You know how people pretend to love X online because it shows that they're quirky and fun? I'm really getting sick of the current crop of X. I hope that this year, everyone will realize that they associate it with themselves from a couple of years ago, and knock it off.

Get a load of this shit man:
SO I was walking down the sidewalk today, as you do you know right? But first, let me mention I was wlaking a few days back. ANd you know what I saw then right? A fucking fish, right on the road. A big one too. The sort that fishermen brag about catching. Fucking huge as cod or something. It was fresh too, no smell! And no one was even touching it to move it off the side of the road! Usually you ifnd road kill you know, on the side of the road, not a huge ass fish.
So I was walking today then, as I previously mentioned. And there again! I saw the huge fish! It was dry and old now, so no smell as well. No onehad touched it in the time, which was a few days. It was hot so it dried quickly. And you know what I did when I saw it? I just kept on walking, just like evryone else. Didn't even move the fucking fish off the side of the road. I also ran into a really old friend of mine, when I first saw the fish. Hadn't seen him since my early teens you know. Man, he'd become hella swole. Like, he's been fucking bitches nonstop too, girl he's dating, cheated on her 7 times. Also ran into some people I didn't even think live in my neighborhood anymore, but I didn't stop to chat. Not that t matters though, I don't care about them. But that huge hella ass fish, that shit's why I walk.

day 11 of quarantine: stuck inside, gyms closed, haven't been able to get any exercise. deeply considering bench pressing my stationary bike.

966 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9708 10:32

Never understood why people pay for gym memberships. I carry heavy shit up a hill every day and I'm ripped, and I didn't need to pay anyone

967 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9708 14:43

>>966
If you don't do heavy physical labor as part of your daily activities it's the most time-efficient way to build muscle and thereby look healthy and attractive.

968 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9708 15:24

>>966
Generally I agree with you, I think gyms are way too expensive and there are plenty of free alternatives, but...

  1. Gyms provide a comfortable environment to exercise when the outdoors is hot/cold/rainy
  2. Gyms provide equipment to efficiently target areas you want to improve
  3. For some people, spending money provides motivation to keep going

that said having a job that involves physical activity seems like the best solution.

A lot of people don't push anything heavier than a mouse at work.

Yandere appeals to the two universal desires: unconditional love, and the sweet release of death.

971 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9708 19:24

Lately, I feel like people often tend to say deviantart when they're talking about something good on there. And deviant art when talking about the "oh God why" stuff.

It makes perfect sense as a convention, and obviously it's informal, yet I've never seen it spelled out. Similarly, when people type "____ dot ___" to ridicule a website's resident absurdities.

972 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9709 05:42

>>966 this is literal slave mentality. in ancient athens slaves weren't allowed to train physically because hauling wood or plowing fields or whatever kept them in just good enough shape to be able to do whatever manual labor was required of them without them getting strong enough to rebel against their masters.

being able to train in a controlled, regimented way instead of just whatever your job happens to throw at you that day, being able to train in a specific way for a specific sport is the privilege of an aristocrat...being fit and strong is something you do for yourself, not so you can do your job better.

973 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9709 08:24

>>972 It's not slave mentality, I'm not talking about work, I'm talking about going for a run up the hill with lots of bags of sugar hehe. I push a mouse 9-5 then rip a bong and sprint round town while I carry stuff. There's nothing you can do at a gym you can't do for free with your imagination! >>968 all good points though. I personally love to run when it's stormy weather but I know I'm weird.

974 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9709 08:28

When I was in jail I passed the time doing calisthenics and it solidified my belief that gyms are a scam ᕙ༼◕ƒÖ◕༽ᕤ

975 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9709 08:50

>>973 you can't do progressive overload strength training or olympic lifts without a barbell and plates, which would cost me much more to just buy outright than the $15 a month i pay for my gym membership, and then while i'm there they also have an entire floor dedicated to boxing equipment so that i can apply that strength to learning to fight and defend myself

calisthenics and bodyweight exercises are good if you have access to literally nothing else, but dedicated strength training equipment will always be the best way to do strength training

976 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9709 13:18

and in between classes i can pass the time with activities such as posting

977 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9709 13:26

i paid for a home gym (=squat rack, bb, dbs, plates, misc) because confidence was a big issue with the gym for me and it's been worth it but i spent around $700 in the first year. saves lots of time going to gym.

i maintain that weight lifting doesn't actually make me healthy, it just makes me look like it.
