Look, for one thing, I gave you credit in the notes of the Mod. Second, I am Sonichu Prime; the one-and-only individual that mod was inspired and made from. Third, Christine is the main owner of our IP and all that.
I get it, I should have talked with you sooner about this, but I had thought things were cool, since this was a non-profit bit of data that was personally updated and made authentic, and as the individual who made the thing, I had thought you would be humbled and honored to have been made famous by our action of sharing your contribution to the communities. But for whatever reasoning that we can resolve to restore this, I am willing to listen. But, dude, in this misconduct after the fact of my own generosity to make the mod better, 1 personally feel rejected, and it really hurts.
Just because you have me credit in the notes doesn't mean you can republish my work. Secondly yes it's your character that I mainly made for a comic dub that was long since cancelled 2 years ago, and it's why I did my own voice acting.. it's authentic to my own project, I have you permission to make your own voice mod which is fine and dandy and you can release the voice mod separate and for those that wish to use it can download it, also. I'm not famous, if I was cool but it'd be on my own accord, and not for a sonichu mod.. but once again having your own voice mod is chill, but when I made it originally it took hours to animate and work on, models, textures. I put all that time and effort in.
[cutoff] Mod, and uploaded them separately from the Mod, people would still need the Mod to put with the files. If it were you, and you did not know where to download the Mod to go with these voice and bio files, it would be just about garbage to you. So, yeah, the mod would have to be there with the voice and bio files. I'll let you ponder and stew over that. What you did will be judged upon you by Chris, herself; what you did was most ungrateful and selfish. (edited)
And to add, no money was being made at all from this. Sonic World is a free to play game, and so are all of the Mods. A Mod should only be reported if the person is actually making any money off of the Mod itself. And a retexture is a retexture; it should not be a freaking matter, because the thing is Free. Why do the handful of people in this dimension have to be so freaking ungrateful and selfish, including you?
It's my project, my model, you don't get to justify texturing, also it's a rule in the sonic world discord server so maybe you should "ponder and stew" for being ungrateful and selfish for not just being satisfied for a mod that was meant for everyone to enjoy- also so people would 'know' you could easily drop my mod link with your voice and bio mod, BAM that's literally okay. And it's not ungrateful or selfish. I didn't have to release the mod at all, a lot of people don't release their mods for this exact reason, people like you will take and repost and others will instantly think you did everything when all you did was change voice files and a bio

I have a hard time believing anyone enjoys the taste of whale.
Avery is traditionally a male given name which was originally an Old English surname that was itself derived from an Old French pronunciation of the name Alfred or the Ancient Germanic name Alberich. The meaning of the name is derived from the Old English words aelf, meaning elf, and ric, meaning king, power.

The social platforms which followed made it easier and easier to package up an individual's complete sellable consumer profile. I really do wish the idle chatter boards of 2ch and futaba could take off in the English speaking world. In the aquatic board I learned that verticle aquariums are regulated and difficult to come by in Japan. I wish it were possible to have so many different idle boards on so many different subjects but this website is testament that it just doesn't work in English.
>Companies used to put a lot of effort into market research to find out personal info on what people liked and disliked
Except they doubled down that effort with shit ton of trackers everywhere. Including the social platforms where people put up their own info.
I think google had something like advertisement settings in your profile that let you see what it had guessed on you.
It's been a long time since I've seen either one but I've been thinking about how in Seven Samurai and all of its Western remakes, one of the plot points is that one of the seven men has a shameful secret about his origins that he keeps hidden from the others until the last possible moment, when it's revealed and the others accept him for it and they all bond over their newfound cohesion.
So, In Seven Samurai, the secret is that the man is not actually a samurai/ronin as he claims, nor does he have any noble blood, he's actually a former bandit who robbed and killed people to make a living. In The Magnificent Seven, the secret is that he's Irish.
DQN, how dare you yoshinoyapost, you are grounded grounded grounded

