a shortened URL absolutely takes up less space than one of those QR codes. literally the whole point of URL shorteners is to make URLs more human-usable, and we're talking about human use. why wouldn't we use them here?

>>159
It's not, but regardless, also easily fixed by URL shortening. This has even already been done by some URL shorteners. My own employer, for example, has an URL shortener that shortens everything 'employer.com/123456789' (some number). Easily read by OCR.

170 Name: ((●)トェェェイ(●)) : 1993-09-10329 19:24

>>168 Idk, a standardised small box that's like “point your phone here to get more information” seems more useful than another line of text in beside all the other text. And most url shorteners make the url a string of numbers/letters, which is less human-usable?

171 Name: ((●)トェェェイ(●)) : 1993-09-10329 21:23

>>170 if you have a phone, they're both exactly the same level of human-usable. point your phone camera at the URL or QR code, it scans and takes to you the URL. If you don't have a phone, a QR code is completely useless, but an URL is not. there's literally no drawback.

I just realized how human the language used for ant colonies. "Workers" "Soldiers" "The Queen". It seems so obvious to me now but it took me far too long to see the projection of human society onto ant colonies when a lot of insect terms are not like that.

I presume that the biggest use case for QRs is not to scan stuff on your phone, but for dedicated low power embedded devices to read stuff as fast and with as little ambiguity as possible for logistics, fulfillments, supply chain management, etc. Scanning URLs from physical mediums is just a nice extra and something not a lot of people do at any rate.

186 Name: ((●)トェェェイ(●)) : 1993-09-10330 23:08

>>185 it clearly makes sense in industrial applications i just think it's awful that every laundry machine, restaurant, and vaccination site (the three actual examples in my life, affecting literally everyone i know) has adopted them since covid started. so if you count 'number of qr codes scanned', the number one user is probably amazon, federal express, or toyota, sure, and there's no problem with that. but if it's 'number of people using qr codes' then probably the #1 user is restaurants or some other public-facing application now.

i honestly just don't believe you. even flight-boarding smartphone apps for use with the dedicated scanners at airline check-in gates blast the backlight on your phone because light is an issue.

How To Install Windows 95 in PCem (486 emulator) (2018, best way!) (ISO in desc)

PCem and x86Box seem to be the best options, virtualbox doesn't work with pallete output very well (wasn't made for that, it will work, but it will be slower until you install proper drivers or something that supports 32 bit color), vmware is neat but got bugged for me for some reason, dosbox didn't work either, and I got bored of the idea before getting to PCem.

I can't help but feel that every OS is getting uglier and uglier and less and less usable with each new version.
Windows 11 looks like shit and is a downgrade from Windows 10 in almost every regard (with the exception of maybe WSLg, which as of right now is more of a fancy tech demo than something actually usable).
I've heard nothing good about recent MacOS versions.
And virtually every Linux DE designed for normal people is in a state of decay, both the inconsistent UIs and poorly maintained, bloated codebases. If you're autistic and use a tiling WM you spent 10000 hours configuring, you're probably unaffected.

I suspect that we're soon to reach a point where the combined lack of vision in the tech industry and the increasingly unmaintainable code of all current operating systems will result in some new corporation coming in and shitting out the OS of the future, complete with even more tracking and restrictions. Probably Google.

only 1% of sperm would get to the destination, unless penis had a sucking in function somehow. This sucking organ would've been 5 times bigger than male balls, and would've been unactive for the most of human's lifetime, just taking space. Just terribly unefficient all around. You would need a way to clean it of sucked in dust or something like that, this means extra excretions. Plus sperm needs a temperature a bit lower than the rest of the body, this means this female would still need balls and would still need the channel to deliver sperm from balls into the sucking penis. If you go that far, might as well just deliver all the way into the female's body. It is probably possible to have semen production without balls, but resulting semen probably wouldn't be able to move as freely or something, human body probably has its temperature for a reason, to kill as much of alien organisms that try to get inside as possible.

Male sperm and female sperm have to meet each other inside, this is why you need to flood it like that.. I wonder why there is usually only one female sperm at the time. Maybe specifically to avoid the twin situation?

How many people here use Mona font or IPAMonaPGothic for viewing S_JIS art as compared to MS PGothic?
Mona-derived fonts have different glyphs for half-width and full-width parentheses. With MS PGothic at 16px, in "((" both brackets have the same shape but differing widths, while in Mona and related, the half-width bracket has a visually shorter glyph. Some S_JIS art takes the difference between the types of brackets into account (and was probably made by Mona users) while other AA does not (and was probably made by MS PGothic users).

In a hypothetical AA webfont, which variant would you prefer? Or is this a difference that no one alive other than me gives a shit about?

a horrifying idea, it's not a pathetic latin alphabet with like 80 characters, those are heavy.

I used to think the "waifus blacked" thing was a joke based off the old VRChat meme event and "built for bbc"-type shitposting but some of the editing is so extensive I'm starting to think its an actual fetish and I dont know if that makes it funnier or just sad

Hiding of ID when you sage feels weird, why it works like that. It's kind of inconvenient for everyone.

Every imageboard or textboard I know of suck each in a different way. This here is one of the better places.
