In the end, just as he is about to reach his goal, he is done in by the schemings of a treacherous religious order who've infiltrated the financial sector of all major powers in an attempt to reclaim what they believe is their "holy land".

I have three guesses: they use flecktarn-painted uniform made in the same style as US army fatigues, they adopted this acronym from English for "uniform", they made a similar abbreviation but it has to do with the Bundeswehr.

All in all, Germans love composite words and abbreviations, I mean, who else in the world calls a lorry "LKW"?

Stop me if you think this is stupid, but Homer and Marge hire Shaggy and Scooby to investigate strange sounds from Lisa's immolated room after an attack by Arnold (of Hey Arnold fame). While checking the room out, they spot an egg sack pulsating. It bursts open giving birth to deformed Lisa Simpson babies and releasing a psychedelic spore that only affects primates. Shaggy starts hallucinating and eventually sees the Smurfs, one of which claims to be Krishna.

Picture this. A bunch of cute girls break into your house while you're still asleep, find you, and pin you to the bed, one holding down each limb. Then one climbs up and cuddles you. I don't mean a half-hearted arms-wrapped-loosely-around-midriff affair, I mean a full on ribcage squeezing, with snuggling, head nuzzling under chin, whispering sweet nothings and making warm affirmative humming noises. Once her arms get tired, she swaps places with one of her associates. This goes on for some time.

Days pass. They feed you, give you water, change your bedpan and so on as necessary, but never let up the cuddling for more than five seconds at a time. You fall asleep cuddled and wake up cuddled. You lose track of time. Your mind goes fuzzy and you begin to forget what life was like before. Finally, months later, they let you go. Your muscles have atrophied. You are covered in bedsores. You cannot even stand unaided. You have been cuddled so hard and for so long that your life is forever changed by it.

This is how much cuddling I would need to feel okay. That's how lonely I am.

Although I'm sympathetic to liberal opinions on immigration in terms of policy, I don't like the way a lot of liberals support it. ``Hell yeah, I'll take a taco truck on every corner!" as if there are only benefits and no downsides. By refusing to acknowledge that there is a tradeoff, you make it impossible to appeal to the people that are on one side of it. Because you can't look a poor American in the eye and say, ``You may suffer from job losses and increased crime, but their suffering is greater," you can't say anything.

You might want to limit yourself to the most popular calibres with good weight/effective power ratio since you would want to carry more. Guns that you don't use will be a dead weight on you. I wouldn't buy a new gun unless it's to arm a friend or a family member in case of emergency... or it is a gun of my dreams.

I already have 3 of the most common (9mm, 12ga, and 7.62x39), but I'm still missing 5.56 and .22lr to cover all the bases. I'd kill for a FAL even though 7.62 NATO is pretty rare.

But yeah arming others is the idea.

412 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8447 11:32

>>411 I met many people with the Smith and Wesson M&P15, it is a low cost but very reliable AR15 in 5.56
They also make the M&P10 which is an AR10 in .308/7.62x51

I don't know where to get an FAL.

PTR Industries makes a gun from the same era as the FAL. 308/7.62x51 is an option.

For 22LR, avoid the current Marlin 60. Some investment firm bought Marlin and Remington, then decided to cheapen the product quality for a quick buck. The Ruger 10/22 is worth the higher price.

Not really, since AEK-971/A-545 is very uncommon in the army. The laws are strict here, no short barrels, no automatic weapons are allowed for civilians. At best it's either a non-lethal pistol or smooth-bore shotgun after getting a licence. Licence for rifles requires 5 years of smooth-bore ownership.

Secondly, you should take yourself a little more time to read the posts you are responding to. Yours is an unnecessary overreaction that leaves me with no more than two possibilities about the kind of person you are:

  1. You are defensive about your lifestyle and feel the need to validate yourself at any given opportunity, or in response to anything not in vehement agreement with your views.

