Homo Sapien
"axel f" by harold faltermeyer, except it's the crazy frog version and not the original from beverly hills cop.

I could go the rest of my life without everyone constantly creaming about the 90s

I mostly check out some textboards these days because I don't feel like im missing out if I don't check for a couple of days.
I mostly use the 'net to get media now and sometimes read forums, but I don't feel like im missing much anymore especially since everyone is in their discord:
Why do i feel obligated to keep up with black mirror
The episode vipers was ok, doesn't justify the time tho
I have nobody to blame but myself
I remember nothing about black mirror other than some nigger who used his social credit score to get cucked
every single attempt at re-making/re-capturing the twilight zone-esque "sociopolitical commentary couched in episodic sci-fi" thing turns out fucking awful because the original series from the 60s was so well done that all modern imitators can add is "ok but what if the 'nightmare at 20,000 feet'....was RACISm???? WOOOOO how topical and thought provoking! farts, inhales deeply"
also the "sociopolitical commentary" from the original series was more often than not clarke/asimov-esque commentaries on human nature itself and not just ham-fisted commentaries on contemporary american politics that are irrelevant as soon as they air
dokyun should watch good stuff like this

Who watches those family guy compilations on youtube?
Who watches those videos that are just text to speech reading social media?
Why do they have so many views?
saw this ad and thought it was pretty epic

Life is cruel.
was BONE STOOOOOOORM the last truly organically arisen WoW meme? everything since then seems kind of forced by the devs themselves, i cant think of any memorable/memeable lines from any raids since then
>>723 sort of counts? but "kek" is older than the raid BONE STOOOOOOOORM is from, its just that it's become mainstream fairly recently
family guy funny moments

I pirated it. I wanted to know why it ruined that guy's marriage, and hhen i read that there was homo sex
This site has gotten really fast since I've last been here. What happened?
FRIED CHICKEN AND WATERMELON ARIZONA ICED TEA SHRIMP GRITS AND COLLARED GREENS SOUL FOOD RAP MUSIC
>>726 I think the first three series are better, before it was on Netflix. My favourite was the White Bear one, that fucked me up. I took acid a few months later and I think I would have had more fun if I'd never seen that episode.
>>723
Current "kek" didn't come out of the WoW filter, it grew independently. It came out of a corruption of "lel" which was really popular on /sp/. "lel" was in heavy use in the early 2010s which led to various corruptions popping up. Other than "kek," some other variations that never really took were "lil," "lyl," "lal," "jej," "l0ll," "lgl," and "lql." The earliest common use of "kek" can be found on /sp/ if you look through archives around the early 2010 period. The WoW filter association may have contributed to its growth though as people recognized it and adopted it.
>>728 All the DQN lads are on at the same time just by coincidence!
I remember jej had a really bad weird ms paint drawing to go along with it

ses was extremely high quality, but you needed the text to go with it.

Why is it always racism?
There are other social issues to talk about but its always race and sometimes sexuality, i'm honestly very bored of it all.
>>751 Same, I don't follow the storylines, I would hate for people to regard me as a "wrestling fan" - I hate those jabronis and listening to people IRL talk about it makes my skin crawl - but I am fascinated with the art of wrestling and its inner workings. I worked at a game studio making some wrestling games and I gained a lot of useless knowledge about the ins and outs and history of the business. Now I mainly watch deathmatch wrestling
Were people discussing assforce memes just now?!
Yeah, they're awful.
The smarks, the self-admitted marks, etc.
Like gamers nowadays but with less stuff they actually enjoy, I hardly watch because of the embarrassment of admitting I like it because of the stereotypes they have set about fans.
Speaking of dokyun liking pro wrestling, I need a new passion/hobby.
Everything seems to be "dead" or "dying" or on the decline or whatever, from as recent to the 2000s with stuff like gaming to the 1970s with certain spectator sports. Even computing seems to have a very wistful element for old Windows and before the GNU/Linux project got SystemD and all that sort of stuff.
Perhaps this is a sign of the times in general, or just the places I frequent are full of bitter old folk who miss childhood.
The only hobby I haven't seen people say was better in the past is fishkeeping and perhaps model building. I haven't gotten deep into either of those worlds but it makes sense, considering they are about the improvement in technology. Manga fans seem grateful about the ease of reading and finding scanlation, but outside of shonen and certain FOTMs, it doesn't seem like there's many left in the west.
Just once, I would like to get into a hobby or passion or whatever without feeling like I missed out on a lot.
>>762
I know what you mean, I mostly just miss early internet culture and everything connected to it. But there's a lot more to life!
>>762
this is a really obscure and small one but knot tying is better now. paracord and other synthetic cordage is way easier to work with than cotton / jute / manila. you can get some used knot books for like $5-10 each off alibris / abebooks / etc. (or just get the abok)
some other hobbies that are better now than ever:
weight lifting (weights are cheap and the fundamentals are better known)
digital art (especially 3D stuff)
macrame / knitting / crochet: diverse raw materials available for cheap as shit due to global supply chains, tons of free info
cooking (in douglas coupland's novels there's several references to how there was a food revolution in amerikkka in the '80s; food in restaurants got way better but also a lot of stuff (like mushrooms) became available fresh (instead of in cans) in most supermarkets for the first time). trend's obviously been continuing. also, more ethnic markets. i live in the middle of bumfuck, nowhere, and i'm within walking distance of a little chinese market just by chance. cast iron has never been cheaper (thanks xi?) and you can get a sous vide immersion thing for $80 online from a restaurant supply store.
board games. yes it's an extremely NERDY hobby but it is a social hobby
weekend warrior hiking (in many places it is pretty much impossible to get lost as a noob these days)
rock climbing is real big too right now. even in my state there is a gym, and there aren't even any hills within a three hour drive from here (to be fair, climbing sux and i wouldn't recommend it unless you live out west)
>>762 try something physical, boxing or weightlifting or something
the barrier of entry imposed by the bare minimum physical fitness requirements keeps all the worst "undesireable elements" from ruining your hobbies too much.
Now watch me cope (kill it!)

where should i start playing around with audacity, i know nothing about timing or music theory or any of that shit but it often happens to me that i'll be listening to a song and hear a cool drum break or something and think "hmm i bet someone could do something with that"
usually hate my video recommendations, but youtube is recommending a small design-focused documentary about plastic monobloc chairs to everyone who watched a video of the vergil plastic chair DMC5 mod and it's pretty funny.
As someone with a real eyebrow scar (from an ignoble accident), I'm getting really annoyed by people shaving little lines in their eyebrows. Seems like a growing trend.
Letterbox is getting raped by a racist spammer: http://afternoon.dynu.com/letterbox.html
it's both funny and sad that one person can completely ruin a small, slow website.
>>786
at least the admin is cleaning it up periodically
but it's not like the site was really alive...
>>787
It's still sad to see happening to the more relaxed sites like them and /tea/ apparently had a frogspammer for a while. Wonder what these people even get out of it.
I miss HelloChannel

I like dqn but I'd sacrifice it to save HelloChannel in a heartbeat.

Not to my knowledge. I remember emailing the admin years ago. Maybe I can find those emails and see if I can get in contact with him.
