I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Shinto,
is in fact, Shinbutsu shuugo, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Shinto plus Buddhism.
Shinto is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning Buddhist system made useful by the Buddhist terminology, cosmology
and soteriology comprising a full religion as defined by Amidabutsu.
Many worshipers run a modified version of the Buddhist system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Buddhism
which is widely used today is often called "Shinto", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the Buddhist system, developed by the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama.
There really is a Shinto, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Shinto is the theology: the aspect of the system
that allocates the faith of the masses to replenish the positive karma of the native Kami.
The theology is an essential part of a religion, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Shinto is
normally used in combination with the Buddhist operating system: the whole system
is basically Buddhism with Shinto added, or Shinbutsu shuugo. All the so-called "Shinto"
distributions are really distributions of Shinbutsu shuugo.

I had a dream I was with a girl and she had a phrase tattooed on her back and it's like the sort of thing that would be significant in a movie, some sort of omen written on her back that gets the plot going, but I don't think you can actually recall most text you read in your dreams in real life, so I don't know what it said and I feel like I missed something.

How does one determine if an album is self titled or untitled?
>>115
If the album is released in the United States of America, the record label will (hopefully) register their copyright for it with the U.S. Copyright Office. They will do so with the "Group Registration of Published Musical Works" procedure unless they would rather pay the filing fee for each individual song. The application form for this procedure will ask them to list a title for the album, which is then its title as far as the U.S. government is concerned, even if the packaging refrains from communicating this regrettable fact to the hoi polloi.
Additionally, the record label itself, distributors, retailers, etc. will probably assign an internal title for its own paper pushing purposes.
Its weird to think that in non-human organisms, malice is a sign of high intelligence
can't believe that everyone and everything i love and care about including myself will eventually return to the dust from whence it was formed, this is so sad can we get an f in the chat
4kidz touhou be like: remmy huckleberry and marissa mist
everything I love and care about has already returned to the dust from whence it was formed, now I am just waiting for myself.
>>117
Yeah I thought about it in the context of kids learning to lie as a marker of intellectual development. Malice requires enough abstraction to understand the self, what would consist of a reward for the self, probably some amount of object permanence and a means to distinguish consequence in the future. It sounds like a very complex cognitive process. I guess cognition implies enacting suffering on each other.
With true intelligence comes indifference. You know everything will burn 1000000 years from now on, so nothing really matters.

>>122 True intelligence knows that one isn't going to live 1000000 years, and can do things to make what ever time one has the most fun it can be
Intelligence is a sliding scale from unrestricted malice to autistic existential depression.
The current thoughts thread is generally the outpouring of the things that dqn should keep locked up inside their head.
Would any DQN be interested in a web-based AA editor? AA posting has been on a decline here for a while now, so I'm not sure if anyone here would actually end up using it.
>>127
Not sure if "web-based" is the magic word, but something new and up to date would be nice...
>>127 I believe most of it is cribbed from Japanese sources in the first place, and there it has also been on the decline
>>128
"Web-based" because I suspect most are too lazy to install AA editors and run them with Japanese locale. As for up to date, there's plenty of good tools floating around, though none of them are translated.

Someone is posting videos of bullfighters piercing a bull's brain to swiftly kill them after they've been subdued on twitter, I guess with the intent of making the viewer realize that it's a brutal sport for bulls or something, but I just thought that watching the bull seize for a few seconds when the knife starts scrambling its brain was kinda cool.

oh shit i didn't see this before i started talking shit about QR codes in the other thread
my beef with QR codes is that 99% of the usage is for URLs and OCR technology is such that URLs can be scanned just as easily, so the only purpose a QR code serves is to obfuscate the URL so that humans can't read it. I know that's the whole point, but I hate it.
I hope Mr. Wikipedia Dick doesn't come and dick me down, that would really be awful
OCR is still an absolute pile of shit when it comes to disambiguating certain character classes after all these years. I don't think that's getting fixed anytime soon.

a shortened URL absolutely takes up less space than one of those QR codes. literally the whole point of URL shorteners is to make URLs more human-usable, and we're talking about human use. why wouldn't we use them here?
>>159
It's not, but regardless, also easily fixed by URL shortening. This has even already been done by some URL shorteners. My own employer, for example, has an URL shortener that shortens everything 'employer.com/123456789' (some number). Easily read by OCR.
>>168 Idk, a standardised small box that's like gpoint your phone here to get more informationh seems more useful than another line of text in beside all the other text. And most url shorteners make the url a string of numbers/letters, which is less human-usable?
