The mix of kids toys and plushies with adult home decor, jewelery and then otaku stuff like 1:8 figures of marnie is weird. I dont know any other franchise with such a wide audience.
EVA kinda rivals pokemon in merchandise though, Nintendo doesnt make DIY stuff like buckets as far as I can tell

Mao kind of freaks me out, I want to say his heart was in the right place but even the CCP has acknowledged that a lot of his agenda hurt China, I dont think those commies have ever admitted they were wrong aside from that.

The funny thing about Asian Communist dictatorships is that it's not substantially different from the despotism from time immemorial, and they can regress to that whenever they feel like it. It's mainly the labels on everything that have changed and a skepticism towards traditions (some of which were, in fact, backwards).

NK kept the mythic ancestry sort of woo-woo and the Xi era is flirting with state qigong.

Anyway, a lot of that is strictly from their gimmick of including trends and Internet memes, most of which aren't keepers of course ("agepoyo tonight" would be the perfect example, that word almost didn't exist after a year).
Their more serious stuff is still based, but it's not what they're known for. And their comedy lyrics can be pretty damn clever, too, but it doesn't usually come across in translation, because most of the translators are not qualified.

How do I learn how to arrange music? I'm pretty sure I should start out by improving at the piano first, but after that it seems such a huge challenge that I'm not certain where to start. I might have to pick up some music theory, but I would prefer not to go through an entire music degree (or the equivalent in effort) just to make some nice-sounding 2hu covers...

617 Name: ((●)トェェェイ(●)) : 1993-09-10222 14:32

>>616
There is an endless well of things you could improve at, but the 80/20 is to focus on improvisation (rather than technique) and (for electronically sequenced music) learning to play with effects and dials and automating them until your timbres sound good. The latter is the part I couldn't bring myself to do, as it takes a lot of listening carefully.
I assume you just naturally jam out if it's good.
A semester or two worth of theory is great for improvisation (and adding a little composition of your own, like say if you write a countermelody, it'd be recognizably yours). Advanced theory doesn't really help, although there are YouTube channels for that if you want some exposure to it without dry texts.
But again, it's an endless well and I only touched on the two things I think would help, knowing damn well I could be wrong.