I finally decided one time that I was going to play it super-safe. That was the first time i made it to the castle, and I got all the way to the Astral plane and was looking for the right altar. Then I accidentally unequipped my ring of free action and got swarmed to death. I quit after that: I saw that at my skill level winning was possible, but far too tedious to be enjoyable. I'd gotten all the fun out that I was going to get without dedicating a few hundred hours of practice first.
I only just now realized after perhaps 15 years that the pseud0ch theme is supposed to represent a chalk board and bulletin board shanging on a brick wall. I just thought "oh, cool colors. bricks. the bricks are comfy."
Are you sure? To me it always looked a bit like a bunch of paper sheets glued to a wall, as if someone was putting up posters to advertise in some rundown back alley. Both interpretations leave the green rules section on top without a good explanation.
gaynus
>>469
The green boxes are chalk boards as I said earlier, the grey boxes are the bulletin boards as you are describing
Ah, I completely forgot that green chalkboards exist. I guess the specific light shade of green was chosen based on the "web-safe color" standards of the time, since chalkboards are usually darker.
It's sort of an inside-a-school feeling then isn't it? Maybe that's a preferable mental image to us all gluing shitposts to the walls of a dirty alleyway.
>>472
In the earlier japanese sites like ayashi world or whatever the green was much darker (and the text was white, wasn't it?). The green was kept when 2ch and others came around, but was made lighter for visibility reasons. I think most people have forgotten the metaphor of the bulletin board when they visit a bbs nowadays, since "board" has become so synonymous with "forum".

Ayashii world looks exactly like a chalkboard. Thanks, I never would have made a connection between that and pseud0ch myself.
It's interesting how what were once metaphors to help people understand new technologies have resulted into the words used developing into polysemes. Someday dictionaries will have "an internet forum" under the definition for board and the original metaphor will become an obscure detail for etymologists to study, rather than common knowledge. Maybe that's already happened, considering that we're having this discussion.

If image search and school anime (at least Nichijou in HD has this level of detail) are anything to go by, typical Japanese meatspace bulletin boards (掲示板), whether in- or out-doors, use a green sheet material and the papers are secured by pins. Presumably these are whereof the skeuomorph, though I can't deny that white text on green background better resembles a chalkboard by far.
I am unable to determine which material for the sheets is most common, as it appears a variety are in use. I also do not live in Japan to conveniently determine an n=1 sample.

I have a List of "important" things to do. It's not completely comprehensive, but it includes things like taxes, car maintenance, small projects, stuff for other people, etc. It has grown and shrunk over time as I've added and completed tasks. However, there are some items that have sat there entirely too long and I'm sick of thinking about them. Right now my List has 13 things on it, and that's the smallest it's been since I started it―and while I'm happy about that, my ideal would be for it to be empty most of the time, with room for maybe 5 things at most. This, of course, would require me to suppress my procrastinatory habits at least a bit more.
One such habit I have is shopping online. Not buying, just shopping. As a result of reaching a financial goal I currently have enough saved up that I could treat myself to something quite nice, but I guess getting to that point was enabled by adopting a strategy of "buy absolutely nothing unnecessary" and it's hard to moderate that, plus I spent a lot of time when I didn't have money shopping and wishing but unable to execute. Also it's hard to choose sometimes.
I think I'd like to try a push. I knock out every item on my List, to prove to myself I can actually empty it. And I do no online shopping until that's done, at which point I force myself to buy something nice as both a treat and a defiant gesture to my unhealthy habits. Not that I want to start a new habit of spending excessively, but I want to get away from wishing so much and live in the present more. And maybe getting rid of these small tasks will help me get ready to work on bigger ones.
>>497
Yeah, Nintendo and I would even add Sony have been real disappointing with their "retro" tech. The NES mini is a joke, doesn't support real controllers or real cartridges, nor are its parts backwards compatible. I never was on segas dick back in the day but I think the genesis mini is a legit system with backwards and forwards compatibility, and they even went out and developed controllers for consoles that don't even have a retro mini version. Don't know much about PC engine games but I'm glad they're getting a taste of that quality as well.
>>500
Dunno if it's much help, but for things that I'm doing for fun I've found that it's a lot easier to keep several balls in the air than to do them one at a time according to some checklist or schedule (which often ends up with nothing getting done). It helps with getting started too, when I know I don't necessarily have to finish whatever I'm starting before moving on to something else. It took me until recently to figure this out, too...
For "important" things (outside of stuff I'm doing with others or otherwise critical tasks), though, I still haven't figured it out. I'm technically procrastinating on them by writing this...