DQN Guide to Making a Cool Halloween Gift
October 19, 2016
Halloween can be a hectic time of the year for your average user of the BBS website 4-ch.net/dqn. Finding gifts for your fellow DQNs can be quite the hassle. This year, save yourself the trouble and follow this easy step by step guide to making a Cool Halloween Gift.
  1. Find an image of your favorite anime character.
  2. I chose Momo for mine (VOΚOV)
  3. Write down your holiday feelings.
  4. When I think of Halloween, I think of ghouls and goblins. Most people might be afraid of this time of year, but I embrace the scariness. When people ask me "Trick or Treat?", I always get a kick out of their reactions when I say "trick" („zΝ„z)ΖΤΖΤ. Of course, I always remember to be practical with my tricks and never hurt anybody. I wish everyone a safe and scary Halloween!
  5. Find some stamps and emojis
  6. You can choose from my set of stamps and emojis here
  7. Make a collage!
  8. Although you are free to be creative, here are some good tips to get you started:
    • Place your anime character in the center of your collage
    • Place your holiday feelings somewhere below your favorite anime character
    • Draw a cute border around your image (you can even add more pictures of your favorite anime character!)
    • Try not to overwhelm your viewer with too many stamps, but also try not to leave too much blank space either
  9. Send your gift as a reply a on DQN
  10. E.g. Hey >>1! I liked your post, and wanted to give you thisR(*LƒΦM*)) as a token of my gratitude
That's all there is to it. Have a happy Halloween!!

Unpopular opinion: ISIS is a natural consequence of the national borders in the middle east being drawn with a pencil and a ruler by some British and French fuckheads 1000km away from the ground forcing people who hate each other to live in the same country and splitting up the same people across multiple countries. The solution is to just let them do their thing and kill each other until they find a border that works for everyone or until everyone is dead.

548 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8453 02:08

No, colonial adventures are the cause of those anti white man sentiment in the West. Or ideas like "decolonisation of science" as witnessed by a recent video from "safe space" in some SA uni.

ISIS, however, is, just as >>548 said, a consequence of America being a meddlesome piece of shit. They had sectarian violence over whoever is real successor of the prophet centuries ago. ISIS, however, follows their how-to book literally - and no, you don't want to let them do their thing, because they will use their victory to promote following the book to a word across the Muslim world.

And stop trying to shift the blame to some other country, Arab spring and it's consequences are America's fault.

>>551 if insisting that people look at the bigger picture rather than tunnel vision the past 15 years is "shifting the blame" then sure. I have no idea what you are even talking about in the first sentence but it seems largely irrelevant so I am just going to ignore it.

>They had sectarian violence over whoever is real successor of the prophet centuries ago.

Not just in Iraq but across the middle east national borders are all kinds of fucked up and it's directly traceable to the legacy of western colonialism. Sunnis and Shiites who've spent the past 14 centuries murdering the shit out of each other were suddenly forced to cooexist as "Iraqis", meanwhile 30 million Kurds were split up between 4 different countries.

I'm not particularly making a value judgement against colonialism there. But when there was a strong, central authority like the British or Saddam or the Americans there to force all these disparate people who fucking hate each other to stop blowing themselves up for a bit it might have been peaceful but as soon as that strong authority left, so did the peace. If it hadn't been ISIS it would have been someone else, and even if you destroy ISIS it'll just be someone else in a few more years as long as that power vacuum isn't filled.

As long as people who want nothing to do with each other are forced to exist under the same artificial state because their ancestors happened to live on one side of a line drawn on a map 90 years ago by some guy in London, and on and as long as American politicians continue to force their fetish for the status quo and straight lines on a map onto the rest of the world, the region will probably continue to be a violent hellhole wracked by sectarian violence. ISIS is only a symptom of a larger problem.

It wasn't a fear of the clowns but rather a fear of getting chosen to be dragged to the stage which would likely involve "I don't wanna", having to go anyway and making a fool of myself in front of the laughing crowd — and, worse, in front of my friends and family.

I have never got picked.

You could easily imagine a chaotic good paladin. Basically Batman except you beat the shit out of demons and necromancers wherever you find them. Paladins get a bad rap because most rule systems make them fucking gay as hell.

Lots of people have pointed out that the alignment system is dumb, that L/C and G/E aren't treated as properly orthogonal by the rules, blah blah blah. I'd like to propose something different.

Back before the eAf, D&D had just Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic. This was taken directly from Weird Tales-esque fiction, significantly Moorcock. The alignments were directly embedded into the settings of those stories, though: there were tangible (well, sometimes) forces of Law and Chaos at work, and heroes were often servants of one of the other, willingly or not. Good and Evil were complex shades of relativism and perspective, Law and Chaos weren't. This worked, because lots of DMs wanted to run those sorts of settings and the liked those rules.

