be a good fan this week because ISTL is playing at about 10 cinemas in total in London, none of them very near me. I'm planning on a midweek, midday showing at a hipster venue, when all the hipsters will be sleeping off their retro coke, and nobody will see me.
I finally saw HR on the weekend with friends and we all loved it. I'm astonished it has been so divisive with audiences. Considering the amount of walkouts I expected it to be far more violent and controversial. My bf, who is a huge Ballard fan and has been squeeing with excitement since filming began, felt the film descended into mayhem too rapidly. He wanted a longer film with more focus on the build- up. The concensus was that LE and his porn moustache stole the show, especially his mad dancing and the soundtrack is phenomenal. It's my favorite TH film to date and I'll watch it again.
I have had mixed success converting friends to TNM. The bf gave up on episode 3 calling it a droll 80s quasi Bond while single female friends can't get enough. Other coupled friends got bored and switched to Bruce Lee.
>>249 As an ex smoker who steals cigarettes only when drunk I feel we have an affinity
Oh god. Time to break out the puppy water spray again: http://www.digitalspy.com/showbiz/baftas/news/a793392/tom-hiddleston-hits-the-decks-at-the-baftas-afterparty-ladies-and-gentlemen-its-the-night-manager/
>>251 Ha! I guess he finally released the valve after all those months of hard work. He really is 'that guy' at parties; close talker, obnoxious dj overthrower and occasional guitar twanger. Lucky he can dance.
Seriously, he screamed 'Ladies and gentlemen it's the night manager' !?! Sounds like he had some party twat enhancers
This kind of makes up for it: http://www.theguardian.com/culture/2016/may/09/double-agents-007-elba-and-hiddleston-bond-at-the-baftas
>>252 people probably died in his rush to get to the decks.
Oh, and a dance-off with absolutely my least favourite British actor: http://www.tv3.ie/xpose/article/entertainment-news/202347/Tom-Hiddleston-busts-a-move-at-TV-BAFTAs-bash
>>256 No I mean Martin Freeman!
Here is our boy as DJ. Cringe, cringe: http://twh-news.tumblr.com/post/144095160126/theres-our-night-manager-managing-the-night
>>257 Oops, that just occurred to me as you wrote it.
Oh, poor boy. At least when I behave badly I can undo most of the damage with a day of conscientious untagging on Facebook. He must be cringing in his mancave
This tweet is rather amusing. From another reality TV strumpet:
Catch up in #cannes2016 @twhiddleston? Give me that dance you promised at #baftatv! 👯
I wonder if he is heading to Cannes to capitalise further on his rising stardom. Wouldn't be surprised..
>>258 "Cringing in his mancave" - genius! I bet he has a leather beanbag.
I've just inadvertently worked out how to emoji here
😍😍😍😍😍
>>259 Yes, black leather, all wet and sticky from spilt whiskey and tears
It was attached to the twitter comment. Copy and paste from twitter. There's so many heart eyes to choose from!
https://www.instagram.com/p/BFMa0eAmQ_7
'Fuck, it's terrific,' he says as he sweeps back his hair!! I'm glad he didn't do all the sound effects when he pulled it out in the film. I remember it being a quiet death.
>>247 I wasn't gone for that long!
>>247 >>248 I think people like me are the reason it's been called divisive. I won't be going to see it in the theatre. High-Rise got my $9.99 and that's it. I felt so discombobulated by...everything. And then I started to think too much about it. Do I feel discombobulated because the people in the building feel that? But the people in the building behave like everything's normal. Is this allegory or metaphor? What the hell? As I was doing that, I missed the paint fight, Laing humping on the pregnant lady and an orgy and had to rewind.
I didn't find it too violent; that wasn't the problem. Oddly, I think it was as lacking in flow and cohesiveness as ISTL. I would have been one of those walkouts.
>>264 Muffin and Crumpet seem like small dog names. Muffin's no name for a golden retriever.
>>260 You can cut and paste most emojis into message boards: No 🐱for Tommy but he's got a big 🐓.

The look on this woman's face!!!
>>266 I spent a few minutes thinking "Tom has a big chicken? Wha???" before I got this. The emoji most used in the gay community is apparently this one: 🍆
>>267 Looks like a still from a horror movie.
She is airbourne and appears to be gasping for her final breath after being stabbed.
I had an uncle who used to literally throw his dance partners around in a similar manner. It was all fun and games till I threw up on him.
The fantasy of partying with Hiddles appears to outweigh the reality.
I'm so surprised at how few screens ISTL is on in London. Thought I might catch it at my local PIcturehouse or at The Arthouse this week. Will have to take a trip across the river or into town at this rate if I want to see it.
>>272 It's rubbish! Not showing at any of the Everymans or at the Tricycle. I am going to have to head into town I think.
>>273 I'm actually a bit shocked - I thought that it might be on at either the small groups like Everyman and / or Picturehouse, seemed to be right up their street. Really awful distribution deal. They must just not have bothered. Feel a bit sorry considering all the promo interviews TH has been doing.
>>274 It is on at Picturehouse Central - possibly not all of them.