You could try a BSD if you're the type that gets angry at modern computing, most of them use OpenBSD if you read their email chains. I think the biggest thing about modern computing is that you should find what use case you have and just use the OS that works the best for that. Of course, if you want to customize GNU/Linux and get angry at modern computing the best option is either Artix or Gentoo because I doubt you like SystemD.
Again, unless you're an Amiga or OS/2 loyalist in which you have MorphOS or AmigaOS and ArcaOS, you should look into some of the Unix OSes.

My experience with KDE was my manager being obsessed with it around 2012-2014. Every time I had to use it was an absolute chore because the UI was so hostile. They had lots of cool ideas and fancy features and bling, but it didn't matter to me because they couldn't get the basics down.
I run Ubuntu Mate because deep in my heart I'm still convinced 10.04 with GNOME2 was the best, in the same way Snow Leopard was the best. I hear GNOME3 isn't as awful as it used to be, but I haven't been in the mood to give it a chance at any point in the last 5 years.
why do people describe character as "decent human being" instead of "good person"? it probably is nothing and is just a trend in language though
I have been told that MATE is all nostalgia, but it looks lightweight and utilitarian, I have run ubuntu mate for a bit but because of my distro hopping during my GNU/Linux phase I never really sunk my teeth into it.
GNOME is not worth the time, even with all the improvements is not worth the time solely because of the performance. Even the cute GNOME flashback is very heavy for a GNU/Linux DE.

I get it. Their hearts are in the right place from what I can tell but it "human being" just doesn't sound right.
>>567
Nah m8, they're calling you a robot for having your own ideas and therefore not getting with the program.
If it's about my thought about police officers, I didn't think too much about it, “decent human being” is just what came to hand, but “a good person” feels a bit different from what I was trying to say, a different kind of weight idk. Now I think a bit more about it, I do see a distinction, from my experience of dealing with cops, the way they see themselves and how they talk about civilians and perps, and all the videos I've seen of how american pigs deal with unarmed criminals, innocent victims, peaceful protesters and the like, it does seem all seem pretty inhumane. It seems some of it is deliberate too, how uniforms are designed, how people are profiled for getting stopped and frisked on the street and things. It seems like the system is deliberately designed to create this dehumanising divide between “the people” and “the state” too, and these neanderthals are employed to enforce the state's power, rather than to serve their fellow human beings. Or something, this sounds like I'm more passionate about the issue than I really am, I have mixed feelings about it. At the end of the day I just try to laugh. They're like cowboys!
>>568 lol wut no way wtf? That makes no sense
>this sounds like I'm more passionate about the issue than I really am
You're pretty passionate if you wrote a paragraph about police and the abstract system created around it in response to a simple question about a language trend.
It's not a language trend though, “decent human being” is basically a synonym for “good person”, but I expounded on why that would be the first term that came to mind in the context, which is where the question came from. It's not that I'm passionate about the police issue but I'll admit I can be passionate about language discussion. Then again, in a current thoughts thread I can fart out a paragraph about my thoughts no problem!
The nicest policemen I've met were the ones who arrested me when I went to jail. They were so warm and friendly and polite. Living as a saint before then, every police officer I met was a bastard for no reason. That's fucked up