Sometime before the eAf, a Good-Evil axis was added. I've never seen an authoritative reason for why, but my private suspicions are that the games at the time, which were huge, multi-group affairs, wanted to use alignment as a way of distinguishing individual factions of players, and L/N/C wasn't enough. This way, G/N/E would represent a character's individual motivation, and L/N/C would represent how that character was being used by destiny (partially affected, of course, by the character's own desires).

Most games these days don't use Moorcockian settings, and instead leave alignment to be a rough approximation of personality. This leads to bizarre arguments over whether Robin Hood was Lawful (for sticking to a personal code) or Chaotic (for choosing a code that differs from the local legal authority's), and to whether one's alignment changes when crossing international borders.

The upshot, I think, is that paladins' alignment restrictions make perfect sense, but only if you have a setting in which alignment directly means gserves THIS higher power, intentionally or noth, and in which those higher powers happen to be labelled LG. In that situation, for example, falling makes perfect sense: it's not so much that the paladin is being punished for not toeing the line as that, through whatever circumstances (intentional or not), the character's destiny is no longer moving in the direction LG wants it to go, and it makes sense for LG to cut losses. (Of course, that's still not a very fun mechanic for the way today's games are played, where players are supposed to have personal connections to every character they play and write up a backstory and blah blah blah.)

A Batman-like paladin, in such a Moorcockian setting, would be a perfect candidate for a semi-willing servant of a paladin-sponsoring entity. But, since alignments operated in scales of conflicts far beyond human understanding, you could easily have situations in which Law says gActually, as part of our final endgame, Robin needs to die right here, so your healing powers are temporarily revoked. Good job punching those demons, though!h.

(Of course, the best thing would be for DMs to alter the rules they use in order to thematically support the setting they want to run. Alignments would usually be the first thing to go.)

Now watch and jack off like the sorry excuse for a man that you are as I give your wife pleasure beyond anything she has ever dreamed of. She will beg for more and more of my alpha god cock. The blood of a thousand generations of sex legends will course through my hot, throbbing, perfectly sculpted member as it pumps life juice into your beloved's womb. Then with the force of a linear activator it will continue to thrust unholy pleasure into every orifice of her shivering flesh, permeating her innards, joining us together as a single entity, Armilus; her sweet vaginal folds will widen to envelop me, and the glorious junction of our carnal desire will shatter the skies. The earth will split in twain and from the foul sulfurous depths will arise a slithering army of impish roachmen. Darkness is law. Bow to your Lord. Bow and cum.

I want you to picture in your mind's eye a cute girl. But not just any cute girl; the absolute cutest girl you can conceive of. This is no trivial task, so let's take it one step at a time.

We will begin by picturing her face. By way of guidance, the facial features most commonly identified as cute include large eyes, a small mouth and nose, a large forehead, and rounded cheeks and chin. This is only guidance, however; you should imagine whatever you find cutest. Once you have an approximate face, consider her hair; the way the hair frames the face makes a large difference. There are many possible ways for a cute girl to wear her hair, so be sure to consider the full range of possibilities, considering length, colour, if/how it is tied up, symmetry/asymmetry, and if/how it covers parts of the face or ears. It is advised that you visualise several possibilities (say, at least five) before settling on one as the cutest.

Next, you should consider the details and accessories: the colour of her eyes, whether or not she wears glasses, whether she has anything in her hair (e.g. hairbands/ties, or flowers). Once you have a cute face settled, picture her smiling. Not just a single smile, but the full range of expression, from the self-conscious half-smirk to the toothy grin, to full on laughter.

Of course, a cute girl is more than just a disembodied head. Next, we will consider the rest of her body. First, visualise her general body structure and proportions. Beginning with her torso, consider how thin or plump she is, and how well defined her hips, waist and breasts are. Then consider how long and how thin her arms and legs are in relation to her torso, and how large her head is in relation to the rest of her body. Again, the details are important: spend some time considering the relative size, shape and thickness of her hands and feet.

Now that she has a body, we must consider her clothing. Similarly to the hair, given the sheer range of possibilities, you are advised to take your time and visualise several different outfits. There are many details that can be varied: consider the length of her dress/skirt/shorts/trousers and how much of her legs are visible; similarly with how long her sleeves are. Consider jewellery, footwear, scarves, mittens, and all the countless other potentially cute things she could be wearing. Deciding what outfit is cutest is likely to take some time; move on to the next part only when you are ready.

