Have you ever read those kinds of articles where someone "infiltrates an enemy group" and writes up a glossary/guide for their "allies", but is full of misunderstandings, mistaken assumptions etc.? I read one recently where a lady on twitter lurked on 8chan for 18 months and wrote a "guide to incels and their jargon", and there were a lot of things that were just kinda more general imageboard culture, but she'd taken them to be "textbook indicators of an incel"
Something about the change in posting styles as of late is making me suspect that DQN is undergoing a userbase shift.

It's a mix of both, I'd say. Textboards also are unique in that they generally have small enough userbases that the slowness keeps them so. So now DQN has 10 users instead of 7.
