SE answer is slightly incomplete. Most archaisms in modern Japanese are read aloud as written and adjective conjugations fall under that, so that part is well and good because they were talking about a song.
But occasionally, words are written in historical spelling for the same effect but are read aloud with modern pronunciation because it's also historical pronunciation. E.g. 思ひ出 as omoide; from about mid-Heian this ひ represented a wi sound as a conjugation of ふ u verbs, and around Kamakura wi and i merged into i.
Unfortunately, it takes a little familiarity with old text to know which is right in any given case (but only a little, は/わ-row fuckery + the au → ou shift covers most of what I've seen). Fortunately, the exceptions are rarer in modern artistic expression than the "just read it as is" cases.

Is it just me or do nurses always have phone sex voice?
>>876 I once had to record some placeholder voiceover audio for a nurse character, but it kept coming out as a sexy nurse no matter how hard I tried

This sounds like the explanation of why English spelling doesn't correspond to pronunciation, but did correspond to earlier pronunciations (eg "name" being pronounced "nah - meh")
As we all know, in order to not be a tourist on this site you have to have stopped watching anime or having any kind of personal life progression in 2007. This is a site for reposting the same 22 year old poorly translated copypasta for all eternity and not a site for actually discussing and posting things.
Why do I feel like the vehement anti-zoomer guy is a relatively new arrival himself, like one of those Americans who have existential crises because they went to Paris and found out that rather than some pristine ancient city of culture and legend it was just a normal fucking city where normal people live(and a far from "pristine" one at that).
the non-concatenated quotes (assuming that's him in the requests thread) do kinda give it away
the anti-zoomer guy is imitated by at least two of us. its funny how much it triggers people because it's fucking funny and I'm pretty sure the other guy is also being imitated.
>>881
all the people getting triggered are also just imitating others
i want a wordfilter that changes any word matching "consonant - wovel - different consonant twice - different vowel" to "niggy"
At least bubba is safe
and two/too to to
historically to and too were the same words, they added the extra o for disambiguation, only later did the number two change its pronunciation and make it confusing for everybody. Same thing with adding the w in whole and hole, they both come from the old English word hal.
/img/ just dove straight into the usual trash.
>>887
It is a shame. There were some cool threads early on, like the Kowloon one.
>>881
If by "other guy" you mean the one posting emojis/bumping threads/etc then yes there are multiples of those too.
Who's jewing whom over here?
Years ago when images was first introduced I had some retarded political argument on there and whoever it was that argued with me in good faith instead of just saying "we don't do that here" actually changed my mind on the topic. I think about it every now and then. I know serious and contentious conversations go against the spirit of the board but I did appreciate having a genuine conversation in a surprising forum even if it annoyed everybody else.

Hole is from OE hol, whole is from OE hāl (ancestor of modern "hale" and "hail" as well; cousin to "health" and "holy"). wh spelling reflects what was once a dialectal pronunciation.
So does "height", by the way (unlike length, width, depth, breadth).
Scandinavian drillcore label, Northern Rehtron
>>894
Ah, you're right, I had mixed up hol with the other remnants of hal (heal, hail, holy, etc) which lack the w, and made the assumption that hole was from the same root. However, the wh disambiguation is commonly accepted, it is not likely that any dialect pronounced it with the /hw/ sound in older pronunciations of "what" and "wheat" and so on, this doesn't survive in other instances of /h/ initial words and other dialects wrote it as hole even after the w was adopted.
With regards to height, do you mean the vowel shift in writing only or the irregular -t in place of -th? I can think of some other words which descend from a historical -th, such as theft. The vowel shift is unusual, I think the e was added as an analogy to other -th words which had historical umlauts.
>like one of those Americans who have existential crises because they went to Paris and found out that rather than some pristine ancient city of culture and legend it was just a normal fucking city where normal people live(and a far from "pristine" one at that).
When I went to England, I had Paris Syndrom about London, not because of that but because of how dirty and trashy it and some of the people were.
Bournemouth and Manchester were cool though.
>>897
that's not paris syndrome, that's a perfectly normal reaction to seeing engl*nd up close

Nintendo has an EA/Activision style racket going on of making the same games over and over but doesnt get nearly as much hate
>>896 the pronunciation it supposedly represents is "wole", rather. And in those days there were people writing "woſe" for "whose", for example, as if they didn't really get what the wh's everyone else was using are for. However, it's true that the supporting evidence is iffy. Most instances of "wole" on Google Books from that time (that definitely mean "whole" and not "would") are apparent typos, which kinda makes it poor evidence of being the typesetter's opinion on Orthographie. There were "hole" holdouts well into the 17th c.
I mean irregular -t; there are definitely people around today who still say "heighth" and aren't being hypercorrective. As for the vowel, OE/ME writers apparently had no goddamn idea so neither do I.

No touching Daddy's nonos without permission.

It doesnt bother me that interracial cuckolding exists. Its a fetish and everyone knows about John Persons. Its that theres an audience for Archie cuckolding that pay handsomely for it.

Interesting, so is the pronunciation with w for h then a hypercorrection?

I left the TV on after wrestling and discovered a political talk show centered around basketball, I think? "A new storytelling franchise created to provide a thought-provoking forum for content on topics occurring on and off the court of play."
Its bizarre to see a show talking about police reform and basketball in the same breath, theres are really obvious jokes to make here about blacks, but this really showed me that norms really overvalue athletes.