>>606 That's what I meant was weird, to me it doesn't have either of those connotations, it's odd to me that you see it as even close to the kind of tone of "homo sapien of fair integrity and uprightness". I guess it's one of those things, sometimes you can read into a person's word choice to get an idea of the kind of person they are from how they convey ideas, but sometimes you're applying your own sort of linguistic bias, assuming that everyone uses language the same way, and finding things that aren't there
How many English classes around the world every year have kids saying "Miss, did he really mean that?" when they do close reading. I can see both sides

I often had/have this trouble with classics.
Case 1: the words and phrases that are easily judged as meaning the opposite (irony/sarcasm) by people from one decade can be confusingly ambiguous in another. The use of such is an integral part of English (in particular, but not exclusively) over the centuries, but the ways we say it are like slang that goes in and out of fashion.
Case 2: it's not always clear just from reading whether it's the character's, author's, or generation's view(s) that is causing you to question the sincerity/irony of what was stated. Like, it's so much simpler to understand someone's point if you know what else they believe and the context of those beliefs (ideologies, factions, mores).

Classical Persian poetry is full of this. A lot of factors contribute to this, but one of the biggest is poets intentionally using various ambiguities of the language as poetic devices. The introduction of Islam clashing with incompatible pre-Islamic cultural practices also adds another layer on top of that. There are bitter debates to this day over whether certain things (wine consumption) are purely metaphorical or reflective of the poet's life and habits.

> KEITH REINHARD, Chairman, DDB Worldwide: The campaign for iPod is remarkable. When I see the poster as I'm passing by, when I go on the Web site and it comes to life and I hear the music track going, and then when I put my little iPod ear-pods on and I see the white cords against my black jacket, I'm in that poster, and the poster is me! And then the music, my music, comes over my iPod, and it's a brand experience.
I think that might be illustrative enough? (The man was an marketing industry leader, not the sucker he's roleplaying.) Mass marketees really are that manipulable and make decisions on unmet emotional needs, often only coming up with a reason for it if pressed. Mass marketees really are kinda neutral to real technicals and outperforming their current spoobnumby (which is easy enough to dudge as it is). For many people today, brands replace a psychological role / timesink / money-pit that many people used to spend on religion and cheap thrills.
The quote is from when PBS put out a Frontline episode "The Persuaders" about marketing and advertising that showed those guys were way ahead of the curve on trusting in behavioral psychology. I wonder if it's a little too redpilling to be made today.

Hmm, so I just found out in Spanish the word for goat, "cabron" can be used as an insult or as a boastful word for "greatest", much like in English "he's shit" vs "he's the shit". And now I'm thinking that the phrase "he's the GOAT" for "greatest of all time" is actually just a backronym of what was once just Spanglish. But I have no way of proving this.
What?? All this time I thought cabron meant bastard
4. Cabrón. While the literal translation of 'cabrón' is a male goat, its slang meaning is somewhat ruder. It generally translates to 'asshole', 'fucker' or 'bitch'.
> Johnny Sins?, is that the bald-headed nigga from Brazzers?
lel
> There's also a third meaning, very common by the way, and it's used to refer to someone who is really good at something specific, for example:
>> Ese wey es muy cabrón jugando fútbol (that guy is so good at playing soccer)
In this way it's sort of like mofo too.

