I know writers who use subtext, and they're all cowards. Okay? What I was asking in that scene is "What if Gregor Samsa turned into a disgusting insect? Could he literally get out of bed?" And no one's asked that before.

Certain AA characters semi-consistently receive head brackets of a certain width, Giko for example almost always has half-width brackets. You can even kind of see this in the Ascii board banner.
If you google around for screenshots of S_JIS art, the ones using Mona/IPAMonaPGothic usually have the head bracket width convention (actually, differences in Greek characters aside, this is the main way to tell what font was used).
Also, there is a general trend to not use half-width and full-width brackets together in places where you would expect symmetric pairs. Very few AA break this, at least of those I've (not very thoroughly) looked through.

Other than that, some character choices make a bit more sense when looked at with Mona. Check out >>81 in the "OH NO!" thread. The mouth "(二)" on C looks quite a bit rounder and better connected with the Mona-style half-width brackets, while the MS PGothic style half-width brackets are a bit too tall. Unrelated to the parentheses issue, but in that same thread the hanging AA in >>52 uses ‖ for the rope. The ‖ character is vertical in Mona and IPAMonaPGothic while being slanted in (at least modern versions of) MS PGothic. I've seen this same AA show up in some AA flash, and the rope was properly vertical there too. The ‖ difference (which can also be seen in >>51) indicates to me more than anything that at least some AA artists were making their AA primarily for Mona (or that MS PGothic changed that specific glyph at some point in more recent years).

I had some better examples earlier but fuck I can't be assed to look for them now. These sort of tiny differences are irrelevant to 99% of AA anyways.

80% of americans are obese or overweight, rates of autism have increased from 1:10,000 in 1970 to 1:50 in 2020, we've seen a meteoric rise in chronic diseases and metabolic and inflammatory diseases of all kinds in the past decades. I've seen a compelling theory (but it is just a theory) that one driver of celiac isn't gluten itself but gluten that's been mistakenly folded with glyphosphate instead of glycine by the wheat plant.

What I don't understand is the mockery, people act like a supposed wonder-chemical has never before been proven after its introduction and widespread use to have harmful health effects. I'm sure the first guy who said that asbestos or CFCs were bad got called a schizo too.

There is a timeline where YIIK already has a well received reboot after the astonishing disaster released in 2019. Dante Alighieri comes across as an autistic fanfic writer in the divine comedy, with his favorite poets reacting to his literal self-insert the way they did and his obsession with Florentine politics when he was in hell.
More contemporarily, Muhammad Ali Jinnah was so obsessed with Pakistan that it literally killed him due to his neglect of health

Some people are heroes for sacrificing their dreams. Others are heroes for following their dreams when maybe they shouldn't have.

As for me, I've given up on being an hero.
