>>300 >>301 Yeah, aren't these the same sources that turned out to be catfishers - is that the term?

I 'researched' a total of 5 men during my time in England: 3 Brits, one Scot and an Italian. All of them were as God made them, full and intact. Religion - and I guess medical conditions - really seem to be the only reasons for circumcision.

>>303 I wrote it in the last thread, sometimes I hate him he's so well put together and proportioned. He's really very David-like.

And as thrilling as a quick look at his dinky is, I'm more than happy with those shoulders and chest.

>>304 The only circumcised partner I have had was Jewish.

I think many Americans (at least those who have not carried out "research" on our shores...) have a hard time understanding just how unpopular circumcision is in the UK. People keep saying on tumblr "but his parents were rich!" or "but he looks so clean!" as if you would only choose not to have your baby circumcised if you were filthy and living on the breadline!

>>306 It's becoming fairly uncommon on these shores as well. A lot of people used to get it done because they wanted sons to 'look like' their fathers (fathers from a generation when nearly everyone in the US was automatically circumcised). But I think people have realized that this becomes self-perpetuating/sustaining, so they've just stopped.

Got to love the reasoning of some people: Poor, dirty = you must be uncircumcised! That's a Ven diagram I've not seen!

It seems that I decided to check up on this board at interesting times in TH's fandom, lol. Hi, guys! It's been a while.

>>312 Unless it's a very impressive willy :) Or the guy was very interested in TH's willy at the time - which is nothing wrong with that! But even if he does remember, I'm sort of side-eyeing him for enjoying so much his 15 min in this tiny corner of the Internet known as TH's fandom.

On a different note, I remembered recently that TNM was supposed to air and watched the 1st episode so far, and though it was rather good! Better than Bond, still a bit too campy for my tastes, but really not bad! TBH, lately I am having trouble mustering up any enthusiasm re: TH, whether he's fighting bad guys, making breakfasts, or even swinging his naked willy (therefore my absence) but I think I'm still going to keep watching!

>>311 I'm not sure if I believe the guy. Not about Tom being uncut but about him knowing Tom in college. I'm pretty positive Tom is uncut, based simply on cultural norms of UK. But not sure I believe the guy about going to school with TH. It's possible he might have but I'm always wary of people who pop up on tumblr with claims of having some sort of personal connection with Tom. Or any famous celebrity for that matter tbh.

>>314 England's a small place and the prevalence of Old Etonians and Oxbridge grads makes it feel smaller if you move in those circles. For example: there is someone down the hall at work who is an OE who is about the same age. It's such a small school that they undoubtedly knew each other and he probably knows and is in touch with people who are his close friends.

But I agree that it seems a coincidence that someone who just happens to be married to the person who runs a very well known Hiddleston tumblr blog suddenly pops up and says this.

>>317 Yes, welcome back! Just seen your post in my coffee break when I had a bit of time to peruse the board properly as opposed to looking at the last post only. I hope that a peek at Liddle Hiddles revives your esteem for the great man!!!

>>317 And I've missed you guys!

>>318 Same here, I had a free moment, read a few of the last posts and was back to my work stuff again.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I still like the great man and still think he's talented and handsome! It's only that I don't get so excited about him for some reason. (Well ok, I know the reason, but it's irrelevant to the topic and real life related. It's not him, it's me!)

But still, that fleeting peek? He should really try harder to lure back such a valuable fan as myself :) Until then, I'm counting on HR to get me back on the Hiddles-wagon.

Anyway, I've been catching up on the posts, and although I'm clearly late to the party, but
>>263 I don't know what it is, but Anon, I'm laughing at that image so hard :D Literally to tears, for about 20 minutes now :D
>>261 I hear you, Anon., I mean it totally wasn't weird that at some point I considered photoshopping him into all my photos, wedding included. Granted, he would have looked awkward in them, being shirtless and all, but it wasn't like I was after the plausible photographic composition anyway.