I would be curious to read more by the author but I can't find where the supposed "main blog" is. Maybe somebody here knows.
>>707
I use it when applicable, but that's rare now because companies or entirely nameless/faceless administration don't fit the bill in my opinion and that's what runs the vast majority of websites.
The only things run by independent people nowadays are IRC or game servers, not on the web. Or I guess people who just create a "server" on discord but you're not a true master of that portion of the WWW that way.
>>710
I'm not the author, but I host the website for my friend. I'm actually surprised anybody read it. It was originally a blog that posted once every day, it was far more surprising when you couldn't just click through all the chapters at once. I don't want to link it or the author because I don't really come here to post with my identity, but I appreciate the kind words, I'll pass them along his way. He doesn't really have any public art, he just shares it among his friends.
>>707
I used it here a while back thinking very specifically of the kind of site you see around, especially in Japan if you click enough links away from an older doujin circle's site, that once had aspirations and posted stuff, but hasn't had an update since like 2012. Which was the first update since 2007.
Things from doujin circles are one of the few things I feel guilty about pirating. That and indie wrestling.
When people spell out the N-word one letter at a time through a comment chain, who bears responsibility? Do some letters bear more responsibility than others?
Let's say you're a moderator and need to decide who to ban. There's no rule against posting single letters, but there is a rule against spelling out racial slurs. So do you just ban the person who posted 'R'? But by the time you get to 'E' there's no other word in the English dictionary that could possibly be spelled, so maybe you should ban 'E' as well. Or maybe you should just ban everybody?
I feel like there should be some analogous ethical dilemma, akin to the trolley problem.
>>716
When I would group shitpost like that on IRC back in the day a mod would corral us into a private room and make us do a challenge like spelling out a word or counting and would ban us all if we couldn't. I think that's the best option

An unfortunate amount of conservation makes poster children out of species that deserve to be extinct while overlooking more important, but less "cute" or "cool" ones. There aren't any more phorusrhacids or entelodonts either, but you can't pin that on humans nor on any apocalyptic event. They just couldn't hack it against other species. There's reason to be concerned about what's happening to the environment but species extinction alone is a natural, ongoing process that's been going on for several billion years before our existence.
>>803
Pandas are only being saved because they're charismatic symbols of China. They don't give a shit about the other megafauna like the Baiji, Rhinos, Paddlefish, Newts, etc and thats just what independent scientists could find out. If you want to try something new to serve with delicate white fleshed fish like sea bass, cod, halibut, etc.try this puree. Take approximately 1 inch rutabaga cubes and smoke them using cinnamon fragments and pistachio shell. Let sit overnight then cook in saffron-infused milk and puree it. If you have a high powered blender (>1 hp motor) just puree till smooth. Otherwise puree as well as possible and pass it through a fine mesh strainer.
You can do the smoking on your stovetop if you have a dutch oven or large pot with a tight fitting lid. Just make a flat packet of foil with your smoking fuel in it and perforate the top of the packet the tip of a knife. Put that on the bottom of the pot and put the cubes on a rack or similar inside the pot. Leave the lid cracked and heat on medium high till you see the first wisps of smoke then close the lid and let it go for a 5 or so minutes then lower it to low to medium-low for another 10 minutes then turn off the heat. Let it sit for a while so the smoke to mostly settles and you're done. This method is good for quick smoking a lot of stuff.

SE answer is slightly incomplete. Most archaisms in modern Japanese are read aloud as written and adjective conjugations fall under that, so that part is well and good because they were talking about a song.
But occasionally, words are written in historical spelling for the same effect but are read aloud with modern pronunciation because it's also historical pronunciation. E.g. 思ひ出 as omoide; from about mid-Heian this ひ represented a wi sound as a conjugation of ふ u verbs, and around Kamakura wi and i merged into i.
Unfortunately, it takes a little familiarity with old text to know which is right in any given case (but only a little, は/わ-row fuckery + the au → ou shift covers most of what I've seen). Fortunately, the exceptions are rarer in modern artistic expression than the "just read it as is" cases.