At this point we should reiterate that we are considering a cute girl, not a cute doll. She is to be visualised as an actual person, with actions and movements and a will of her own. To accomplish this, and to further her cuteness, we will now visualise this cute girl doing something cute. The exact activity is not important, so much as the motivation behind it and how she experiences it. The activity should be something which evokes ideas of youth and fun. It should be something which regular (uncute) adults, in general, do not do, or at least do not do for leisure (for instance, cooking). Creative pursuits are ideal for our purposes.

You should spend at least a minute visualising your cute girl doing this cute thing in as much detail as possible. Take a deep breath and close your eyes, if it helps. Picture how her body moves as she performs the activity. Picture her facial expression, and how it might change to match her mood as the activity progresses. Imagine what might be going through her mind as she becomes ever more engrossed in what she is doing.

661 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8461 17:51

Until now, our visualisation exercise has been entirely disconnected from you, the visualiser, apart from indirectly integrating your personal ideals with respect to cuteness. From here, the experience will become more personal. (As an aside: at this point, as she is a fairly well defined concept, you may, at your own discretion, choose to give her a name. It goes without saying that her name should be as cute as she is).

Now, imagine the cute girl looking up from whatever activity she has been performing until now and noticing you. You are not a stranger to her; she knows and loves you. It is likely the first thing she will do is to greet you. Consider how she addresses you: is it by name, or by some other affectionate term (such as "papa" or "onii-chan")? Picture simultaneously what nonverbal cues she gives to express how happy she is to see you. These may be subtle (e.g. eyes widening, or dropping something she was holding as part of the activity) or not so subtle (e.g. running over and hugging you).

Once you have greeted one another, you should picture yourselves interacting in some way. If appropriate, it could simply be continuing the activity she was performing earlier, but together this time. It should be something reasonably intimate. Possibilities include holding hands and going for a walk, or snuggling up close to one another under a blanket while watching TV, or one of you performing mimikaki on the other. It is here cautioned that visualising anything sexual is likely to run counter to the goals of this exercise.

In order to increase the intimacy and immediacy of the situation, you may imagine yourselves having a conversation. Try telling her how your day has been, and asking how hers was. Picture how she responds, both verbally and nonverbally. In general, you should simply act as you naturally would in this situation. Imagining natural speech from another person can be difficult, and may feel like you are putting words in her mouth. If you have difficulty with this, it is advised that you stick to nonverbal communication, such as smiling, laughing and cuddling.

You should now take a moment to acknowledge your own emotional response to this situation. Being this close to a cute girl who clearly loves you is almost certainly, over all, a pleasurable experience, but your emotions may not be entirely positive. You may have felt some sense of awkwardness initially; hopefully this has subsided by now. You may feel jealousy that you cannot be as cute as she is. You may feel guilty, on the basis that she couldn't love you for what you truly are, and if she does love you it must be that you are deceiving her in some way. You should acknowledge these feelings, if applicable, as real and significant parts of the experience, but after acknowledging them you should set them aside and focus on the moment. The only strong feelings you should have are those evoked by her cuteness.

You should continue this visualisation for as long as it continues to be enjoyable to you. You are encouraged to try multiple different activities with her, and see what works and what doesn't. Do not concentrate on reading this text; instead, close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and lie down if you think it will help. You should move on to the next paragraph only once you are ready to finish the exercise.

All good things must come to an end. It is now time to say goodbye to your cute girl and move on. As she loves you, naturally, she is unhappy to see you go, but she understands and sympathises. Besides verbally saying your farewells, you should also give one another one last hug, or perhaps kiss her on the forehead; whatever feels right to you. Once you have parted, spend a few moments remembering her: her behaviour and mannerisms, her voice, her clothing, and her face. Then you can clear your mind and return to your own body and where you presently are, reading this.

662 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8461 17:51

Now that we have successfully constructed a cute girl from first principles, what remains is to deconstruct the experience and see what we can learn from it. This process will take the form of a series of questions to guide your reflection. Though some might be considered "leading" questions, they are not intended to force you towards any particular conclusions; only to offer a range of possible interpretations and meanings that could be drawn. It is advised that you spend a few seconds on each.