On a (more or less) serious note - they are charging $500??? No way, not even at the peak of my infatuation with him. Plus, I agree - super awkward.

Yeah, so many choices.. But I doubt he knows any of them by (nick)names, so I think I'll just brighten his day by confessing I came all the way from LT to ask him about that mole he has and what influence it had on his acting career. After all, I'm all about his art nowadays!

Meanwhile, I checked again for any news about HR screening in LT and there are still none. We have this spring film festival and I had a tiny hope that maybe it would be in the programme, but nothing so far. I'm starting to doubt that I'll get a chance to see it on the big screen at all :(

I keep forgetting Sian! When Anon suggested, I thought to myself that I don't look like any of his ex-GFs at all, but I was humouring myself for a moment that if I tried really hard, maybe I could pass for a less glamorous Kat Dennings (like A LOT less glamorous). But now I realise with horror that I would probably be Sian!

Rather a more nuanced view on diversity and the arts (yawn - why is he expected to have the answers to this?). He was crucified in CB over the Guardian interview for living in his ivory tower (I paraphrase) but this interview was done at more or less the same time and probably not in "response" to criticisms of the Guardian piece. It suggests as we remarked at the time that the fault lay in the interviewer - or how she edited his response.

After Tom's mention of UKIP in the Sight & Sound interview I read a thousand Wikipedia articles on UK politics but I still feel a little lost. Can someone give an American a brief explanation of the major political parties?

343 Name: Anon : 2016-03-05 07:47 ID:qAvx5iXW

>>342 Ok I will try. No guarantee that other Brits on here will quite agree but here goes.

UKIP - usually accepted to be most far right party. Wants end to participation in EU, end to immigration (often thought to be appealing to covertly or openly racist views though they deny this), end to Human Rights Act, repeal of equal rights legislation for women, POC, disabled etc, support for broadening gun laws. Large popular support when counted nationwide but one MP due to vagaries of political system (votes split across hundreds of MP elections so almost no wins. I mention them first but they are regarded as a marginal party - extreme views, some grassroots support (like DT but much less successful in the event).

Conservative - very broadly equivalent to Republican. But a lot less right wing. For example: No support for repealing abortion laws. No support for broadening gun laws and indeed legislated against handgun ownership in the 80s. Supports and brought in legislation for gay marriage in last Parliament.

Labour - very broadly equivalent to Democratic Party. But a lot more left wing eg some want to end nuclear deterrent and in the 70s there was 99% tax for highest earners. Bernie Saunders would be moderate in the Labour Party. New leader after a fairly crushing defeat in the last election when it was widely predicted they would win. He is called Jeremy Corbyn - little political experience as a front bencher (ie holding a shadow cabinet post). Another expression of grassroots discontent, from the other end of the policitcal spectrum - he is not widely supported by other Labour MPs.

Liberal Democrats - hard to place. Theoretically liberals would be between labour and conservative historically. The party originated in the 19th century as an alternative to Tories (conservative) and Whig (not equivalent to labour but more left wing). Recently it tried to position itself to the left of Labour. Was decimated in the last election and now only has 9 MPs. Ironically UKIP got more votes I think.

Broadly speaking we have a similar structure but it is all shifted to the left.We had a couple of Communist MPs during WW2. There is a great Monty Python sketch explaining the US system to the British whic says "The Republican Party: this is equivalent to the Conservative Party. The Democratic Party: this is equivalent to the Conservative Party."

344 Name: Anon : 2016-03-05 08:10 ID:qAvx5iXW

>>342 PS we vote for our MPs as you vote for egg senators - you vote for one candidate for that state (or constituency over here) and your vote only counts for that particular race. We call it first past the post. There is no transferable vote and it doesn't go to a national total of who got most overall. The difference is there is no separate race for PM - the post is filled by the party that gets most MPs. When we talk about a hung Parliament we mean that there aren't enough of one party's MPs to win a vote. We don't get a democrat President, a Republican Congress situation.

