>okay sure he's fat

That is a negative trait to us, but him being fat is a status symbol in North Korea. It could be seen as him flaunting to his people.
Personally with his brutish attitude and recent portrait at his decennial celebration suggests me to he is trying to separate himself from his role as sort of a steward of the memory of his fathers and establish his own image and personality cult. Kim Yo-Jong may help as she has been particularly brutish as well recently.

All that being said, all this was actually working in terms of fear and intimidation of the west combined with the missile launches, but the Pyongyang ice-cream shop story made all that evaporate. The way North Korea invites parody due to their inconsistency in tone from the state is unmatched.

You know, the more I read about history, the more it seems like the east is just regressing to the means of the societies they've always been, just with a modern coat of paint. On the topic of North Korea, the Kims practically re-established dynastic Korea, especially with the Songbun classifications. Ditto with the CCP, these are just another epoch of these societies. Due to Xi going Down to the Countryside he is even more friendly to the woo-woo stuff that was common in dynastic China. The BJP's explosion of power (and general fervor for Hindu nationalism) and politics turning dynastic in India points to this as well.

The west does this in a more subtle way, mostly when it comes to foreign policy and maintaining the status quo of colonialism. The most dramatic is maintaining the Persian Gulf Sheikhdoms and colonial African borders (which are surely to set back Africa back centuries in terms of development due to the infighting and wars of balkanization they will cause). Domestically there is very little, but maybe because there's nothing worth continuing as the "west" was behind most of history.

Every English-speaking Brazilian and most English-speaking Russians I've met online have been absolutely awful unhinged freaks. Is there a point?
We can barely populate all the textboards on here, so it certainly couldn't be just us using it. And the general culture around imageboards is too different now, what boards could we even recruit to a new network? Small, ultra-specific hobby boards are a dead breed. I don't see any decent places around that would be willing to form a network of the sort iichan was now. The closest thing to a modern iichan currently existing is the post-8chan webring, and that thing is awful.
A revival would be dead on arrival and likely quickly overtaken by the rising culture of early-2000s worshiping, pretend-oldfag 12 year olds, before falling into obscurity and dying again.

From the perspective of a Hindu, Islam is an alien religion spread to India by hostile invaders at the point of a sword and Muslim Indians are either the descendants of the invaders or the descendants of the people they forcibly converted. Muslim invaders also very nearly wiped out the Buddhist religion from northern India and caused an eastward exodus of scholars into central Asia and China comparable in scale to the the westward one out of Constantinople that started the renaissance in the west.
