Yeah, Nintendo and I would even add Sony have been real disappointing with their "retro" tech. The NES mini is a joke, doesn't support real controllers or real cartridges, nor are its parts backwards compatible. I never was on segas dick back in the day but I think the genesis mini is a legit system with backwards and forwards compatibility, and they even went out and developed controllers for consoles that don't even have a retro mini version. Don't know much about PC engine games but I'm glad they're getting a taste of that quality as well.

Dunno if it's much help, but for things that I'm doing for fun I've found that it's a lot easier to keep several balls in the air than to do them one at a time according to some checklist or schedule (which often ends up with nothing getting done). It helps with getting started too, when I know I don't necessarily have to finish whatever I'm starting before moving on to something else. It took me until recently to figure this out, too...
For "important" things (outside of stuff I'm doing with others or otherwise critical tasks), though, I still haven't figured it out. I'm technically procrastinating on them by writing this...

You could try a BSD if you're the type that gets angry at modern computing, most of them use OpenBSD if you read their email chains. I think the biggest thing about modern computing is that you should find what use case you have and just use the OS that works the best for that. Of course, if you want to customize GNU/Linux and get angry at modern computing the best option is either Artix or Gentoo because I doubt you like SystemD.
Again, unless you're an Amiga or OS/2 loyalist in which you have MorphOS or AmigaOS and ArcaOS, you should look into some of the Unix OSes.

There are tweaks to windows 10 that make it really easy. You can even make it look like 98 if you want.

My experience with KDE was my manager being obsessed with it around 2012-2014. Every time I had to use it was an absolute chore because the UI was so hostile. They had lots of cool ideas and fancy features and bling, but it didn't matter to me because they couldn't get the basics down.
I run Ubuntu Mate because deep in my heart I'm still convinced 10.04 with GNOME2 was the best, in the same way Snow Leopard was the best. I hear GNOME3 isn't as awful as it used to be, but I haven't been in the mood to give it a chance at any point in the last 5 years.

I have been told that MATE is all nostalgia, but it looks lightweight and utilitarian, I have run ubuntu mate for a bit but because of my distro hopping during my GNU/Linux phase I never really sunk my teeth into it.
GNOME is not worth the time, even with all the improvements is not worth the time solely because of the performance. Even the cute GNOME flashback is very heavy for a GNU/Linux DE.

If it's about my thought about police officers, I didn't think too much about it, “decent human being” is just what came to hand, but “a good person” feels a bit different from what I was trying to say, a different kind of weight idk. Now I think a bit more about it, I do see a distinction, from my experience of dealing with cops, the way they see themselves and how they talk about civilians and perps, and all the videos I've seen of how american pigs deal with unarmed criminals, innocent victims, peaceful protesters and the like, it does seem all seem pretty inhumane. It seems some of it is deliberate too, how uniforms are designed, how people are profiled for getting stopped and frisked on the street and things. It seems like the system is deliberately designed to create this dehumanising divide between “the people” and “the state” too, and these neanderthals are employed to enforce the state's power, rather than to serve their fellow human beings. Or something, this sounds like I'm more passionate about the issue than I really am, I have mixed feelings about it. At the end of the day I just try to laugh. They're like cowboys!

It's not a language trend though, “decent human being” is basically a synonym for “good person”, but I expounded on why that would be the first term that came to mind in the context, which is where the question came from. The nicest policemen I've met were the ones who arrested me when I went to jail. They were so warm and friendly and polite. Living as a saint before then, every police officer I met was a bastard for no reason. That's fucked up