Ah, you're right, I had mixed up hol with the other remnants of hal (heal, hail, holy, etc) which lack the w, and made the assumption that hole was from the same root. However, the wh disambiguation is commonly accepted, it is not likely that any dialect pronounced it with the /hw/ sound in older pronunciations of "what" and "wheat" and so on, this doesn't survive in other instances of /h/ initial words and other dialects wrote it as hole even after the w was adopted.
With regards to height, do you mean the vowel shift in writing only or the irregular -t in place of -th? I can think of some other words which descend from a historical -th, such as theft. The vowel shift is unusual, I think the e was added as an analogy to other -th words which had historical umlauts.
>like one of those Americans who have existential crises because they went to Paris and found out that rather than some pristine ancient city of culture and legend it was just a normal fucking city where normal people live(and a far from "pristine" one at that).
When I went to England, I had Paris Syndrom about London, not because of that but because of how dirty and trashy it and some of the people were.
Bournemouth and Manchester were cool though.

that's not paris syndrome, that's a perfectly normal reaction to seeing engl*nd up close

Nintendo has an EA/Activision style racket going on of making the same games over and over but doesnt get nearly as much hate
>>896 the pronunciation it supposedly represents is "wole", rather. And in those days there were people writing "woſe" for "whose", for example, as if they didn't really get what the wh's everyone else was using are for. However, it's true that the supporting evidence is iffy. Most instances of "wole" on Google Books from that time (that definitely mean "whole" and not "would") are apparent typos, which kinda makes it poor evidence of being the typesetter's opinion on Orthographie. There were "hole" holdouts well into the 17th c.
I mean irregular -t; there are definitely people around today who still say "heighth" and aren't being hypercorrective. As for the vowel, OE/ME writers apparently had no goddamn idea so neither do I.

What always bothered me is that there is someone making money from drawing interracial cuckolding comics of archie of all things
No touching Daddy's nonos without permission.
>>907
It doesnt bother me that interracial cuckolding exists. Its a fetish and everyone knows about John Persons. Its that theres an audience for Archie cuckolding that pay handsomely for it.

I left the TV on after wrestling and discovered a political talk show centered around basketball, I think? "A new storytelling franchise created to provide a thought-provoking forum for content on topics occurring on and off the court of play."
Its bizarre to see a show talking about police reform and basketball in the same breath, theres are really obvious jokes to make here about blacks, but this really showed me that norms really overvalue athletes.

Is it really pizza? It looks computer generated.
I'm listening to a podcast about the internal racism inside the youtube bon appetite channel and it's so funny, I can't relate to this world in the slightest.
supposedly the reason the guy that ran the joint got removed was because he did "brownface" on his personal Instagram, but when I saw the picture, I thought he just visited a tanning booth.
I want to archive more. I need to archive more.

How the fuck am I supposed to know if it's real when you act like it isn't real? How am I supposed to follow these games? How can our eyes be real if mirrors are not?!

Bon Appetit never resonated with me. It seemed like their focus was on producing personalities rather than culinary content. I watched a few of their videos, and they were fine, but the food definitely seemed like an afterthought to the wacky personalities they were trying to cultivate

Maybe I'm just old, but podcasts that are meant to be cinematic and tell a story rather than just be internet talk radio always come off as corny to me.
>the internal racism inside the youtube bon appetite channel and it's so funny, I can't relate to this world in the slightest.
The one that made me laugh because of that was saying that US schools are shitty because of the hidden racism of "White Parents" as if there aren't a bunch of tangible reasons why public schools suck ass.

The kana come from brushwork and not reeds/quills, so make confident curves, stops, turns, subtle lifts etc. and not lines with well defined thicks and thins; it is proper to think of it as a 3D motion.
If you are a beginner to good penmanship in the first place, work more on getting precise, gentle motion out of your arm and get the wrist and fingers to flow within that framework, rather than strain the fingers. Don't expect to git gud at this in a mere fortnight; you might need to start with 1 or 2 inch rule and proceed slowly with cursive drills (this is fine). But it's not a skill you are likely to lose (entirely) once learned.

Oh yeah I just remembered that the host of Reply All, the podcast that is doing the series on how Bon Appetit was a toxic and racist workplace has also come under fire for being racist and fostering a toxic workplace. Can't make this shit up.