  • What parts of the visualisation did you find easiest/most difficult? Why?
  • What parts of the visualisation did you find most/least enjoyable? Why?
  • Did you already have pre-existing set ideas about what constitutes cuteness? If so, did this exercise challenge those ideas in any way?
  • During the initial conception of the cute girl, did cute girls you have seen in existing media or real life consciously or subconsciously affect the appearance of the girl you chose to visualise?
  • This exercise took a reductionist approach to cuteness, building up the cute girl one aspect at a time, and maximising the cuteness of each aspect in isolation. Was this appropriate and/or effective? Is the cuteness of a cute girl the sum of the cuteness of her aspects, or is it a gestalt phenomenon?
  • Did you find the visualisation exercise relaxing or comforting in any way? If so, might it, or some part of it, be of use to you in the future?
  • What was it about the cute activity that the cute girl was performing alone that made it cute? Would it still feel cute if you were to perform it yourself?
  • In what way was the interaction phase different to simply picturing the cute girl in isolation? Would your response to the exercise have been different if there had been no interaction with the cute girl at all?
  • During the interaction phase, it is cautioned that sexual thoughts are likely to run counter to cuteness. Do you agree? What relationship, if any, is there between cuteness and sexuality?
  • Cuteness evokes many of the same feelings as beauty, and the two have much in common, being primarily visual, subjective, pleasing properties of things or people. What relationship, if any, is there between cuteness and beauty? Is cuteness a type of beauty?
  • Cuteness is often linked to youth and innocence. What relationship, if any, is there between cuteness and nostalgia? Could it be considered a form of vicarious nostalgia for times of youth?
  • Cuteness has been explained in terms of evolutionary pressures towards caring for offspring. Do you agree? Is this perspective sufficient to explain all aspects of cuteness, including its social context?
  • Have you considered, or would you now consider, seeking contact with one or more cute girls in real life? Would you seek them as a friend, or a lover, or a daughter, or something else?
  • Have you considered, or would you now consider, attempting to be more cute yourself in real life?
  • What does cuteness mean to you, personally?

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this exercise. I hope it has been of interest to you. If you feel comfortable doing so, please share a brief description of the cute girl you visualised, and your personal thoughts on this experience.

Here's what I'm thinking today. In my heart of hearts, I want to be kind and nice, and I want those around me to be kind and nice. I feel like I've been told before that this is just naive. I feel like I've been told that people will step on me given the opportunity. Everyone's kindness is just a mask for their true desires. I feel like I've been told that I should step on others before I get stepped on. But if everyone is like this, then does that make me an anomaly for wishing for something else? Or is this something that a lot of people desire before they learn how cruel the world is? If there are naive people out there like this, then maybe I could surround myself with them.

This is basically the hippie movement in a nutshell. You could try going to Burning Man or one of its many offshoots and see how you like it. Although there's plenty of phonies, hipsters, and drug addicts at Burning Man, I've heard there are also a surprising number of people who are genuinely kind and selfless. Maybe you can find some like-minded people and start a commune together. And have hot orgies. Good luck, post pix

As best I can tell, the LD50 is around 500mg/kg in rats, and probably somewhat less in humans. Assuming you have average (~80kg) body mass, in theory it would take 800 pills (40g) to have a 50% chance of killing you; to have any sense of certainty you'd probably want at least twice that.

In reality, no matter how many pills you take, the most likely result is just some combination of throwing up, passing out, having a seizure and having to get your stomach pumped. Swallowing pills is extremely ineffective as a suicide method and rarely works (~2% success rate). You'd have much better luck with firearms or hanging, so long as you don't mind the risk of permanent brain damage.

More information on diphenhydramine toxicity here; more information on success rates of different suicide methods here. Hope that helps.

That was blunt but informative. Are you one of the DQNs who attempted suicide?

744 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8468 22:10

>>743
I spent most of my childhood and teens seriously depressed and isolated, and spent quite a lot of time fantasising about suicide. It was more of a form of escapism or comfort (if things get too much, there's always an easy way out) rather than an actual desire, though. I never made concrete plans or any actual attempts.

These days my life is a lot better, and I have a better perspective on these things. I'm not even against suicide in the abstract; I'd take a utilitarian point of view and say that if the total suffering of the system is decreased by your suicide (i.e. your current and anticipated suffering from continuing to live is greater than the anticipated suffering caused by your suicide) then it's fine by me. Life is not something sacred that has to be maintained at all costs. Just bear in mind that in practice, simply by virtue of the fact that most people have a family, it's highly likely that your suicide will cause more suffering than it solved.

On the other hand, the idle brooding over suicide from my childhood (and, I suspect, >>740) is wholly counterproductive and should definitely be avoided. Successful suicide requires an extremely strong desire to die. The very fact that you, right now, are sitting here reading this rather than already hanging from a noose is proof enough that you will never actually succeed at suicide. Just give up on the idea and focus on trying to improve your life instead. Shikata ga nai.

