If used for information and retrieving media, its incredible and beyond the wildest dreams of most of human history. Its both an incredible and terrible time to be alive.
There seems to be a growing distaste for social media anyway (both because of the content and the dystopian practices the companies running them partake in) and I hope it is just the growing pains of new technology getting integrated like the issues television caused when it first became widespread.

Unlike Western classicism, there isn't a movement in Asia to go "back" to old reconstructed pronunciations (disregarding how these are much less certain). Like, the best guesses at Old/Middle Chinese sound entirely alien just about anywhere, yet it's one of the most influential literary languages.

as far as i can tell television still causes all of those same issues though (parasocial engagement, media addiction, biased and sensationalized news). in the cases where it doesn't it's because it's been supplanted by other more addictive things that cause the same problems even worse (online news is even more sensationalized, videogames and social media are even more addicting, social media is even more parasocial)

> "estar" usually refers to impermanent states

This is an obnoxious way to think about the difference between "ser" and "estar" tbh. But I guess it's simpler than figuring out "ser" has an ontological dimension to it, like you're describing being itself, or something inherent to being, which I believe is a more accurate distinction.

299 Name: ( ´_ゝ`) : 1993-09-10138 18:41

lol, states. English has its own treatment of states that's totally normal for us but would be hard to explain to a foreigner. The difference between "I knew" (correct) and "I was knowing" (incorrect) is hard to explain when "I walked" and "I was walking" are both correct.

in other words, a permanent state, an immutable characteristic of the person or thing in question, without which they would be something else entirely. it makes better sense when you frame it like this but that might be too complex for 9th graders.

sou humano - i am human, it is inherent to my existence, i will never not be a human, if i were some other animal it would change my inherent nature

i want to eat less meat again so i'm learning some indian cooking. using no-refrigeration low-tech foods like legumes and ghee is also appealing, but i'm fixated on pre-modern life in general so that might just be me.

after looking through a lot of crap recipes (and the other extreme, innovative recipes that implicitly assume knowledge of the basics of south asian cooking) i finally found a book i would recommend which is 660 curries by raghavan iyer. (the title is a lie; it is a general purpose indian cookbook including chutneys, sambars, etc and explicitly mentions which recipes are from which part of india)

does anyone here know other good south asian cookbooks?

The YouTube channel CookingInRussia (now rebranded as CookingInFinland) has a good video on making a red masala for different curry applications. He also has a few other vegetarian and pescatarian curry recipes. Those only make up a small part of his video library, but the depth he goes is what sets his channel apart from most other ones. There's a good amount of non-South Asian vegetarian recipes as well. He also has a book on vegetarian dishes, but if you don't really enjoy cooking I'd avoid it because it's very involved. Most recipes in it have 2 or more layers of component preparation before you can even start the actual dish.

/personal/ is full of weird lonely people!

Everything about me is getting worse the older I grow, at my current trajectory I will be a fat worthless piece of human trash by the age of 40

Made $300 off ebay selling 3 old games. Makes me pretty cynical. I paid like $50 for the most expensive one.

If you want to, you can go over there and reduce the amount by one!

The thing about nu metal, neue deutsche harte, industrial metal and other 90s metal genres not deemed 'elite' by metal aficionados is that they're less metal and more synthpop and new wave, just with hard guitar riffs taking the place of hard synth stabs. Genuinely good synthpop and new wave at that. Catchy melodies, groovy grooves and interesting sounds permeate the songs of all the big bands in these genres. Had these genres been actual synthpop and new wave one could even excuse their corny lyrics.

I have always wanted to get into metal, but it genuinely made my head hurt whenever I try to listen to most things

>>342 What does it mean to you to "get into" metal, more than just enjoying metal songs?

The best metal band is either Babymetal or Megadeth

Stop Asian Hate feels like a parody of BLM.

I listen to Death Metal, but I pretty much stick with Dethklok, even if they're a joke band because the music is actually pretty damn good.

>>346
I didn't know that, I never really shat on them, and instead gave them the benefit of the doubt when the normies started getting butt mad about their music as I am a fucking contrarian. Anyway, as a lover of ass, I must see this ass.