Some people have complained that his means parties with a lot of votes nationally (chiefly the Lib Dems) lose out on this system. The significant upside to my mind is that parties like UKIP don't get many seats. There are disadvantages with both systems.

Bringing this back on topic, TH lurves Corbyn, I think. Cf this Guardian interview (though he refuses to say how he votes). http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/oct/08/tom-hiddleston-interview-crimson-peak

PS this is one of my favourite interviews because I think it gives a sense of what he is like as a person. For example that he smokes - but like the Queen, is never photographed doing so. That said a lot to me about how he seeks to control his image.

Longtime lurker here. While this political discourse is fascinating, I feel the need to redress the balance with some smut. This image was miraculously overlooked in the excitement of the blurry flash of Little Hiddles. Thanks to a tight climbing harness, Little Hiddles is rather prominent and appears to be of a short and fat nature, generously padded by unfeasibly large balls. A big shout out to the climbing harness for leaving nothing to the imagination and a pang of jealousy towards the lucky person who strapped him in.

Forget TH's balls, I want to hear the story about the creepy old man! TH will probably become a creepy old man at some point; he's not shy with his reconnoitering of females, and once a person has that, it's only a matter of age before he hits creepy old man level.

360 Name: Anon. : 2016-03-05 16:34 ID:NZrQCpAh

>>346 I wonder if TH has ever really tried to hide any of his 'true self' - ugh, I hate phrases like that - or if we, the general public, just haven't seen it because of editorial choices (not TH choices). If he didn't want us to know about his smoking, he wouldn't have mentioned it in this interview. And we only have it because the author decided to put it in the piece. TH might have smoked his way through every single print interview since year dot, but journalists, editors, etc. haven't mentioned it - and not necessarily because he hasn't told them not to mention it.

When I saw this photo from the ES awards, I realized he was a smoker: everyone's outside in the very cold weather (classic enforced outside smoke break), HMc has got a cig, the people behind them have got cigs. TH has very likely got one in his right hand - he isn't hiding it and doesn't seem bothered to have a pic being taken of him - but the photographer has either shot it without TH's cig or made that edit afterwards. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B5JlrcLIQAAiSM2.jpg
And since JA and EO are of the chimney variety, it seemed logical that he would be as well; non-smokers so rarely take up with smokers.

As for his Corbyn love - that wouldn't surprise me. I would imagine that he might be an economic conservative and social liberal. His production company - which doesn't produce anything as yet - may be a little dance he's having with HMRC.
But he certainly talks the talk of a liberal in regards to social issues. He probably also loves Corbyn because they have the same number of non-suit clothing items.

A string of new ISTL pics on twitter and IG from the film's site.

http://sonyclassics.com/isawthelight/

I know I'm in the very small minority, but I'm looking forward to it. By all accounts, it's going to be a mess of a plot, and I'll probably be thinking are they, aren't they? as I watch the two leads interact, but if I made it through OLLA - where NOTHING happened by the way and there was pretty dubious dialogue - and still appreciate TH's performance, I can make it through this.

362 Name: Couch Potato : 2016-03-05 17:26 ID:+hqaymin

>>360 I think that is the only photo I have ever seen where he might have been smoking. It was taken during ISTL so it makes sense if he was smoking a lot for filming and then struggling to give up, as he said in the interview. He has been depicted many times in cafes and on the street by fans and occasionally paps and I have never seen him smoking. That's what I mean about being careful. Someone smoking is order mentioned by journos as "local colour" so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't smoke during interviews. Saying you smoked a bit for a role and have tried to give up feels a bit different. I think it's a fib FWIW and that he has smoked on and off throughout his adult life - he has the classic smokers' lines between the eyes and from the nose to the mouth.

>>360 As to his politics - I have long wondered whether he votes with his wallet. The proposals for mansion tax, had Labour been elected, would have cost him about £40k a year if Zoopla's valuation of his home is correct. And that's before any other tax increases. There are plenty of Tories who are socially liberal and economically conservative (low tax, low regulation, lots of incentives to grow business) - one stereotype, of whom I have met plenty, is the gay London Tory. Socially liberal with stacks of cash.