At the very least, you can find solace on the idea that normal people don't do bad shit just because, and they are looking to obtain something good for themselves or their loved ones.

Most people live justifying their bad acts all the time, and behave as victims of their own circumstances and nobody really wants to be "the bad guy".

Ah yes, normal people. The class of goody two-shoes who have never thought for themselves. Us abnormals are special in that we can't be mind controlled by media. They think they're the good guys, but really they're just delusional. Us abnormals know the truth, and if that makes us the bad guys then so be it. It's us vs them.

We know this is all true because we've all experienced it first hand. Our personal experience is a clear window into the nature of this world. We've seen these filthy normals on tv. We've overheard their conversations. We've even met a large amount of them in person. Our beliefs have only been reaffirmed by these encounters.

• get at least somewhat fit. couch to 5k or something. every day do one more pushup than the previous day. whatever, it's up to you.
• can you sustain being unemployed? if not, get a job. it sucks, but money is pretty nice to have when you look in the fridge and the only thing left is ketchup. alternately, you could go to school and put off employment further if you haven't already, and make it so when you ARE employed you'll get more money (assuming you choose your major wisely and actually finish).
• what have you always wanted to be good at? draw? play clarinet? tie fishing lures? hack teh interwebz? whatever it is, choose exactly one thing to focus on, and force yourself to put 3-4 hours of genuine study into it every single day, no matter what, no excuses. if you can somehow sustain being unemployed, either spend double the time or do two different things. you'll suck for a while, and then after a few months you'll realize you're kinda okay, and then after a couple years you'll realize you're decent, and after a few more years you'll realize you're actually pretty good. I guarantee you will definitely hate it sometimes, but that'll pass. keep a log of some sort so you can track your progress and feelings, and only quit if you've hated it for an entire month in a row.
• join a club/organization, volunteer, do something in meatspace that's both social and positive. you don't have to commit a ton of time, but it'll enrich you and provide friendship opportunities. maybe you'll have to go through a few organizations before you find one you want to stick with, that's fine.

I have recently discovered that it seems to be the general consensus that "beat 'em up" is a term only used to describe scrolling fighting games where you fight multiple enemies, such as Streets Of Rage or Golden Axe, and not your one-on-one Tekkens and Street Fighters etc. I have had this the other way round all my life, based on how the Official PlayStation Magazine used the term. Have I really been wrong all these years?

844 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8477 20:58

>>843
I've always used it the first way. "'em" implies a large number of enemies, like "shoot 'em up." Of course, first person and twin stick shooters can have lots of enemies, but shmups claimed the name first.

Front-end development is a rat race of wheel reinvention. I hate it and stay away as much as possible.
More fun things include: server-side programming (the rest of "full stack"), games (anything from text adventures through consoles to Unity), hardware stuff like Arduino, desktop software, stabbing yourself in the leg with an 300-pack of toothpicks. I've tried it all and it all beats Javascript.

That mention of text adventures reminded me of a text adventure I made myself a few years ago, which I just went back and played through. This was from when I was still very new to programming. Code features:

  • Literally zero comments
  • A grand total of nine functions, of which six are just one clumsily constructed dialogue tree
  • Function definitions randomly interspersed between variable definitions at the start of the code
  • The main game loop is more than 800 lines long and composed pretty much entirely of if and print statements. At one point it has ten nested conditionals.

Despite all that, the game itself is surprisingly solid. I remember I bugtested it to death, and it really is, as best I can tell, genuinely bug free. And the puzzles and game mechanics are quite interesting, even if some of the solutions are a bit abstruse.

I'm javascripting for my job right now, and I have to say it's not really that bad if you're not required to use any frameworks.

What I'm more worried about is that my next job is to rewrite and optimize a bunch of disorganized, undocumented, and uncommented perl scripts written by three different people. It would be faster to ignore the perl scripts and write it from scratch, but the people who wrote the code don't remember what it does, nor do they have time to explain anything.

Perl is as easy as any other scripting language to write big maintainable programs, but it's also infamously easy to make a giant ball of mud that nobody understands a week after writing, and much easier than other languages to end up with something totally opaque and inscrutable - it rewards you for being too clever for your own good. I don't envy the task of dealing with it.