>>272 Two - TWO - theatres on the island of Manhattan. A few more in Brooklyn and Queens.
They spent what must be a laughable about of money on promo but didn't then actually get it into many theatres.
Maybe they're planning on a re-release in the fall - like they said - but I don't see that being the reason for the low distribution numbers now. As great as TH and EO were, I don't think their performances are going to get noms out of such a poor movie.
There's now footage of the dancing. Just go to my original link >>267
He's a smooth bastard, but that girl was whipped around like a rag doll. Good on her for keeping her feet!
As a shorty, I also love that he bends his knees when dancing with her. My fiance has to do the same and complains too often about it. It's not my fault! is usually my response.
>>275 Yeah, only PH Central. I refuse to go to a cinema in the middle of bloody Westfield and wanted to go to a day screening.
>>277 I dance salsa a lot. I think you mentioned that you do too. That's the guy nobody wants to dance with.
Alistair Petrie tweets: "Episode 4. Watch it. No ifs. Some butts." https://(twitter).com/alistairpetrie/status/730055591473844224
This would be a funny joke were it not for the fact that AMC has apparently edited the arse out.
>>276 It's terrible, isn't it? I feel so sorry for him putting weeks of his holiday time into promoting a movie that it is virtually impossible to see. In fairness it has been showing at a small number of central London cinemas in the Odeon and Vue chains, but not in the art house cinemas where one would have thought it might attract an audience. Also for my purposes I need to be able to buy a dry Martini at 1.30pm to get me through the horror, not really a possibility at family friendly venues!
>>279 It's our couple-time activity!! I learned with the Italian, and then my fiancé and I took lessons together when we were going out. TH is actually the guy I would pick, because I would look sooo much better! He just needs someone to say, 'Stop. Stop. Breathe. It doesn't need to be this way.' Talk about internal decapitation. It wouldn't surprise me if that girl were in a neck brace.
>>281 Flask. It needs to happen. Remember, I took 3 mini wine bottles in with me (after a full one at home) and it was still pretty bad. And I don't even mind his singing or southern accent! Anon, girl, you need to be TANKED.
>>282 What are you referring to Savvy? To ISTL tweets or Dancing Queen Tom tweets?
The replies to his tweet with the link to the Guardian article on the children from countries in crisis. There was a girl complaining that he "censored" her reply. She seems to have deleted the tweet now (probably because of his fans) but she did republish the tweet that he censored (but without mentioning him). It's absurd because all she did was comment on the article by saying "shame on the UK" (I saw it before she deleted it too).
She doesn't look like a crazy fan but what do I know?
But I checked the replies to his tweet and I couldn't see any of the usual "I love you" and "follow me" so she might be right.
>>282 I'm not sure I see that. I clicked on a few egregious "I love your eyes" type replies and they all said "in reply to @twhiddleston" at the top.
>>283 He's the guy who dances with you and afterwards your right arm is 6 inches longer! He needs the lesson about subtle leads.
He really needs some dance lessons.
>>265 PS I only just saw this. I think he says, "fuck it's horrific" - which at least sounds less like he loves his own noises.
>>285 That's probably because this sort of tweet usually brings out the 'I'm an intelligent, educated, feminist, humanitarian who happens to be really committed to the same issue as you, Tom' types and not the heart-eyes, teenager types.
The heart-eyes teenagers don't want to go to school themselves, why would they care about education in a war zone!
And if he (or someone from Team Tom) censored her for 'shame on the UK' - that's madness, because I'm pretty sure that is the exact response an article like this is actually trying to elicit.
>>285 I'm not going to link her tweet here but it's not difficult to find it. She wrote exactly the same comment on the new tweet.
Maybe he did it by accident and the poor girl thinks he didn't like what she wrote. She doesn't seem to be following him though.
So twitter tells me there was no 🍑 in last night's ep. of TNM. Twitter is REALLY telling me this - a lot.
Twitter is 😡 😡 😡 and ready to 🔫 a trick (this isn't Survival Knife Crime Island, it's Where the Hell Are My Bullets Land).
No 😍 😍 😍 for AMC.
I'm sure this is available somewhere (without a eoblockergay) - Torrilla probably has it up, but I thought I would link this version here for those who can access it.
I don't see another version yet.
https://soundcloud.com/marinebassas/tom-hiddleston-on-virgin-radio-uk
Here he is on Virgin radio. It's a playlist sort of interview. Portishead's ABBA cover is at about the 10:45 point and Tom comes in after that.
Went looking for a link to a pic on one of the old boards and I stumbled across a link to a tweet from a couple of years ago from the meercat (remember her?). Saying she lived near TH in London. God, that one was in deep delusion for a loooong time.
>>293 Apparently the power of the people has caused AMC to back down. He Hiddlesbum will now be going international: http://nypost.com/2016/05/11/theres-big-news-about-tom-hiddlestons-butt/
>>298 more likely an attempt to improve the bad ratings with the live+3, the show hasn't been doing very well.
Tom inspires Turner Prize nominee?! http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2016/may/12/turner-prize-shortlist-anthea-hamilton-michael-dean-helen-marten-josephine-pryde