As for the business, yes that is a form of legal tax avoidance. They way it works is this: offer your services as actor as an employee through your company. Company pays you as sole shareholder a dividend on which you pay income tax. If you have a good year you may choose to pay only part of your earnings/the company's profit as dividend and leave the rest in your company, where you pay corporation tax but at a lower rate than personal income tax. If you have a lean year coming you drip out a dividend that year, smoothing your income and potentially keeping yourself in a lower tax band both years.

This is how almost all actors offer their services. It isn't bent but it is a bit rich when many of them are railing at the evils of tax avoidance by Starbucks (eg Amanda Abigdon of Sherlock fame - who not only ran her affairs through a company but also tried to bankrupt herself to avoid paying a large tax bill until she got rumbled by the press).

Before TH goes all cloak and dagger bad boy, let's flashback to a time when he was a curly haired goofball who wore really bad sweaters.

>>343 >>344 Thank you SO much, Anon!

>>347 I'm fascinated by the male anatomy. How does one even walk with something dangling there, especially when it's as significant in size as Tom's? Doesn't it get in the way? When stowing it down one pant leg or the other, does it feel lopsided? The one time I asked a man these questions he just sort of shrugged and looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe they just don't really notice since they've always had to deal with it?

>>367 And it sometimes moves without you wanting it to.

I just asked my husband about the lopsided down one leg thing. He says: of course it feels lopsided. But it is only an issue if you wear very tight trousers. Otherwise (and I quote) the balls sit one either side of the seam. I am told that it is monstrously uncomfortable to wear tight trousers if you are well hung. This probably explains why John Hamm almost always wears slacks.

PS my (off topic) pleasure about the political stuff!

>>347 Welcome Anonon!

>>360 I'm going for the latter. I think his true self is 'normal.' If he weren't in an attention gathering career, he'd be like any other well-off, 35 year old bachelor. He's pretty discreet about relationships - that's probably the extent to which he hides anything.

>>361 I'm trying to muster enthusiasm for ISTL. If looking for signs of chemistry between THEO will help me pay attention, then so be it. Otherwise, I'm just in it to see his performance and wonder at what point he realized that the direction and editing was a clunker.

>>368 You'd think that pushing them together with briefs or boxer briefs while wearing loose slacks would help but I guess any restraint is uncomfortable at that (?!) size. Kind of like we large-busted ladies and bras - worse if ill-fitting. Then if they're in one tight area, they get sweaty and wwwww… schwety balls, man.

370 Name: Anonon : 2016-03-07 02:04 ID:6Beckjto

>>361 I'm wondering if his clunkerdar is broken. I work in the film industry have read many a bad script. It's screechingly obvious from the onset that nothing can save them. ISTL seems to have suffered from Abrahams' megalomania: script writer/ director/ producer. I wouldn't be surprised if he interfered with the editing. Only a genius can pull that off.

>>368 How do pendulous gonads jog in loose shorts? As a large busted lady I have to double- bra. Do they double- brief?

We can't call it the Moneyshot, as I hear that's later in the movie.

>>377 I think the spelling can go both ways. There was a bakery/candy store on the UWS that used to sell Schweddy balls! This was a few years ago. You'd buy a few and then - in your best NPR radio voice - do the hit quotes from the skit: My mouth's watering thinking about your balls, I can't wait to get my mouth around these balls, no one can resist my Schweddy balls, etc.

So puerile, so funny.

At an appropriate time - 'appropriate' being the key word - I'll throw my apartment keys at TH's face and shout, 'Come and get it, big boy.'

If that doesn't work, then I'll hold a purse in front of my face, whine "Tom, Tom, where are you?' and lure him into a waiting taxi.

A Plan A and B - how could it go wrong?

TH could surely use a fur jock strap. He has so leetle fur of his own. Maybe he has one and that accounts for the padded appearance of his groin area.