Interestingly though, I feel the opposite of >>878 about JS. "Build" makes sense; I could write TypeScript and have a compiler check my code, but the shiny frameworks, npm/bunt/grillpack/react/whatever just reek of hipsters ignoring several decades of software to be the first to do something that everyone later realises was a bad idea.

I think that's pretty much what happened. Of the three, one is a cargo cult programmer, one writes inscrutable code that may or may not be working as intended, and the third is decent but still doesn't comment anything.

For example, there's a directory full of perl modules with generic names like CODE.pm and COM.pm, with a note from the cargo cult guy that says "not sure which modules were needed so I just copied everything." And of course none of them seem to know how to use scope, so use strict is off and everything is a global variable. Sometimes they even reference variables from other modules, so you have to go hunting to find which .pm file that variable is in. Oh, and their "version control" consists of copying all files into a dated folder.

On the bright side, it's pretty easy to shine when the standards are low!

I can't tell if I'm going crazy, or if lots of sites are starting to get flooded with nonsense posts.

I think I'm still sane. Pretty sure it's just a case of a certain imageboard actually getting flooded with comments taken from elsewhere, a few regular nonsense posts on the textboards (Phalluses out for the Gorilla!) and my tiredness. Still, I have a deep feeling of unease about all this. My logical explanation does not satisfy spiritually.

Perhaps we're about to cross the rubicon and sites will find themselves inundated with nonsense no matter what. Actually, I think we crossed that river in 1993. Which if I'm reading right, is this year.
I'm not looking forward to 1994.

Oh, but just imagine her after you've adopted her, taken her home, tended to her wounds, bathed her, given her some nice clothes to wear, and told her she's cute and you love her. Imagine how her cynicism and distrust slowly wear away as she finally begins to admit to herself that maybe she does deserve to be loved after all. Picture her self-consciousness about smiling as she is embarrassed by her missing teeth, and how precious her smiles therefore are. It's a slow fuse cuteness, but in the end she really is very cute indeed.

>>976
Only a wig/hat/few weeks of natural hair growth away from maximum cuteness.

>>977
I'm having difficulty picturing this one. Do you mean she has a shoulderblade coming out of the back of her head?

>>978
Cute!

>>979
So-called ugly girl should take solace in the fact that there's more to cuteness than just physical appearance, and that it is more to do with the subjective feelings evoked in others. The very fact that she cares this much about being cute implies a sort of childlike insecurity which itself evokes feelings of protectiveness and a desire to comfort her. I bet if somebody were to tell her she's cute at heart and give her a long, hard cuddling, it would go a long way to making her feel happy about herself again.

Girls can't be cute. When you see a girl who superficially appears to be cute, she is always doing it only for attention because girls are shallow and vapid creatures with no internal world. But cute boys are cute because it's their nature, not because they crave validation like your mom craves cum.

984 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8487 20:22

It's actually fairly easy to tell if a girl is trying to act cute vs. naturally being cute. You just need to spend more time around girls, cute or otherwise.
It's also fairly difficult to make your face look cute if it isn't already.

985 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8487 20:35

I don't like girls. It has no practical impact on how I act towards women IRL, but as an abstract concept I just don't. I think most of the reason is because of how men act differently in the presence of women.

I would say, however, that in my experience I've had far less interesting conversations with women than with men. With hindsight the one time I felt I was having an interesting conversation I was actually essentially monologuing with an entropy device.

>>984 how to tell if a girl is merely acting cute vs being naturally cute:

Does it have a vagina?
>y
it is acting cute
>n
it is actually cute

Girls are vapid, uninteresting creatures who stop maturing mentally at 12 years old. Boys are love. The ancient Greeks had it right, marriage is a business contract intended to produce children and an estate. Once that's done you have no further use for the 130 lbs of flesh attached to your vagina and your time would be better spent fucking the thighs of the cute boy under your tutelage.

994 Name: (*゚ー゚) : 1993-09-8488 07:10

Also, girls are fucking disgusting. Have you ever seen a single woman's bathroom? The worst I've seen in a man's bathroom is that maybe the shower needs scrubbed or he didn't wipe out the sink after shaving. Girls leave their dirty ass underwear hanging all over the place after washing them in the same sink where they brush their teeth and have a wastebasket full of used tampons. The walls are also sticky with hairspray which then gets hair and dust and shit stuck to it.

The sooner we can create an artificial womb and then genocide these disgusting creatures, the better.

I've always loved living with girls, no matter how messy they are. The baskets full of used tampons are a bonus! Not a fan of make-up smears on the wall though.
