What is it like to be able to formulate and execute a simple plan without it going catastrophically off the rails on the first step due to some entirely unforeseen and completely improbable event every single time?

52 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9883 15:41

I use scim with anthy. I finally got everything set up the way I like it, but it was a pain in the ass because the magic lines in the Arch wiki were actually incorrect for my use case and nobody could tell me what any of them meant.

This is the sort of problem that should really be solved by Wayland, except the only thing Wayland is good for right now is watching the slapfight between Gnome and mpv.

53 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-9883 18:52

I went to college for electrical engineering, and I did pretty well, and I have several years of work experience, but I also kind of feel like I'd have an easier time prepping for and passing a software engineering interview, to get a job that maybe even pays more. Just about all the EE jobs I'm interested in want extensive experience with very expensive software and processes, and I'm in the rather unfortunate position of working for a place that does almost none of that. I took a gander at SWE interview reports for Google on Glassdoor, and while I'm not quite at that level, I think I realistically could be in the ballpark with a few months of work (and zero monetary investment, rather than having to either buy stuff or deal with pirating it).

You can do just fine on the interview and still not be selected, assess your risks accordingly.
Basically, I wasted six months of my life prepping for it twice, and if a recruiter comes calling again, that's what I'm gonna tell them: I worked my ass off for your company for six months, created nothing of value, and didn't get paid.
Be very sure it's where you want to work before you try. I only did it to placate family who have never had my best interests at heart.

It doesn't specifically have to be Google, I realize their interview process (like most) is pretty arbitrary; a common thread I noticed among non-selected interviewees was that they'd get through everything only to not "match up" with a particular team or be "googley" enough, then get dropped. I looked there because I would consider them a pretty reasonable benchmark for what would be expected from a SWE at any company that knows what they're doing.

One thing I do like about a company like Google, though, is that getting my foot in the door, even with software, should at least make it easier to switch departments eventually and have a place in hardware. I'm not sure I'd want to work for a software-only company for that reason. My current company is small enough that I get to do both, which I also enjoy―I actually like quite a lot of things about my current job, but I want to leave primarily because they continue to refuse to pay me an amount even slightly appropriate to my position and skillset, after far too long, and I'm not unique in this situation. I'm still with them because our products actually do help make the world a bit better, some of my coworkers are great, I've gotten to dabble in a lot of various skills, the hours are quite flexible, I hate job hunting, the cost of living is low in my area, and it's frighteningly easy for someone fundamentally lazy like me to just stay here, grow old, and die.

how hard would it be to write a script that does something like:

take a *booru character tag (eg hakurei_reimu), counts the total number of hits, counts the number of hits that are tagged explicit vs questionable vs safe, and generates a ratio of the three, known as the "lewdness ratio". the higher the proportion of explicit & questionable vs safe image, the lewder and sluttier the character is. finally an objective, mathematical way to call someone's waifu trash.

Since today is Mother's Day, all family members were decided to go out.
I, however, didn't go because I was embarrassed since I'm 23 years old.
Father, mother, sister, and grandmother went to a restaurant and a karaoke.
I have another sister who lives in Tokyo by herself, but she isn't here.
Well, she must be embarrassed since she's 21 years old.
I went to a horse racing. When I came home, father called me and said
that they're having fun at karaoke and they'll come home after 7pm.

I sang songs, feeling free to be alone. And I felt fun,
I took all my clothes off, and I danced. I copied utopia thing.
I copied tea commercial by Aya Matsuura. Shaking my hips being naked.
I felt fun more and more, and I ran around our house with my penis exposed.
My room is in second floor. I went to downstairs to have some tea.
I was shouting, "Sex! sex! I wanna have sex with her!",
"Cunt, cunt! dick!!", "Sperm! sperm! sperm!",
and there were my sister lives in Tokyo and her boyfriend in living room.
Why!!?? She came home because today is Mother's Day?
Oh I remember, she said she'll come introduce her boyfriend to parents.
That's the end. They saw all of it.
I'm sure she'll tell about it. My life is over. Help me...

It is a year ago that I lost you.
I hope you still watch over me from the heaven.
You were my first girlfriend in my life.
I was so glad to have such a wonderful girlfriend like you. I was really happy.
But everything changed when you were suddenly diagnosed with leukemia.
It was so painful to watch you languishing day by day on the hospital bed.
You sometimes smiled and said "I didn't know that hospital is such a boring place."
Did you know that I was crying behind your back after seeing your weak smile?
I gave my old laptop to you so that you could spend your time on surfing the Internet.
I vividly remember your happy face.
That way, you started the Internet. You especially liked the BBS named "2-channel."
You accessed to the BBS all the day.
One day, you said with your accustomed smile,
"Look! I got a 2-GET again!"
"You shouldn't access to the Internet all the day.
It is bad for your health," I said.
“I know, but look! This 3rd guy says,’2-GET!’
But actually he didn't, you know? It's so funny, isn't it?"
I didn't say anything more. I couldn't, because you looked so happy.
“Look! This 3rd guy is now saying, "Damn!"
He is using funny ASCII art! He is a kind of cute, isn't it?"
I was just silent. Seeing your smile, I felt inexpressibly sad.
Then, she sighed, "I hope he will remember..."
"...I hope he will remember that he was snatched his "2" by someone he had never met.
I hope he will remember it even after I've gone away...
Well, I know it is not likely, but I hope..."
Several months later, he left the world, surrounded by your family and me.
You are not in the world any more.
And now I am clicking the F5 key again and again.
So that the 3rd guy will remember you.
So that he will remember you forever and ever.
Now, together with you in the heaven, I will here engrave:
